I was hoping this was a hoax but it seems his death has been confirmed. Tiote suffered a heart attack, collapsed during a training session and was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. Leaves behind a wife and 3 kids. Only 30 years old... fucking hell.

He got a bit of stick towards the end of his time with us but he was a part of one of our best sides in recent history, was always a nice bloke by all accounts, and always tried his best on the pitch. Thanks for the memories Cheick, that moment against Arsenal wont be forgotten any time soon.

Absolutely loved Tiote, that 4-4 moment will live on in my memory for a very very long time. Terrible news :(

Desperately sad news. He was brilliant in his first year at Newcastle, genuinely Kante-esque and I thought we'd struggle to hold onto him. He'll always be remembered for that goal against Arsenal but that wasn't his game at all, it was all about covering every blade of grass and doing the job of two, if not three midfielders by mopping up play in front of the back four and launching attacks from deep.

Horrible news. He was fantastic that season when Newcastle finish fifth and I agree his performances that season was Kante-esque.

Rest in peace, thoughts to his family and loved ones.

Terrible news, and awful timing for the family he leaves behind. The only solace to take is that football can be a simplistic game, but it is very sentimental. His goal against Arsenal, and so he, will be remembered for a very long time.
