Who the fuck are Ah-Ahly or Zamalek? I'd take that out and swap it for Ebbsfleet v Dartford.

at least 2 aren't even Derbies .........welcome

Some claim that a derby is a match between 2 teams from the same city but others say it's a match between teams from the same area( https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/derby ).

So his list is more the latter (Liv-ManU or Juve-Milan, Real vs Barca).

Biggest Club Derbys in Germany:
"Ruhrpott-Derby (aka Revier Derby)" between Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund, the fiercest rivalry in the Bundesliga (and to a lesser extend the "Northern Derby" between HSV and Werder Bremen, the most played Derby in the Bundesliga)

It's not decided by distance. It's decided by how you really don't want to be part of it, but you can't leave it because the will to destroy the counterpart and never have to go through another derby day again is what defines you as a person. I don't want to have a derby. I don't want them to exist. Not for one single breath.. and I sure won't tell you which game it is so that they can feel well for having such a "great derby". Even to make such a list as this is pathetic.

1.3 British A sports match between two rival teams from the same area.

Please contact Oxford Dictionaries powered by Oxford University Press (which is in the UK) and let them correct this. I am sure they'll obey asap. :fart:

I does not surprise me that you think Liverpool v United is a derby.

edit: uni67 : UK footy mag FourFourTwo made 2016 a list of the 50 biggest derbies in the world: http://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/fourfourtwos-50-biggest-derbies-world
They put Boca Juniors vs River Plate on #1 (which is #3 on your list) and Celtic vs Rangers on #3 with Barca vs Real on #2, so that are the same Top 3 like your Top3 only the order is changed. (Schalke vs Dortmund is on #9 in their list.)

more to the point....why is there an apostrophe in derby's in the thread title and O P ?

Educational standards are slipping but there's no excuse with the spell checkers available.

It's all subjective. A Bristol Rovers (I know it's been a while) versus Bristol City match for instance will be as passionate as any other 'derby'. It may not resonate on the national scale like so called 'bigger clubs'. But for that day and for weeks before and after. It'll be all their respective fans will be talking about and nothing else will matter.
A derby is only important to the fans of the two teams in the big scheme of things. I mean I may have a passing interest in Everton v Liverpool, or Man City v Man Utd, but not more than I would in a Rochdale v Oldham derby. One way or another I'll think 'Oh that'll upset one set of fans' but won't be bothered about it the day before or the day after. Those two sets of fans will until the next game, or until parity is restored.
Our derby is such that our/their fans are only allowed to travel by bus from our/their home stadium and with a police convoy. Beating our arch- enemy means nothing much to fans of other clubs, but to us, or them; beating the local rivals is far more important.

Excellent post Tubes and explains what 'a derby' means to the two sets of supporters.

Bury is Greater Manchester. Could never be considered local rivals even if they were at our level. Blackburn Rovers has been our local rivals since 1888 and still will be despite their fall from grace under dodgy owners.

You were indeed correct. Just pointing you in the direction of Bury being on the outskirts of Greater Manchester. Their traditional rivals would be Rochdale, Oldham and these days Bolton Wanderers.

As pathetic as supporters invading the pitch and attacking players and manager (who is also a club legend) after losing a relegation play off match in Sweden?

You don't know anything about HIF uni67. A relegation isn't something to take lightly and we need our supporters. Part of what led up to this absurd scenario is exactly how the standard support has been cut out due to excessive moralism. It's pushed our attendances down to incredible lows and effectivly reduced market value, cause they've failed to replace the people who would really want to see our games. Our crowd used to be more passionate aswell as bigger but I have no doubts that the old crowd would have taken precisely the same stand against Henrik. There is nothing to be ashamed of there.
