7-0 last season, it certainly won't be 7-0 this season. I think it will end 1-1 with Shaun Derry getting the sack.

Team to start:

Norris
Halliday Legge Coulson Dunk
Mingoia Berry Newton Elito
McGurk Williamson

Would Cambridge fans prefer a scrappy win which keeps Derry's job safe for another few weeks, or do you feel like you'd rather take another beating with Derry being sacked afterwards for the long term benefit?

The reason I ask is because 2 years ago we came to your place after a woeful start, and I remember thinking it might be for the best long term if we were to get another beating here to seal Kavanagh's fate. We lost 5-0 and Kavanagh was sacked on the Monday morning.

I'll take the win. If he/we can get 7 points from the next 3 games, including a win tomorrow, then I think he'll probably be there at least into November. If we don't do the business against Yeovil and Newport, he'll be on his way anyway.

I think he'll probably be gone before Xmas and possibly in the next few weeks. How I'll feel about that partly depends on who we get to replace him. I don't think he's incapable of being a decent manager but he's currently an inexperienced manager with a group of people around him that seem to have multiplied his deficiencies.

In the words of Cormac McCarthy: "You never know what worse luck your bad luck has saved you from."

In relation to tomorrow, I'd probably go with SVH's team - having considered pairing Dunk and Clark on the left, with Elito pushed up front and Williamson on the bench. I think we might get a decent crowd but haven't a clue on the result.

I don't know what to make of Morecambe this season. Normally we'd expect a tight niggly game and, after their start and ours, a 0-2. Since this is shit or bust for us, if the team can hold their nerve we should be capable of battling out a tight draw or even a win against a team that have lost the last 3.

Sod it. 3-1 to the U's

He's on borrowed time, no doubt about it. However we desperately need 3 points to give everyone a boost and I think another defeat would see him go but also see us in a relegation dog fight. I would rather the 3 points and see him sacked at the end of the season when we've finished below mid-table.

Has Williamson not started the season well?

Nope, shadow of the player he was last season, looked down on confidence in pre-season and was hoping it was "just pre-season", but it's transferred over. Couple that with Joe "Pre-season goal machine" Pigott, and it's been a recipe for disaster.

Absolutely still want us to win, we bloody need it, despite my faith in Derry being severely eroded last weekend, but we really need a minimum of 9 points from the next 4 games to drag us out of this. To be honest the worst result for us tomorrow is probably a draw.

The lineup is a conundrum, it might be best if we just don't play with a left back.....I pray for Coulson over Dallison, Mingoia and Dunk should start on the wings with Newton and Berry (if only because we've not really got any other options except Clark), then it's 2 from Elito, McGurk and Ikpeazu. I think you have to play Elito, he's been our best player for the last month and the only one who's actually scored a goal in a proper game recently. Ikpeazu has looked a handful too and deserves a start, so those two for me, not against McGurk but if he does play it'd have to be at the expense of Elito I think and I'm not sure we're in a position to do that really.

Christ, Williamson AND Pigott - two of the worst strikers we've had in the last few years! You'll be getting Bas Savage next

I always want to us to win, that goes without saying, and I will be doing so again tomorrow because I'm incapable of wanting us to lose even though I fully believe Derry has to go ASAP. The longer he stays here, the more we'll be embroiled in a relegation battle and sadly I don't think he's experienced enough for this sort of fight. Obviously, the perfect scenario would be if we somehow get it together and go on a little unbeaten run and by Jan we're in a comfy mid table position, and then we'll push on from there. But there's also more than a chance of doing this, the board keeps the faith in him, and instead of pushing on, we lose our way again after Jan and we find ourselves back in a relegation dogfight.

In short, I'll be happy with a win but won't be too disappointed with a loss. FWIW, I think it will be a draw which should be enough to get Derry the sack I'd think.

We're terrible and whether the 3pts come tomorrow or not Derry has got to go for me.

Think we'll win 2-1 for what it's worth.

I'd take him right now. Williamson is a good player but Pigott is just awful. Williamson has a bit about him but needs a goal to kickstart his season.

I want a win today, none of this wanting a defeat just to get Derry out. I think he's got 3 games left where he has to get at least 6 points, otherwise he's gone.

It's a shame it's reached this point. He has been unlucky with injuries to Corr, McGurk and Dunk all at the beginning of the season and these coincided with Williamson not continuing last season's form and Piggott not continuing his pre season form.

But we've been woeful in midfield and defence too, and we've not really been missing many in those positions so Derry has to take the blame there.

Derry comes across as a nice guy, maybe too nice to be a successful manager. I'd love it to work but even I (a perennial hoper) am struggling to have faith in him.

Not at the match as I couldn't make it although I sure tried to be there but to no avail, so can't really comment except to say this sounds awful on the radio*. It's clear Derry's out of his depth, and the fact we're losing again makes no difference to the way I see things. He's lost the dressing room just like Money did before him, or he's really completely inept as I've always believed. Please go away Shaun while there's still time for us to get out of this mess.

If the score remains the same then it's a blessing in disguise.

*after the 26th min as I missed the first 25 mins.

I know I said 3 games earlier but that's it for me. Derry to go now please. And Luke Berry cost us that game today with that ridiculous challenge. Needs to look at himself hard after that.

What did Berry do then Laker? One of those needless fouls?

Gave away the penalty with a stupid trip, so poor. We were reasonably comfortable up to then.

Apperently an irritating shit Uncle Fester immitator crossed the line and was laid out by Leon in the tunnel after the match - just to top a cracking saturday afternoon.

There are benefits from being a 3CW. Barrow and my other club(s) march on. but it doesn't help much.

Let's see how Jez and DD pick up the pieces next week.

Luke Berry tossed it off yesterday and let us all down terribly. Derry has lost the dressing room and his time is up.

Who next? god knows.

It sounds like negotiations may have started after the match on Saturday, with Leon and Shaun as a joint negotiating team.

Newport would probably be our lowest saturday away following for a few years if Derry is still here but I can't imagine he will be.

I might reconsider and go myself if, by some miracle, we had a new manager by then.

Still can't fathom how this whole thing is unfolding exactly as the County fans said it would. This only means that Derry has learned absolutely nothing from his Notts experience, and imo, only the most stubborn of people repeat their past mistakes. I don't know how many times he assured us he was 'learning' during his pre/post match interviews.
