So I'm guessing the mainstream media aren't doing enough to convince us that 'populism' is evil they're even setting up "not be a thinktank, but a policy unit and networking space". Even on their deathbed they can't call a spade a spade. A clear indication everything they've worked so hard to create is crumbling around them and thus creating a think-tank to work on policy designed to keep the establishment in power and passing it off as centre politics is a last desperate attempt at clinging onto power.

For those dismissive of Blairism, are you waking up yet?

An Institute for Centre Ground Politics. Fuck me. Could you make it sound any less exciting?

I just don't see the point of it. The bulk of the British political class still is centre-ground. What can this not-a-think-tank contribute to British political life that's currently missing?

I almost feel sorry for Balir who's retired from the biggest job open to him as a relatively young man and is desperately searching for a purpose in life. But really, Tony. Nobody is fucking interested.

If you read my post properly you'd have seen that I acknowledge that not everyone who voted leave because they can't get a house or a GP appointment is racist. However their inability to understand that the real problems underpinning these issues are a lack of proper funding of the NHS and successive governments refusals to build a proper and substantial housing scheme is indicative of how people have a knee jerk reaction and blame it all on immigration. Pandering to the politics of fear and divisiveness, as I said.

Leave voters aren't a homogeneous bunch, there are lots of reasons why people voted leave. I've got friends for whom immigration played no part in their decision to vote leave. Can we make a distinction between right & left wing populism. I'm seeing the term populism banded about as a single entity in a wholly negative context a repeated amount of times. Every peasant should identify as a populist. It's then up to intellect as to what guise that takes. The answer to the UK's ills is populism.

I'd imagine they live anywhere and everywhere. The vox pops I saw on TV showed people saying their biggest concern the strain caused by immigration. That in itself doesn't make them racist, but it doesn't take a massive leap of the imagination to believe that off camera some of them were racist. I think I've already explained that I don't think every leave voter was a racist. All racists were leave voters though.
