I think last night was an extroardinary display of media influence in the English game.

Whenever any Scottish side does badly in Europe, it is inevitably an embarrassment to Scottish football. Celtic losing to Man City? Embarrassment, all of Scottish football is to blame.

Arsenal getting hammered 10-2 over two legs to Bayern? An absolute embarrassment for Arsenal and Wenger specifically, nothing mentioned about English football, nothing about the diabolical performances in the tie from the likes of Gibbs and the 'Ox'.

The EPL brand is incredibly powerful, neigh untouchable, they will gladly throw someone under the bus rather than take any criticism themselves. For the self proclaimed best league in the world, they'll be lucky to have one side in the QF - and even they will be destroyed were they to meet anyone who is actually good.

What is going wrong with English football? Why is the side that finished second last year getting beaten 10-2 by a German side? Footballs coming home, indeed.

What is going wrong with Spanish football? Why is the side currently lying a clear third getting beaten by England's 15th best side? I can only imagine that there must be a rather small pool of "actually good" clubs if high flying European sides are not only failing to destroy, but actually losing, to our puny English outfits!

With us being able to concentrate on 1 competition like last season we'll win this, piece of piss. Real, Barca and Monaco are all in tight fights for their domestic title. We wisely chose to avoid that distraction this year. Juventus are already scared shitless of us as Buffon trembles in fear at the mere prospect of drawing us. Dortmund are pish and Atletico are pish, and both need to concentrate on staying in the cl places in their leagues so they'll be shitting themselves and prioritising the league too. So it's only really Bayern that stand any kind of chance and they're a bit wet really aren't they?
