Its on Channel 4 (of sorts) - not their main channel but one everyone can get.

Not sure what the ratings are like but they probably won't be very high until the latter stages should England get there.

Norway is out. Unbelievable. They really lost all their 3 matches. So Netherlands and Denmark advance. If we reach #2 in our group we'll play the Netherlands

Today:
Sweden vs Italy Win Sweden: Italy already eliminated from the knockout stages.

Germany vs Russia: We need at least a draw, if we lose and Sweden didn't lose against Italy we're out.

So, come on, Mandy. Score one against the bloody Russians. You could have already made 5 Goals, you owe us one ;)

I honestly had no idea were supposed to be that good. Tbh, Germany and Sweden don't look that great either. So far, both needed a penalty to score (granted we've not yet had 20 minutes).

So France come 2nd in their group so might well face England in the quarter finals.

Some poor goalkeeping on show tonight!

A very very typical Scottish campaign- hammered once, defeat despite playing well and then going out despite beating a top side!

England will fancy beating France on current form - which again probably means in typical England style we won't.

England with 9 points like the other three combined :D
Spain in the Quarterfinals with 2 losses in 3 matches. WTF.

Fingers are crossed for your Quarterfinal against France.

I'm loving the tournament. It's been really enjoyable and the standard of football has been quite high in my opinion.

Playing France will be a big ask in the Quarter Final, but as the old saying goes: If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. Bring it on.

England look especially strong in defence, which is a pre-requisite for success in any tournament. I read that many years ago, when a reporter asked Bill Shankly who would win the league. He replied: "The team that concedes the fewest goals." Note: Not the team that scores the most, but the team that concedes the fewest. A subtle difference, but an important one I think.

It looks as if Germany vs Denmark might not even get started this evening. The rain is belting down in Rotterdam and the pitch is awash with standing water everywhere. I suspect a surface on which the ball doesn't run true would be more to Denmark's advantage than Germany's, but let's hope they get the game played.

Wow, worst performance i've ever seen of our ladies (and I watch them for decades). Denmark totally deserved this win. Now I am all in for England. Win this thing (after you beat France tonight ;))

Nearly my 2nd heart attack. Never been this exhausted (not even when I saw our men play poorly) because of the shite game we played today.

3 Top nations in women's football (Norway, Sweden, Germany) already eliminated. Now I can watch relaxed the next games (...when France is out, too, I mean ;) )

edit: So, I am now watching what our brothers/sisters of the south are doing against Spain:

AEIOU (old Habsburgian saying "Austriae est imperare orbi universo" or later "Alles Erdreich ist Österreich untertan" )

Germany and Sweden had it coming for a while. Their goalless draw was single-handedly the most boring game of the tournament (which hasn't been very exciting) and they both had trouble against Italy (who odly lost against Russia).
This afternoon, Denmark weren't very good either. Germany scored from a horrible mistake by the Danish goalie (a very savable shot from the German left-back) and frankly the Danes couldn't do much as the pressing from the 2 Germany strikers was phenomenal. Still Germany rested on their laurels and didn't go for the kill (very ungerman if you ask me).

This is certainly Germany's defeat rather than Denmark's win.

handedly the most boring game of the tournament (which hasn't been very exciting)

For me the most boring game was France vs Switzerland. France with luck at the 1-1 (another Goalie Blooper like today in our game. ) otherwise they would've have been at home for a few days

and they both had trouble against Italy (who odly lost against Russia).

The problem we had against Italy was, that we couldn't convert our 25 shots on goal

This is certainly Germany's defeat rather than Denmark's win.

No it was a deserved win for Denmark, they were simply the better team today. It's as simple as that. The 1-0 after 3 min after Denmark's Goalie made an error could never erase the nervousness of our ladies.

Anyway, we are out and now I am dreaming of a final Austria vs England.

Austria (aka "little Germany" because most of their ladies are playing in Germany) won a penalty shootout against Spain. Sounds familiar :D

I didn't watch that game properly as Nice/Ajax was on at the same time but with the red card and two goals, I'd say much more happened in that game than in the Germany/Sweden game.
Actually Austria/Spain was pretty bad this afternoon.

