They are clearly in MELTDOWN.

FGR were a typical Mark Cooper team at our place. Horrible, spoiling, time wasting tactics from the start. Unfortunately the tactics worked and they beat us 1-0.

Funnily enough, the best footballing side seen at Valley Parade so far, were Oldham, yet we beat them 3-0

Presume you weren't at the game then?.

Granted, we didnt do enough to break you down, and your tactics worked for you on the day, but it was horrible anti-football you served up.

Credit to the other two teams to beat us this season though, Crewe and Cheltenham, who played football that is easy on the eye, especially Crewe

It’s not exactly unexpected after the summer we had, but we’re quite shit. If everyone could kindly keep lumping the ball in the air like a Conference side when attacking us it’d be much appreciated. None of this running around behind our quadriplegic tortoises at centre back and crossing it lark.

Pity we’re so bad at the back as we can occasionally play some entertaining - if direct - stuff going forwards. A season of treading water above the relegation zone awaits, methinks. Hopefully next summer will see us reverse all of the sentimental contract extensions that have seen us lumbered with a squad that is comprised of roughly 50% who aren’t up to this level.

I think what the first dozen or so games tells us so far is that it doesn't look like there is going to be one dominant force this season. From 1st to 16 is seperated by just 8 points and the league, for me, is completely open. If you were to ask me now which teams will finish top 7, I don't think i'd be very confident at all.

Again, looking at the table I have been surprised by Cheltenham, Crawley, Cambridge and Crewe (although that's naievety on my part as I hadn't realised they had ended last season so well) and disappointed by Salford, Scunny and Mansfield. That's not to say those clubs can't have a say in the end of season promotion shake-ups come May.

I have only seen us play twice, on Ifollow. We were very good against Macclesfield and not very good against Northampton, who themselves weren't good themselves. (deja vu for a lot of our home games over the last 3 years) If we are going to go up this season we really have to sort out our below par home form, it has been our achilles for ages now. Injuries certainly aren't helping either. Our Captain Dion Conroy has knacked his knee again and is likely to be out for about 3/6 months (waiting on scan results today) and we have had important players out injured which has shown how weak our squad depth is.

I think its going to be an exciting season where everyone appears to be capable of taking points off each other.
