Top of the table Sheffield United go to Bristol Rovers hoping to win their 2nd away game in a few days and extend their lead at the top. Bristol Rovers are no pushovers at home though and will also feel they can pick up a result too.

Worried that we might be a bit stretched for this one. A few players looked out on their feet on Saturday. Praying that Bodin is back in time.

That being said, 3 losses at home in last 30 is still hard to ignore.

1-1

7 points from our next 3 matches would be a massive step towards finishing top 2. We are so so desperate to get out of this league, it's been like serving a prison sentence.

So I would settle for a draw if it meant home wins against Scunthorpe and Bolton.

The current stats look very good for Sheff Utd, this explains why we should be confident.

Sheff Utd are on a run of having more possession that the oppostion for 17 consecutive league matches, going back to the MK Dons game on 29th Oct where MK had 51% possession compared to our 49% that game.

In those 17 matches we've had more shots, more shots on target and more corners than the opposition in every match apart from once, away at Southend.

Also in our last 13 away game the record is
Played 13, won 8, drawn 3 and lost 1

Quietly confident about this one. Obviously we need to keep Sharp quiet. Hopefully Sweeney will have him in his back pocket. If that happens, I reckon we can nick a win.
However, I'd be delighted with a draw.
I'd like to see Easter brought back in, though I can't see it and think Harrison will start.
Lumley
Partington Lockyer Sweeney Brown
Bodin Clarke Lines Sinclair
James Harrison/Easter
Praying that Bodin is back in time.
DC confirmed that Bodin's absence was due to illness. So hopefully he'll be back.

Big week for the Blades. Two away games in succession including this long distance trek. Wilder will have to make full use of the squad. Coutts and Ebanks Landell should be fresh having not played at P'boro. By all accounts Duffy looked tired on Sat.
May be good opportunity to start with Carruthers and O'Shea.

Scunny will probably have fresher legs than us next Saturday.

Hopefully the matches will go in our favour tonight

Why will Scunny have fresher legs?

They would have been chasing the game for half hour or so at the weekend and also play tonight.

I could be wrong here but I don't think they have the squad to rotate in the same way that Sheff Utd do either.

Sheffsteel has posted some very impressive stats above which show why the Blades are 5 points clear at the top of L1. They should clearly be playing a a higher level and I'm pretty sure this season they'll go up as Champions.

We do have a good home record but not great against the top sides. I think I'm right in saying Fleetwood are the only side in the top 10 we've beaten this season, home or away.

Can't see past an away win I'm afraid.

Got a weird feeling we'll nick this one 2-1, not sure why.

Watch us lose 6-1 now

Setting off in an hour I always say I'm not going to these long distance Tuesday night games then always end up going like an idiot. It will be a very tough game tonight rovers are very strong at home but we are also pretty good away as well. I wouldn't take a draw but it wouldn't be a bad result at all. I just feel as though these next 3 games are a great opportunity to give us a bit of breathing space.

Rovers 1-2 blades Hanson and sharp to score. Att. 9135 (1198 blades).

It was another rediculous statement from s74 blade.

He's getting the excuses in early on the off chance that we beat them.

Probably the wrong term. Point I was making was that Scunny have two home games in a week and then a short hop over to Sheffield whereas the Blades have had one reasonably long distance away match and then a mid week trek to the South West.
No more no less. Before you reply I do appreciate it's not Siberia

Absolutely fucking bizarre team selection tonight, 5 changes made. No sharp, Hanson not even in the squad, no freeman. Hope I'm wrong but I have a feeling this may backfire now. Anyway always trust the manager utb

Obviously Hanson is injured so that's forced. Coutts back in is fine but dropping sharp , duffy and freeman is very very risky

Agree it's risky but there is a logic to it.

We have some excellent squad players so he's giving them a chance to impress. Still has some of our main players on the bench if it goes pear shaped.

Duffy, Sharp, Freeman, Ebanks- Landell and Carruthers get a rest in preparation the massive home games coming up Saturday and next week.

1st half I thought we had the 2 best chances but we're never in any control of the game at all. 1st 15 mins of the 2nd half we had our best spell and needed to take advantage, after that rovers were the better side and maybe could of won at the end. All in all a reasonable game for a 0-0 and a fair result imo.

Listened to it on the radio, we rested a few players but still played OK and got a deserved point in an entertaining game.

Again we had more possession, that's 18 games in a row.
More corners, that's occurred 17 times out of our last 18 matches
And more shots with more on target, that's occurred now 17 times out of our last 18 league matches.

A weird fact for Sheff Utd

Journey man central defender Jake Wright was released by Oxford and joined his old boss at Sheffield United. Obviously the Sheff Utd fans were underwhelmed but

I think Jake Wright has played something like 18 times for Sheff Utd this season and has NEVER been on the losing side

Blades fans are starting to joke that if we play Jake Wright then at least we know we won't lose.

Good game of football I thought, just lacking a little bit of cutting edge from both teams.

Can't believe how quickly our defence has turned around, worst defence in the league prior to the recent spell now looking very very solid.

Both teams could have won it. United hit the post and Gaffney should have done better when rounding the keeper (love that DC called him out of diving btw, it looked it from my angle and I don't particularly like to see it at the best of times but even more when he should have rounded the keeper and scored.)

Overall an enjoyable game, decent atmosphere and a point I would have taken.

Not at all, we've been so poor lately. Think we will get smashed.

A strong point against a strong Sheffield United. I'm happy with the performance, but can't help feeling ever so slightly disappointed that we didn't force a winner in the final stages. I an't believe Gaffney fluffed the one-on-one - it was an absolutely hideous attempt and he should have been booked for diving in the end. We played really well though and can be proud of our efforts.

Unbeaten against Rochdale, Bradford and Sheff Utd in our last three games. We'll definitely take that ahead of Port Vale away on the weekend.
