Very talented young players
That three behind Monaco, Mbappé-Lemar-Silva, all of those have bright futures I reckon. Especially Lemar.

Just seen highlights of the Porto v Juventus game.

What a daft couple of tackles within a few minutes early in the game by the Porto full back to get himself sent off (and still his team-mates had the cheek to rush around the ref arguing) basically costing his side in the tie.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing, it was completely brainless and the second tackle was worse than the first, just seventy four seconds later. I was shaking my head at Bailly's similar offence but his second tackle probably wasn't worthy of a yellow card - Telles, on the other hand, made absolutely sure of things with his second tackle.

Good to have you back, steven. Was a bit quiet, especially in the Europa League thread yesterday. I already feared you got a heart attack after the Thriller in Manila (that is St.Etienne). Yeah, that was close, wasn't it. Even after Miki's 1-0 I feared the mighty frenchmen could score another 5. :D
Anyway, hope Schalke doesn't get ManU in the next round ...oops wrong thread, sorry. Just wanted to say that you were missed ;)

The Mbappe lad is better than Henry was at 18 according to a few French journalists and City themselves had a €40m bid rejected by Monaco for him; but he'll move soon for ridiculous money if he keeps this up.
He's got a better record at the same age. However, saying that he'll have a better career than Henry (France's top scorer far, far ahead of Platini) will take some beating. I wish journos would stop putting all this pressure on the shoulders of a guy who isn't 20 yet.

Yeah I agree, Henry wasn't all that special at 18, and I remember him at Juventus being solid but nothing amazing. This lad has serious potential, but it does take luck and determination for a talent to reach the top and potentially become a legend. He's off to a hell of a start though.

Absolutely agreed. Let the young talents develop and don't compare them with other greats from the past. But that's easier said than done. The Journos need their stories and they don't care if they put too much pressure onto the young talents.
That's a good thing at Leverkusen where they have one of the actual biggest talents, the 17 year old Kai Havertz. U17 player for Germany and actually plays in the Youth team and already made 13 appearances in the Bundesliga this season (and played CL too). No interviews with him allowed. He should concentrate fully on football and school. That's a good decision from Bayer. Of course they can't deny the journos to write their stories but they won't let them interview the kid now

Maybe dub him the next Trezeguet then.

I think Keown has been a bit put out by Sanchez recently. Sticking the boot in about his defensive effort at every opportunity from BT's crows nest.

Arsenal playing well collectively. Walcott and Xhaka especially but Sanchez could have more impact on the game. Bit of a soft goal for a goalkeeper of Neuer's quality to concede and you do feel that if Bayern have an actual CB pairing and a defence shielder, the game would be less dominated by the home side.
Ancelotti needs to bring on Kimmich to add strength in midfield and Müller needs to replace Robben. He's done his one-trick pony thing 3 times in the first half and it hasn't worked. Alaba has also been surprisingly shit. Not saying he should keep Walcott in his back pocket every game but he certainly can defend better.

Soft penalty, and a misunderstanding of the amended "triple-punishment" rule has killed this game.

Rather soft decision but one you'd hope to get if it was your team.

What a mess for that goal!!

Arsenal with Koscielny won that tie 2-1 over the two legs. Arsenal without him lost 9-0.
