Shaun Rooney has left York and signed for Scottish club Queen of the South.
Another one of McNamara signings has left the building,Robinson also left earlier this week. All players he dished out 2 year contracts too and I can't believe we didn't have to pay up his contract.
With every player leaving he signed the gloom lifts.

It looks even better with a packed out away end...: :ds:

Yes that was a great turnout- went a bit quiet for a while when you went 3-0 down after 30 minutes though :bdick:. Hate to tell you this........ erm, Chorley brought more than you did . I honestly think The Shay is an unacknowledged gem in terms of atmosphere too- when it gets going, the noise in there is second to none. A couple of groundhoppers at the Promotion Final last month said they'd "never experienced an atmosphere like it in this country".

I dunno, I thought the 'we know what we are, were fucking spoilt we know what we are' chants at 3-0 down sounded quite loud. :gr:

As David Curries Mullett has mentioned above, we have signed centre-half Dominic Collins following his release from Fylde on a two-year deal.

Seems like he was a real fans favourite over there for the past 2 years, so I'm quite pleased with this signing as he may be exactly what we need.

I am slightly optimistic about our chances next season. We have managed to keep the majority of our squad together, only losing Josh Falkingham to now full-time Harrogate. The retaining of Phil Turnbull and Mark Beck is huge for us.

Kidderminster seem to have lost a fair amount of their squad (Tunnicliffe, Angol, Lowe, Hodgkiss, Gnahoua). Stockport have also lost their best attacker and best midfielder, IMO, in Danny Lloyd and Lewis Montrose. Although they have brought in Warburton from Curzon Ashton who is a very good player.

Salford have strengthened significantly however, and I expect them to run away with it. Crocombe, Livesey, Piergianni, Mafuta, Maynard, Shelton & Hogan all proven players in this league or the one above.

If we can add a couple more (centre-forward and a winger or centre-midfielder) we have a real chance of hitting top 5 again (with hopefully enough seats!).

Apparently the National League North play-off final is going to be held at a neutral venue. MK Dons is a possibility but it is as yet undecided.

Only one sensible place it should be held- a place that is close to the centre of gravity of the Conference North, is steeped in history, has hosted matches the nation still talks about, can comfortably accommodate any crowd the clubs can throw at it, and offers an acoustic experience that will leave your ears still ringing at bedtime. Yes, I am talking about the magnificent Mbi Shay Stadium, home of FC Halifax Town.

I could certainly go with that suggestion B2TF, thoroughly enjoyed the experience if disappointed with the ultimate outcome this season, glad , we, the Chorley fans played our part in the occasion.

Well our 'will they stay or go' process is pretty much over now with good news our best midfielder Alex Brown is staying........not easy these summers where our whole squad can leave!

Leaves us with 3 first teamers gone. On whole we are better off than one year ago, but weaker than one month ago.

Stronger defence and central midfield than last summer, kept our targetman (vital at this level for me) but lost our tricky player and a 20 goal striker.

Had to find both last summer so manager will be used to what is needed

Alex Brown is indeed a fine player. I'd have him back here in a trice.

Harrogate have signed central defender Terry Kennedy who was released by us.

Terry Kennedy is an absolute warrior of a defender. He will give you everything and is prepared to put his body on the line for the cause. He is a ok defender at this level but is always capable of an big error. A good signing for a bottom half side but not the type of defender in my opinion who is going to get you promoted from this league. Here is one of his errors v Bradford PA last season -

Ryan Wilson and Sam Smith who were also released by us have signed for Coalville Town and Buxton respectively.

Darren Stephenson has joined Stockport on a 2 year deal from Tranmere, Darren is a good player at this level but has had two bad injuries over the last 3 seasons. He had a bad knee injury playing for Chorley v Guiseley and was out for the rest of that season then after leaving Chorley, following a successful return from the injury he was injured again playing for Fylde against Chorley on Boxing Day, don't think he played again after that. Good luck to him, but not against us obviously.

Very happy with this - didn't know if Stephenson was getable as he was still under contract at Tranmere, but I hoped we would be after him or Durell to replace Lloyd so really happy with the signing and hopefully he will stay injury free.

Sounds like some of our other targets are with clubs as well so we could be waiting a about a month until our squad is complete.

Away friendly games at Brighouse, North Ferriby, Gainsborough and Alfreton- its good that we help out The Tin Potters with a bumper pay day against a real football club, before we bring some of our Football League brother clubs to The Shay.:bdick:

Ow yea. They will be queuing for miles to watch the mighty Halifax in a friendly. Real bumper payday. Who doesn't want to watch the very worst of the REAL football teams?

We have signed 21 year old winger Ryan Jennings. Made 1 appearance for Curzon last season apparently in a home draw v Stalybridge? Remember much about him Big Dave? Know its difficult from just the one game!

Its one of only two home games I never went to sadly. Hard to say what he's like, we were strong on wings last season so may have struggled to get in for that reason.

Thought you were now of a budget to get stronger class of player......but its hard to say this level as players can be good one club and not at next

Everything is not quite right with this "new investment". Deals for Drench and Gowling have fallen through and communication from the club has been slow. Looks like a similar side to last season at the moment. All that initial excitement has worn away now!

he Looks like a bit of an unknown quantity which in many ways accurately describes us at the moment!

So as we head towards the middle of pre-season a couple of questions.

1: What are you currently hoping you can do next season.

2: What areas do you still need to improve in to achieve that?

Further signings announced today for Alfreton.

Tom Platt who was released by Harrogate and Mason Springthorpe on a one year deal from Southport. Also previously played for Telford and Northwich Victoria. hile it is confirmed that Tom Allan has signed a new deal.

Have to say I am not blown away and pretty dissapointed. Looks like another season of struggle. Would be happy with 19th I think.
