Anyway, Zieler has left us for Stuttgart and we're loaning Kapustka to Frieburg for the season. Hopefully he does well, though I'd like him to play centrally rather than out wide.

Modeste finally leaves Koln for China, on loan. Fee of around £5-6m with a potential future fee of £30m or so.

Seems a poor outcome from Koln's viewpoint - what if they decide they don't want him?!

Looks like I may well be going to Darmstadt vs. St Pauli next month. Can anybody recommend decent places for food/beer in Frankfurt?

Nope. In terms of grounds, I only went to Mainz which is not too far from Frankfurt. Should be a blast though. St Pauli bring a fair few and their a likeable bunch on their travels.

Philipp Lahm is Germany's Fooballer of the year 2016/2017 and successor of Jerome Boateng. Lahm was 2nd in 2004 and 3rd in 2006. Deserved trophy now after he retired.

Women's player of the year is, of course, Dzsenifer Maroszan. Captain of our women's team and won the triple in France with Olympique Lyon

Coach of the year is Julian Nagelsmann who brought Hoffenheim at the top and for the first time into the Champions League:

Only in his late 20s and taken an unfancied team into the Champions league - bound to be a few clubs after him already!

At last: Tomorrow the 2nd Bundesliga kicks off with the Friday match VfL Bochum vs St. Pauli

St.Pauli has a new Coach, Olaf Janßen, former Bundesliga Player ( 1985-1996 FC Köln (229 games/16 goals), 1996-2000 Eintracht Frankfurt (50/3). Was once a great talent and played in most youth national teams for Germany but never for the Adult team). I am curious about it to see if he can replace "cult-coach" Ewald Lienen.

Buli Zwei has zero sense now that sechzig are down in the doldrums.

Still better than the top division though...

Bollocks.

btw: SC Freiburg is the first Bundesliga Club in Action. They won their Europa League Qualifier first leg against NK Domzale (Slovenia) with 1-0

Bundesliga only starts in 13 Days but 2nd Bundesliga is already running and today we have the "German Super Cup" Match between Champions Bayern and Cup Winner Dortmund.

Bayern "a bit" under pressure. They've lost 5 of their 6 big friendly matches. Although it's not the most wanted trophy for you to win in a season I think they want to show a reaction now. Unfortunately James is out for weeks after being injured in the Liverpool match. I really wanted to see him in the first competitive match of the season.
I am really excited to see Dortmund under new coach Peter Bosz (former Ajax coach) and Mario Götze who was out for months because of metabolic disorder. But it seems that he has no some back problems? Marco Reus still out for months (but that's nothing new, unfortunately)
Let's see....

Watch the Ligue 1 multiplex of the German supercup...

On the one hand, I don't like watching more games at once but on the other, the German game is a glorified friendly...

Decisions, decisions...

I watch as much German footie as I can which I really like but the league desperately needs a couple of teams this year to really compete with Bayern this year.
I hope it doesn't end up like the Scottish league where there is only one club that will win the title.
I love the look of German stadia, I would love to get over and go to some one day

We all hope this here in Germany, Reverend (ok except those wildlings in Bavaria). Promising start for Bayern with loss after loss (unfortunately only in meaningless friendlies)

Come to Hamburg. Although our football isn't good our Volksparkstadion is a pure gem (made quite a transition from the ugly bowl like 70.000 plus all purpose stadium of the 70's to the "tiny" 57.000 football stadium.)

Would love to get over to Hamburg, I clearly remember the great days with Kevin Keegan in the side.

...those were the best days of my life (© Bryan Adams "Summer of '69").
Kevin is still an idol here in Hamburg ( met him as a 15 year old at the training ground and he gave us even an autograph and talked to us. Great guy)

I've deleted my post because I overreacted. It's not worth it...

In the 2nd Bundesliga Eintracht Braunschweig with the first win (2-0 against Heidenheim) and Union Berlin in a curious match against newly promoted Holstein Kiel with the 2nd win, a 4-3.

Relegated FC Ingolstadt again with a 1-0 loss, now at the false end of the table after 2 games (another SC Paderborn-syndrome? :D )

Great game. Aubameyang's finish for the 2-1 was exquisite. Bayern luckily equalised as usual. Bayern win on pens. Bastards!

Dirk what is up with those Hannover fans at Burnley friendly.
If they think they want a scrap without mouth guards and covering therir faces like little children could you advise them to get down to Millwall on match day.
They will then be guaranteed a proper fight.
Never knew Hannover had fans let alone naughty fans
.Are they big trouble makers in Germany ?

Yes, I posted about it yesterday:

https://www.onefootballforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/preseason-matches.15498/page-6#post-652041

Very embarrassing behaviour in a foreign country

Never knew Hannover had fans let alone naughty fans

They drew nearly 45.000 per average in the Bundesliga. So, yes they have fans and some of them are thick as a brick (like in other clubs, too)

.Are they big trouble makers in Germany ?

Normally not, only when they made the short trip to Braunschweig in the Lower Saxonian Derby. They can't stand each other. And then there were the incidents when they celebrated their promotion to the Bundesliga during their away match (was it at Heidenheim? Don't know yet, but they went too far and demolished some equipment of the stadium. This will be punished by the German FA and maybe even the UEFA. Rightly so...pricks (Hannover 96 is also called "little HSV" because their full name is "Hannoverscher SportVerein von 1896". So compared to the real HSV they are little :D

Tomorrow we'll see the first match of this years DFB Cup, so competition football starts in Germany, too.
HSV will play on Sunday at VfL Osnabrück. Although the VfL is actually only in the 3rd Liga (in their glory days they were a regular in the 2nd Bundesliga), matches at the Bremer Brücke Stadium are always hard for any away team

So far, all Bundesliga teams advanced to the next round of the Cup. All? Nah, i think you already know what comes next: HSV is 0-2 down actually at 3rd Liga Club VfL Osnabrück. To make this even worse, the Lower Saxonians are playing shorthanded since the 19th minute (and scored 2 goals since then). FFS! :hb::ffs:

edit: 3-0 I can't take anymore of this crap. 3-1 now, penalty (what else)
