Cook rejected a new contract, TT stuck to his guns and came out with a better player overall... Martelus Bennett.

Seems to be universal plaudits for the Patriots acquiring Cooks but given what they gave up and that they'll have to pay him big in a year... I reckon Saints have got the better of that. They clearly feel they can replace Cooks production as well.

There is the fifth year option we have on him so technically it's two years if we choose to pick that up in May I believe it is.

I'm just grateful it's only draft picks to be honest. Really did not want to lose Malcolm Butler for a receiver. I'll be interested how he fits in to this offense though as we haven't had that straight up speedster on the outside since Moss.

Yeah i soon realised afterwards that there's the 5th year thatll surely be picked up. I cede ground somewhat as that certainly balances it out a lot better.

I'm not convinced Cooks is as good as the reputation, and while is better than all bar Edelman (though very different roles) it doesnt perhaps send a ringing endorsement of Hogan or Mitchell's ceiling. I wonder, if anything, that its more a sign of continually evolving the offense to move away from the focus on Gronk then Edelman to prevent opposition teams gradually catching up on working out how best to confront it.

Any interest in fantasy-type NFL game on a different forum? You take control of a team, retain a number of players from last season, and then we do a full draft to fill remaining roster spots. All drafting is done via message board posts so isn't one big shebang night, the game has been running for 10+ years.

It's a small but good NFL community of mainly UK-based members, and we need a couple of people to take up the HC roles for a couple of teams. At the weekend we had results night, I (Cardinals) finished 30th of 32, my deliberate attempts to tank for the 32nd spot and get the first pick in the draft failed...

It's a great game - you can trade your picks and players, put together a roster and it's a good sized forum for NFL chat (only has about 30/35 active members).

Panthers, Seahawks, Texans and possibly the Packers.

The teams are all but names though - Panthers and Seahawks have good strong squads of players you can choose to retain, Texans have Brady (I think).

If anyone takes a team though will definitely need to stick with it til the end of the draft - can't be coming out half way through. Never before have I looked before indepth at depth charts to see if there are any starting right giards left in the pot :)

Raiders officially given the go ahead to relocate to Vegas. Why do I get the feeling this is going to be a total clusterfuck like the Chargers decision to move to LA? *sigh*

Talent wise there is no doubt he could probably improve all bar about 6 teams QB situation but I think it's the right decision given his injury history. Get out with his money and avoid further damage to his body which would surely have happened if he played on.

Hopefully CBS can put him in place of Phil Simms in the booth.

Would've done well to do that still serving his initial life sentence, will find it even harder now he's dead.

Planning on honeymooning in California in September, was hoping the schedule would be kind and I could throw in a little stop to Houston on the way home. Hasn't quite worked out.

49ers vs Rams could be be on the cards though.

Great draft so far! I thought only the Jets made moves in drafts like we saw from the Bears, they've paid Glennon a ton of money and now got rid of a load of draft picks to move up 1 place!!
The other trades are baffling with what the teams gave up, Mahomes and Watson are good fits for the schemes they are joining and Watson is likely to start straight off as things currently stand, but giving up next years 1st rounders as well, too rich, when next years QB draft class is so, so much better than this.
Texans now don't have a 1st or 2nd round pick next year, lets hope Watson works out better than Brock.

    Bears will be Bears.

Whilst I get the logic, I'm not going to pretend it wasn't massively irritating to be up 3 and a half hours only for us to trade back at the last minute.

Had to be out of the door by half 8 :(

The Browns and 49er's did very well trading down in the draft I feel especially as the Brown's will have two First rounders next year as well. Also I like Panthers picking McCaffrey who I thought was probably the best reciever on the board

Was hoping the bears would trade down to build up draft capital for next year, to try and take a swing at a QB from next year's class (which I agree looks so much better). That's why the Glennon move didn't look that bad business.

Just seems like someone panicked and they changed the strategy last minute. Apparently Trubisky didn't hear a word from Chicago for weeks before the draft, screams a team that don't know what they are doing and made a panicked decision.

Loved what the 9ers were able to do, definite winners last night for me. Tampa got the best individual value pick, that offense is seriously scary now. Jets, Saints (#11) and Colts all made good picks but they were fairly straightforward with how the board fell. Bills got a decent player and some additional capital so good job there too.

Chicago  Poor trade, poor selection, you'd better sit that kid all year regardless of Glennon, that's the only hope he has to learn enough.

Browns moved around well but not convinced about Peppers or Njoku particularly, although I agree with their decision not to go QB. Think Budda Baker is a better secondary fit for them and would've taken Cook with 29, but Njoku is very young, maybe he'll be developed enough by the time they eventually get their QB in.

Kansas City, Tennessee, Denver, NYG and Oakland all get a thumbs down from me for differing reasons. Houston I'm letting off the hook for now because of Watson's ability to win, rather than his talent.

Vikings in good shape at #48, lots of good players on the board still, both in positions we need and positions we don't, so hopefully at least one will drop to us, or near enough that we can move up a couple of spots. If any of Lamp, Robinson, McDowell or Cunningham fall our way I'll be delighted.

9ers definitely winners of the night, picked up loads of extra picks, and got two players who most would have had in their Top 10.
Bears definitely losers as it stands, but if Trubisky becomes brilliant then it will have been worth it for them (you can say that about any QB draft though)
Texans did the best of any team drafting a QB, think he's set up to have a very good year in that team.

Excited to see how many times Andy Dalton is going to underthrow a 4.22 receiver. Offense looking pretty sweet aside from that horror show of an O-line.

We need a pass rusher desperately but after the way we've dealt with Pacman this offseason we might as well go full-scumbag and take Joe Mixon (also a lot more forgiving as he's a running back and I hate Jeremy Hill that much).

There is also Dalvin Cook as well it will be interesting to see where both of them land I have no doubts someone will take a chance on both at some point in the draft.

big fan of teams double dipping in the draft (unless you take two tackles called Cedric Ogbuehi & Jake Fisher) - Maye & Adams could be a ridiculous safety tandem for NYJ

Pick Joe Mixon here lads, time to revive the deplorables tag, it's the only thing we're good at.

Ah, we've traded down and someone else will get him. Never mind. Another year of Jeremy Hill. See you all in 2018.
