Remember we were a second tier team, who beat 3 top tier clubs away on the way to Wembley, before deservedly beating Man Utd who went onto beat Barcelona in a European Final only days later.
I believe it was the last time a team from outside the top flight won a major cup final too.

The cup winners cup final was a month later surely, not that it matters. Yes it was a great achievement in all fairness. I'd love to win a cup and watch us away in Europe, I'd happily pack in after that as that's the pinnacle for us really. People say they'd rather go up or stay up instead of winning the fa cup including some of my mates a few years back when we lost to hull in the semis. I'd happily get relegated to any league if it meant we won the cup.

Playing in Europe twice will always be the main highlight, having watched us for over 40 years, I'd seen us drop to the basement and start the slow rise up. We didn't win it obviously, but for a club like us to reach, reaching the last 16 and drawing with Bayern in Bayern was amazing

Funnily enough I remember saying I ought to pack in watching football at the time as that day couldn't be beaten.
Sometimes I wish I had, knowing the shit that was to follow.
You just can't though, start of every season you think this could be the season, then halfway through the season when you're embroiled in a relegation battle, you think this could be the match when it clicks.
Suppose were all the same really, all suckers for punishment.
But speak to any Huddersfield fan at the moment and undoubtedly they will all say all the shite was worth it, for that one day when all their dreams came true.

I think just getting to the premier league is not a dream come true to be fair, ok it was a great achievement from them but I'm sure they'd want to win something for it to be classed as a dream come true they're not exactly what I'd class as a small club, there is certainly a couple smaller in the prem and a couple on a par. Doing what Wigan did then yes that was a superb achievement and a dream come true for clubs like us. A few years up there, a top half finish, league cup final then winning the fa cup, playing in Europe.

I think (with no disrespect to Huddersfield) for me and you winning a cup final would be classed as a dream come true, but for Huddersfield reaching the PL is. It also gives them the opportunity to build their club and in future have an outside chance of winning cup finals ( like both Sheffield clubs) whereas before now that realistically wasn't possible.
At the moment though they are ahead of both Sheffield clubs and should be able to attract better players, meaning for the 1st time in my lifetime, a cup win is more likely for them than either of our clubs.
That won't stop us dreaming though.

I'm guessing Huddersfield fans are gutted by that comment. Crying into their Prosecco right now. That'll hurt.
You still around, thought you may have got a tad bored by now, I know a lot of us have by your posts. First one on my ignore list. Take a bow.

We've apparently given Villa 5000 tickets for our opening home game. Least it will help the ground look 50% full I suppose!

What sort of allocation will we get at St Andrews for our first away game El G/Trev? We weren't given more than 2.6k in 15/16 when we sold it out and last season I think we had just shy of 2k which was our initial allocation - we could sell a big number for this one but I'd be amazed if the WMP allowed it.

Booked my train tickets today, get into Brum for 11am so will probably head to Spoons outside New Street and get a cab in, can't remember there being any pubs close to the ground last time I went?
