Managerless Wigan are hoping striker Will Grigg's season is not over as they attempt to nurse him back to full fitness.

Grigg has missed the last two games with a knee injury and will sit out Saturday's Sky Bet Championship clash with Aston Villa, as well as Northern Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Norway, as his condition is assessed.

Interim manager Graham Barrow has already given up hope of defender Donervon Daniels playing again before the end of a campaign as he attempts to fight his way back from his own knee problem.

However, Barrow will have Sam Morsy available after he completed a two-match ban and Shaun MacDonald (also knee) was used as a late substitute in last weekend's 1-0 home defeat by Bristol City, while fellow midfielder Max Power continues to battle a hamstring strain.

Henri Lansbury could return for Aston Villa after he was expected to train on Friday ahead of the game.

Striker Scott Hogan has also trained this week after suffering a knee injury at Newcastle last month and will be assessed.

Jack Grealish (knee) has trained having missed the last two games, a defeat to Huddersfield and victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

But Nathan Baker (knee) is out of the trip along with Andre Green (hamstring) and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy (knee), who is due to return to training next week.

Great news on the injury front! We need Hogan and Grealish back to give us some more options upfront. Don't expect either to start but will be good to have them available on the bench. Hogan back a lot earlier than I thought, looked like a REALLY bad injury at the time. Will be interesting to see how Jedinak plays at CB again tomorrow as he was fantastic against Sheff Wed last weekend.

I predict 1-2.

Another very average performance but another 3 points. I'm just gutted we have started to put this run together too late. Pleased for hogan and hopefully it will spur him on now. UTV

Same rubbish different week. Another in play win for me on the upside, got on Villa at 4/1 about 30 seconds before they won the corner which led to the goal. Can't wait for this season to end and August to come around.

Sounds like we were outplayed today but the amount of times we have outplayed teams and lost is ridiculous. Most important thing for me is that we kept yet another clean sheet, that's 5 clean sheets in our last 6 matches. Really good to see Hogan get off the mark for us as well, looking forward to him and Kodjia striking up a partnership.

Been good considering he's playing with an injury because we have no one else. Low on confidence though, he didn't get up for about 20 seconds after that miss, looked like he was going to cry. He'll score absolute hatful in League One. If Grigg can score 25, I reckon Bogle will get at least 30.

Obertan checked out once his mate Joyce was canned. He'll be gone at the end of the season.