We lost to England 0-1 at Deventer this evening. Just as I mentionned at the start of this thread, we just don't perform against a good side. Despite having the mental strength of equalising against the Swiss, we never really worried England. Scoring was the main thing this evening and Taylor really should have had her shot saved our goalie. Still, we haven't scored a single goal from open play and Echouafni has failed in preparing us correctly for the World Cup. We're seeing the same old mugs (Abily, Le Sommer, Delie) over and over again and the youth hasn't been given a proper go this summer when really now was the time.
I doubt we'll break our quarter-final jinx in 2 years. All we have to look forward to for the next 24 months are meaningless friendlies. Not great.

England have my full support to win this now.

Everyone is entitled to his own views even when he didn't watch the game properly. Yeah, 1 red card and one funny goalie mistake is "much more" than what happened in the Germany vs Sweden game which had none of this crap. Anyway....

Actually Austria/Spain was pretty bad this afternoon.

Thought so. Again a 0-0 in regular time, must be bad. The Austrians are in their first ever tournament and it was a real joy to see their happiness and confidence (some players had a smile on their faces before the shootout. Brilliant and with this mood they converted all their 5 penalties without Angst. The Austrian goalkeeper (plays at Bayern Munich) saved 1 and was near to save the others)

Netherlands are doing well in their home tournament and whoever wins the semi final between us will probably be favourite to win the trophy.

I note the comments regarding goalkeepers. Gentlemen, I quite agree that there have been some blunders. England benefited from a poor clearance by the Spanish goalkeeper to be gifted an early goal in our group match.

It's difficult to understand why female goalkeepers seem more prone to such errors. There's no biological or physiological reason for it. We would expect such things in the lower strata of the women's game, but by the time a player achieves international status and plays in a major tournament such mishaps shouldn't be so frequent.

Perhaps it's a coaching thing? A temperament thing? Thoughts anybody?

There are/were some great women's goalies too (I still miss our Nadine Angerer. Our actual goalie is Almut Schult who won the gold medal at Olympia and was even Women's world goalie in 2014). Why are so many bloopers of the goalies? I don't know, sometimes the women goalies are a bit "short". But men's are not immune for goalie bloopers ( you english should know that best ;) ).

Denmark's goalie made this fatal error in the 3rd minute, that's right. But from this point on she played great and saved some good shots

Hope the bold ones will go through to the final

Despite wins I think the football has been a bit negative. Soaking up pressure from Spain and France and gettig a goal (or 2) on the break might not pay off all the way.
Mind you I've no idea how good the opposition are meant to be. Is this game our final? As in, are the Dutch the strongest outfit left or are the Danes and Austrians a lot better in womens football than mens?

You'd expect the winners of the England/Netherlands to be the favourites in the final..

Denmark through after a goalless draw against Austria. They won on pens 3-0.

Come on England!

What a dull game between Denmark and Austria. The Austrians couldn't convert a single penalty this time (one miss in the match and 3 in the shootout). What a difference to their last shootout.

Anyway, they played a good tournament for their first ever appearance.

And now, please England, beat the Dutch!

Oh dear - 2nd goal summed up the patchy performance.

Guess we could have had a penalty but generally cannot complain about the score line so far.

Played better football in the World Cup. I like Sampson but I've been confused about the tactics these Euros. Would personally have gone for a technically strong trio of Kirby, Carney and Nobbs behind Taylor and looked to keep the ball a bit more but we've pumped it long and asked Kirby and White to defend the flanks. White is awful btw. Really think she's a weak link of the national team. Williams can retire now as well. Not a fan

Negative tactics from the little I saw of them in the tournament, Scots aside.
Perhaps though they/we have inferior players so have to play that way? I dunno, don't know enough about them really.

Bit of excuses making from the manager there talking about not getting the decisions - maybe not a surprise I guess.

Typical management speak!

Damn. The final is already under way for 40 minutes. I was under the impression that they would begin a final at 8:00 pm or so and not 5.00 pm (German Time).

2-2 already, looks like a good final then?
