Doubt we'll be able to compete with Luton financially for Collins, especially with the McGeehan money. Only advantage we have is being his boyhood club but that doesn't make a difference to Crawley.

We also got 500k from our final clause in the Andre Gray transfer when Burnley stayed up. We then got a fee for Jake Gray from Yeovil, although that won't be much. We're probably looking at having pulled in £1.5million this week.

James Collins would be amazing for us, but I'll believe it when I see it.

A guy at work reckons we're signing Nicky Maynard which I just can't see being true be he is adamant that it is.

Yep, been spotted sharing an Oreo McFlurry with Fenty outside BP mate.

Seriously though, I hope this isn't true. He'll be on shitloads of money and he won't be that good. Surely, there's someone lower down worth a punt on? If we're gonna chuck a load of cash at a once quality top end L1/mid range Championship striker on his way down, then I'd much rather O'Grady than Maynard, if he's a realistic L2 target. Wish we still had Podge.

£600k for Andre.

Just being a pedant...

A bit disappointed that Jake Gray has left. People forget that he was younger than McGeehan and Marriott and still very early in his career. A second season here would've done the world of good. I do wonder though if it was a mental thing; dealing with pressure situations? The midfield was always the issue so there had to be changes. But that should've been Cook.

Not sure, just going off what people have said.

JMD signed yesterday by all accounts, but they've just left the announcement until today. At the end of DC's interview , just before the camera cut off, he asked whether anyone wanted to question him on Jordan so it sounds done (given that he was also training).

We've tweeted that we'll be announcing another signing today, rumoured to be winger Omari Sterling James from Solihull Moors. Ex Cheltenham.

Anyone know anything about him?

Pretty excited by this signing, 3 really good additions so far, all getting praise from fans of their previous clubs. Not used to this.

There is always one who is going to go against the grain, and I'll be the one on this occasion.

Jake, on the eye, looks a very pleasing footballer. Small, quick, low centre of gravity etc. However, he is Mr Anonymous. Not sure if he was the same at Luton, although it appears he didn't get a lot of game time, but for us, we would see glimpses of brilliance (see the TV game against Orient when he scored 2), but he would then literally touch the ball 10 times in the next 3 games.

Anyway, definitely a good player in there, but seems to hide away from the ball for very long periods. Hopefully he can find a bit of something while at Yeovil, 'cause he seemed like a nice lad.

Paul Mullin, the guy who was about to sign for Stevenage then about to sign for Tranmere and then about to sign for Lincoln, has now signed for Swindon.

Paul Mullin signs for an undisclosed fee. Striker with not that great scoring record but has over 100 appearances at league 2 level and still only 22. Happy enough with that. Hopefully we can develop him into a goalscoring machine!

3 down 10 to go. Know nothing about any of the 3 we've signed. On paper they seem just what we need.

Some L2 teams are going to get a right kicking next season!

Someone on our forum who says he knows his dad reckons that Collins wants to come here and we've offered him an acceptable deal but you're offering Crawley more money for him

That's the thing, I love Rhead to pieces (less so with Palmer) both try hard, but not good enough for league 2.

Maybe times have changed and they'll be amazing, but I can't see it

Hoping we can just about avoid a relegation fight with these not good enough players.

Not sure about him but we've taken three good players from their recenlty in Bogle, Osborne and Asante. If he's on par with Bogle or Osborne you'll have signed a quality player.

Not overly excited about Mullin but always turn to the legend that is and was Sam Parkin when it comes to strikers that haven't done much before joining us.

At least the signings are happening thick and fast now.

No surprise Collins wants to play for the team he supports. I am surprised that Coventry, in their current situation, are able to get involved in a bidding war, which is claimed to be a six figure sum. Sounds a bit desperate to me. As far as Luton are concerned we already have a decent forward line. Hylton's place won't be threatened which would leave Vassell, Marriot and Collins if he signs competing for one spot. Although according to rumours Peterborough are looking to pay 450k for Marriot!! Marriot for all his promise didn't have a good season and having Collins replace him instead with profit from both deals would be a good bit of business. However this is all speculation. The rumour mill..... don't you just love it.

We've signed Maxime Biamou from Sutton on a two year deal. Seems like a bit of a punt, don't know how much he'll play.

Tbf we've just got some money from winning the Checkatrade Trophy, plus the leftover money we never spent from selling James Maddison for £1m+ in addition to add ons from the Callum Wilson deal etc.

Coventry are quietly putting together a very good team. Would be my favourites at this stage where there is no point predicting anything.

This has probably been our best summer of recruitment in a long, long time, relatively speaking. Robins is a good manager and he seems to know what to do in regards to building a squad that will be competitive in this league. Main concern at the moment is that he might not stick around, as he has history of with us, and that we may struggle to cope with being a big name in this league. We've struggled in the past with teams coming to the Ricoh and being really up for it etc.

Think we are now the only club not to have made any signings.

An utterly depressing time to be a Carlisle supporter especially when you consider how shite we were in the second half of last season.

Absolutely dreading this relegation battle.

I'm thinking more of the overall financial situation at Coventry City. Seem to remember the club had a huge debt and then of course you have the current situation regarding the stadium. Coming down to league two will also affect income. Just surprises me that the club can compete in the transfer market for the type of money Crawley want. Not unusual of course for relegated clubs to take a gamble and hope that the club bounces back but sometimes it can backfire. For the record I'm also surprised we are in the hunt for Collins at the price Crawley want.

The only debt we are in is to SISU iirc. I don't think we owe anyone asides from them anything. It's hard to know how bad our financial situation is really.
