A manager should never be saying a home defeat to a promotion rival is a "decent result" :dk:
He didn't say that, he said not too much harm done with the other results going our way, he did not say that losing was a decent result!!

It's a shame he didn't because I think any time Grimsby lose is a decent result. :woo:

He said he could see positives, I see absolutely no positives.

Oh and 4 losses in 7 then, if you can see positives in that I feel for anybody that deluded.

Were you and Urban both sacked from your previous jobs on the Samaritans switchboard?!
I didn't say it was positive, I was simply correcting your false rant.

To be fair Pontoon has a reason to be negative, living on Grimsby and all.

I on the other hand, have no excuses.

I'm sunning myself 3 days a week in Cyprus at the minute, no negativity on that one. If anything it's brilliant to not have to watch the negative dross that Frealaf and co. sadly still keep thinking is actually any good or going to take us up.

As long as we're in the playoffs right?

I think it is more a case of some of us just trying to get behind the team no matter what, rather than people like yourself who just look for any reason whatsoever to be negative.
Exagerating Hursts comments and quoting something that he never actually said, being a prime example of this.

Grimsby fans - have to say, I really love the away bar! Really good setup that! Was impressed with the stewards too, they let us stand all game which I was not expecting

You must have loved coming to our place, where I seem to remember we closed the bar for home fans and only let away supporters in.

Personally I don't see why you should constantly just settle for paying to see something that isn't working and have a manager blame it on everything but himself.

People are prepared to just settle for second best and it's incredibly frustrating.

For me it's not accepting second best, I wish we were better too but I am not going to turn my back on them and stop going just because we are having a bad patch.

It's not a 'bad patch' it's called not being good enough for 3 seasons now and Hurst not doing enough about it

It is a bad patch. Before these 2 defeats we had won 3 on the bounce including 2 superb performances against Barnet and Eastleigh where we could have scored a bag-full of goals in each.
Yet all you want to do is concentrate on the negative, I just don't get it, it seems like you would rather we lose and play shit so you can have a reason to moan and slag Hurst off.
I would rather just support my team, no matter what.

Gotta side with Lew on this one. I want to stay positive and support the side but Hurst does nothing to inject any sort of faith or belief. He makes some decent signings, no fantastic ones I must add, but decent ones none the less. Half the time I'm not sure he even knows what to do with them. He prides himself on setting us up to be negative and match the opposition instead of playing our own game, yet we still concede stupid goals. Plan B? Haven't had one of those for years.

It's not a bad patch, it's numerous seasons of blatant inconsistency. "But we're in the conference, all sides are inconsistent" is a bollocks excuse as well. Barnet aren't, Rovers aren't, even Macclesfield aren't and they were tipped to go down ffs. I appreciate that we do have good runs and I don't overreact when we have a few bad results, but the more it happens the more it paints the picture. We have not improved in the slightest for 2 seasons and there's nothing to suggest we'll do any better in the play-offs, should we even stay there.

I feel like I make a post like this every other week and I've never been someone to be negative for the sake of it. I would never tell anybody to not support their team no matter how bad things get, but there's something toxic about supporting something that doesn't work. Of course there's still a great chance we can go up, but I'll say it again, it wouldn't be down to Hurst, it would be down to luck.

A Farcry from that week when you smashed Gateshead 6-1 at their gaff and embarrassed us 7-0? Some of your fans were saying you would go unbeaten for the whole season!!?

Then, somehow, they visited the Rec and lost!!

IIRC we played a specific formation with Neilson behind the strikers in a free role, worked wonders evidently. Didn't stop Pauly from changing it up though.

Thats because fans are fickle, you were poor and the Gateshead game could easily have finished 10-10.

No, Hurst changed things. What sort of manager changes things after results like that? He stopped Neilson from playing in his best position and used him as a scapegoat when he didn't perform to the same standard.

In those two games he cracked it, he's only himself for being such a negative bloke that he decided to tighten things up by dropping the free role behind the strikers and sit somebody further back. The guy is absolutely infuriating.

Sometimes I think you're actually Paul Hurst.
I also think you would prefer to be a Lincoln fan. You want to see attacking football at the expense of the defense. Hence why you enjoyed drawing 3-3 with Alfreton last season just so that we can win 6-1 one game out of 20

Not true, we conceded one goal in the Alfreton and Gateshead games. What I'd like to see is some actual intent in home games and an actual plan B. It's not a lot to ask in 3 years is it? Our stats on games turned around from losing positions under Hurst is nothing short of dreadful.

No I don't think they are boring more like frustrated being around the play off's every year but not actually succeeding in there aims. Grimsby as a club should really be in the football league but unfortunately the current team are not consistant enough to get them there.I think they need a Matt Tees type of player again.
