Cos the offence has been great, mostly. Ortiz is leading the league in everything, and the young guys they persisted with whilst shit was bad have really figured things out - Bogaerts, JBJ & Betts have been really good. Cutting their losses on Sandoval and figuring out a place to stick Hanley has helped too, especially defensively.

Pitching remains a bit of an adventure though, to say the least. Chuff knows where they would be without Wright.

Not entirely delighted with giving up Espinoza for Pomeranz but I am glad that they did _something_.

We've managed to go from 2nd to 22nd in runs scored, thanks to Arod and Tex both hitting walls.

I'm all for trading everyone except Didi and Tanaka at this point.

Surely we can't actually let the Cubs win it all, is nothing sacred in sports anymore? The Cleveland Browns will have an above average QB next.

Why wouldn't you want the Cubs to win the WS? The Yankees won't be playing in October so I'll be rooting for them this Autumn.

As for the Browns having a decent QB, yeah right! I think there's a better chance of my Chargers winning the SB than that happening.

If Theo can end the Red Sox AND Cubs droughts then he should retire from this baseball lark and run for Emperor of the Universe, or summat.

Miller to the Indians for 2 of their 3 top prospects. Miller is great but we're not going to be much better than a .500 team this year, and probably next year too.

I expect them to go after Chapman in the winter now.

Acquired Rea and Cashner on Friday to bolster the rotation and Rea leaves with elbow soreness and now on the DL. Class.

Sad to lose Miller and Beltron, but I gather we got quite the haul for both of them and did well with the Chapman trade too, although I'm not sorry to see him go.

We could also make a run at Chapman and Beltron in the summer too.

So that's the season done with effectively, and possibly 2017 too. We had to rebuild though, and this gives us a better chance of getting better quicker. The fact we made the play offs last year helps.

Has anyone read The Best Team Money Can Buy by Molly Knight? If so, is it any good?

Arod playing his last game Friday, I expect him to pinch hit later today.

Can't say I'm sad to see his career end, given his PEDs, but he's meant to have a brilliant baseball mind, so happy the organisation are keeping him around in some way. I think he'll be a GM or major league hitting coach within 5 years.

And the Arod era is over. I'm a little sad, but only because he was the last Yankee from the first team I saw at old Yankee stadium, 11 years ago. Ortiz is probably the only player from that game still playing. I won't be sad to see him go.

I saw Arod play 7 or 8 times and never saw him hit a home run. Strangely, I've seen Jeter the same number of games I think, and I've seen him hit 3 homers.

Wade Boggs at Yankee Stadium today as the 96 team was honoured; how much does that sting Carel? ;)

Maybe not...

Stanton out til the end of the season with a groin strain, apparently looking at A-Rod as a replacement. Might fancy the idea of moving to Miami for his retirement.

Don't know where he'd play there, so it would purely be as a pinch hitter. Still, will only cost league minimum. Would it put bums on seats in Miami?

I would imagine so.

I can't see it adding too many on to the crowds, seems to be a lot of apathy in Miami towards sport in general (minus Basketball perhaps), dolphins and Marlins get very low crowds considering the size of the place and lack of teams around them.

Small sample size I know, but Gary Sanchez is looking good. Rookie Of the Year if he keeps this up?
