Like a lot of poor blokes I got dragged to watch Fifty Shades Darker.

It was fucking dire in every way possible. Garbage, utter garbage. Massive cringe-athon 2/10.

Les quatre cents coups (The 400 Blows) (1959)

The story of a young boy who struggles with life both at home and at school and his slow decline into petty theft and, ultimately, incarceration.

I knew a little bit about this film before watching it and, thanks to reading what I had read, expected it to be an ultra-depressing depiction of a young boy stuck in a complete downward spiral. It wasn't quite that. It was emotionally affecting and wonderfully acted but I suppose I was just expecting more than I got.

The sequence of events that led to Antoine's mum and dad relinquishing parental responsibility doesn't quite seem to tally with the extent of his punishment. His prospects seem to be dead in the water following a few indiscretions at school and one instance of petty theft. It all seems a bit extreme. Then again, Antoine's parents didn't seem particularly prepared to work hard with him to improve his behaviour so perhaps the easy way out was always inevitable, one way or another.

In similar vain to Kes? which is an excellent film I might ad, I would suggest you have a look into it but be warned it is ultra depressing. :)

I've not seen Kes but a cursory glance at its wikipedia page suggests they are similar, at least thematically. It's definitely one I want to watch, particularly now you've described it as ultra depressing.

They are similar in tone/style also - Kes is clearly indebted to it. The shadow of neorealism blended with more expressionistic and lyrical touches (you could call it poetic realism if the name wasn't already taken).

Kes is totes way better tho.

I loved this film, I thought it was really good and they capture the fear and hatred really well. What didn't you like about it?

Tried to be too comical in what was a dangerous situation although i must admit Alan Arkin was amusing. The film only concentrated on the 6 in The Canadian Embassy where i would have like to seen what the other hostages had to go through for over 400 days. I know Argo was the fake film to trick the Iraqi's but those other hostages went through hell.

The Dead Zone (1983)

A man is involved in a car accident which leaves him comatose for five years. He wakes up to find that he has developed the ability to see future events.

This was kind of strange in that it felt like two different rushed plots nailed together but I suppose that is always a danger with film adaptations of novels due to the different time constraints of each medium. Half of the film deals with our main character's psychic ability in relation to an active serial killer and the other half deals with a rabble-rousing, Trumpesque politician on a path to global destruction via the White House. I preferred the latter half and thought Sheen was excellent as the sleazy politician.

Any good? I fancy seeing that and Spall is always worth a watch, a truly terrific actor.

It was an intriguing film to watch and one I could easily watch again at some later date.

Good film with a brilliant cast of Liam Neeson,Brian Cox,John Hurt and Tim Roth. Have to say Roth gave a performance of overacting that will never be matched in the history of cinema. :ohm: No doubt Salty will like this film

Can't stand it tbh and Liam Neeson is disgraceful as always. Roth hammed it up well for a bit of entertainment. Braveheart is just as pish but more entertaining at least.

Braveheart was decent for the battles but an Aussie trying to preach about how cruel the English were in trying to stop raids into our country was total bollocks,it's not the only film where he's shown his hate for England but who takes the twat seriously?

A terrible film about Constantine "The Great". Appalling acting and script and historically all over the place. I can't even mark this it was that bad.

Pierrepoint.
Another quality performance from Timothy Spall, I didn't realise that he had executed so many German war criminals (202) and that he hanged the male criminals two at a time whilst the female criminals were hanged individually.

Yeah that's excellent that and was interesting seeing how he went about it and how it started to affect him when he was doing multiple hangings per day.

Not Arnie's best but still a bit of fun even though his famous quips were sadly missing in the film. 6/10.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
London Has Fallen

I like a silly action flick as much as the next man but this is sillier than most. Initial premise is ok. (Spoilers)

Assassinate a head of state to spark a state funeral to bring other world leaders into the same place but the actual execution of the plan requires infinite levels of luck that people will be in the right place at the right time.

And the 'throw away' concept that half the police in London and the entire Queens Guard have all been compromised to that extent is ridiculous. How, exactly?

If they could have done that differently then it would have been a much better film.

The Revenant (2015)
Finally got round to watch this and was left disappointed. Over hyped and overlong although the story was a good one. There's only so many time you can watch the deprivations he went through and the fight with the bear was hilarious even though it wasn't meant to be  6/10.

You might like it mate but i didn't agree with all the hype, like i said it was a good story and the scenery was stunning but there were too many spells of nothing happening.

I don't mind that if its atmospheric, a lot of There Will Be Blood and Assassination Of Jesse James was like that. I'll see, but I'm looking forward to another hammy Di Craprio performance anyway, and Tom Hardy mumbling his way through the film.
