Mignolet should be reinstated. I never felt as nervous in a red's keeper as I do, seeing Karius coming for crosses.
Karius has been better than Mignolet on most things tbh. On crossing he improved immensely (and is better than Oblak at that by the way), commands his box better, links up with the defense better, and (generally) has much better distribution too. Migs surpasses him on shot-stopping and on pens, but I was more confiedent on a pass back under Karius than I definitely was under Migs. Things have changed now though, and neither should be #1 if we are serious about competing on all fronts.

Paggers is not wrong when it comes to Karrius not being good enough, he clearly has a mistake in him (or two). Imagine how good they would be with someone like De Gea in goal! Definitely challenge for the title.
to be fair barring Reina, and perhaps Friedel there's not be a top level goalkeeper at Anfield for a long time.

Showing my age a little but Grobelaar was good in a team that played it around at the back and you could still pick it up.

After the rule change in 92 Liverpool seemed to struggle picking a keeper suited to that change, James came in and picked up his nickname, I liked Dudek but he wasn't at that top level, Westerveld too and a plethora of misfits or players not given a chance, Arpehexad in the former, Kirkland and Carson the later.

I'm not teaching grandma to suck eggs but almost every title winning team since Liverpool last won it have had a great goalkeeper, Seaman, Schmeichel, Cech.

Be nice if Klopp remedies it but think he will be loyal to Karius.

So he suffered* a concussion right before making his first two big mistakes all season.

But yeah bin him!

* As in accidentally elbowed in the fucking head by the player who half an hour earlier took out our best player by accident.
Odd comments (below) from Chris Sutton on the BBC article. No reason for this to have been kept private at all.

In fact if it gets people more aware of concussions happening and so could help with future incidents with other players, it's a good thing to get it out in the open.

"It maybe would have been better for him to keep that to himself. What happened happened.

Concussion is a very serious thing. He made two horrendous errors and I felt really sorry for him. I don't think he will ever get over this.

I don't really see the point in coming out and saying this as people will inevitably say he is making an excuse, which it may well be.

I think it should have been kept under wraps."

Agree with Sutton on the the excuse bit. He fucked up, deal with it rather than trying to write it off as concussion. Hopefully it's not Klopp and the club laying the groundwork for him continuing as number one.

Translation - "Concussions are serious enough to warrant non-disclosure".

An interesting angle from Chris.

He must have been concussed a few times that season then.
Any one incident in mind? He’s been solid all season and before the concussion he has, off my memory, made zero big mistakes this season.

This is genuinely absurd. “Trying to write it off as a concussion”? What makes you say that? Did he make it up? Does a concussion not make a goalkeeper more likely to drop a clanger? I really don’t see what you’re getting at.

Yeah, we've already established we have different opinions on this Bilo. It comes as no surprise to me you're happy to buy into what has today been quoted and attribute his two fuck ups to Ramos' vile actions. In the same way I'm sure it comes as no surprise to you that I choose to believe it's now being deliberately played up to excuse his mistakes, rather than actually causing them.

A horrible translation of Ramos' comments, today...

"Fuck they have given a ball to the issue of Salah ... I did not want to talk about it because in the end it is magnified but seeing the play well he grabs me first by the arm and I fall to the other side, in fact the other arm is injured And they say that I have made a judo key there, then the doorman says he was shocked by a collision with me, and it is only necessary for Firmino to say that he had a cold because a drop of sweat fell on me. Also Bilo's comments on this situation make me go 'ha...haha...hahahahah'".

I didn't attribute his two mistakes to Ramos' actions, I said that he made his only two big mistakes this season when concussed. Which isn't an opinion, it's a fact. Also, I'm not sure how this is played up? Have you ever been elbowed to a concussion? It rattles you. I think the fair criticism is that Karius really should've been asked to be subbed, but you're the one staring blindly into confirmation bias here. You decided Karius was shit well over a year ago, an assessment way off this entire season (if you could remember any other clangers this season, you'd have mentioned them) and when he finally plays shit, you think it's not relevant that it was in direct connection to Karius being concussed.

You're the one with the very decided standpoint on this, not I. I think we can do better than Karius and if given a clear opportunity we should. I just think you have a completely irrational blind spot for Karius that is so weird that you think "he was concussed, then made two mistakes" is "overplaying it".

It's weird how dismissive people are of the effects of a concussion. It's almost as though the situation must be black and white for people to actually believe in a concussion, like the player is either fine or he's staggering around like a drunk. See Courtois's dismissive comments today because he had a more severe concussion and couldn't see properly. Black and white. No grey matter. :ohn:

It's unfair to say he's just making excuses, maybe he would have made the mistakes anyway, but he has every right to find out if being smacked in the head could have impacted his performance on the night. And it might help save his career if a reasonable club takes this possibility into consideration, it's not an excuse if there's physical evidence that it might have impacted his performance, especially playing in a position that requires intense concentration. Even if it made him lose concentration by 1 or 2 percent, that could be enough to take your eyes off the ball for a second.

Players get mild concussions from heading the ball, let alone being struck in the face by an opposing player. It's fucking moronic of Sutton to attempt to suppress the issue of concussion when it's such a major talking point in a lot of other sports. If you care about the health of your sportsmen/women, take it seriously. Gimp.

I may be giving Sutton more credit than he deserves, but I think he's saying that Karius was better off not saying anything, not because he is just 'making excuses' for a poor performance, but because no matter how true it actually is people will accuse him of just 'making excuses' and professionally that will do him no favours.

Personally, I think that if it goes some way to putting an end to players viciously elbowing 'keepers in the hope of gaining some competitive advantage - which, quite apart from cheating, is also pretty callous and dangerous - then it might be a good thing.
