James Jennings has accepted his one year deal.

Happy with that, there aren't many better left backs at this level.

Harold Odametey has left Maidenhead. Don't know where he's going but he's a bottom half NL/top half NL South player, would be higher if he had an end product.

Update: Apparently he's off to Stevenage which is a step too far for him IMO.

Scott Loach confirmed he’s not signing a new deal and leaving at the end of his contract

Gone to Dagenham.
Will miss his all action style, but very much a headless chicken.

We're obviously in no state to be signing anyone at the minute, but would love Loach to have another go here. Was a boyhood Notts fan but never really got a chance here when we signed him for some reason.

Great shot stopper Loach but won’t come for crosses, was nicknamed super glue by the players, played 100 consecutive games for us down here, don’t begrudge him leaving, certainly served his time.

I’ve not heard any rumours about where he’s going but I’d of thought he’d probably wants another crack at League footy whilst his stock is reasonably high.

We have a good keeper right now, in spite of his occasional dickheadery, any side in the NL would be blessed to have him. He must have had an offer from County or some FL team.

I remember his last season for us in L2 he was decent enough for a mid-table side so it’s no surprise he’s done well at this level. He was harshly released by Mansfield to be fair.

On the one hand I’d like to think that we could do better, but on the other, we’d probably regret letting him go. Would most likely be one of those players who plays better once leaving us.. looking at you Jay Harris, Connor Jennings..
Overall he probably had a solid season, but he’s frustrating. He gets himself in a good position ready to cross it, tries to turn back, trips on the ball and loses possession and we get hit on the counter. Saw it countless times last season, including in the play off game. Just put the round thing in the box!

Still has done some major long term damage. Barely any budget for Currie to play with in the summer after his crazy 2 year deal spree.

None of the players in that list are new. Still went 2 year deal crazy last summer. The delay in the release of the list was in the hope that we could retain our better players and pay off the poor ones. Looks like we mostly succeeded with the former but failed with the latter. Very tight budget for Currie now this summer.

That's not a retained list, it's a suicide note.

Far too many players that have failed to prove themselves.

Yeah, that's what I mean - after all those players released and you're still on 26 (potentially 28) before even signing anyone, that's ludicrous. We've always got by on a squad of 18-23 players, maybe with a few loanees too. And our wage bill is high, so yours must be gargantuan!

We had a top half budget in L2 in 17/18, and with the chairman desperate to get us back up he signed up Still, gave him free rein over transfers and our parachute payment. It has proved to be disastrous.

Some of those contract decisions are unreal - Dan Sparkes and Mo Bettamer (both NL South players at best) on two year pro deals - they must be in disbelief at those paydays.

The most crazy one is Loic Hernandez - an academy graduate who was FIFTH choice left back last season - behind even a current academy player two years younger than him - yet signed on a two year pro contract!

Fuming at John Still. He’s entirely screwed us over for the entire parachute payment period with some of the worst signings seen at an apparent promotion aiming side.

Another season of the same shit then until we lose virtually all of the above and have to start fresh in 2020/21.

Labour had their 1983 manifesto, Barnet have their 2019 retained list.

Honestly it seemed so obvious to me last summer that he was overdoing it - we already had a large squad then but it was just one mundane signing after another - not a single one that made us excited.

This is the most pessimistic I've felt going into a season - Currie was openly contemptuous of much of this squad in his interviews in the second half of the season, and made it clear that major surgery was needed. As well as being shite for us as supporters, I feel so sorry for him needing to wait a further 12 months (if he gets there) to just do something as simple as build a squad.

How many are transfer listed, or considered available for transfer? Would anyone even want any of them?

That's a ridiculous sized squad for this level. Especially for a club who get crowds barely into 4 figures...

I'm assuming you wont be signing anyone until others move on?

None are publicly transfer listed, though I would be surprised if we are not at least making contact with NL South clubs or the likes of Woking for them.

IMO Cousins, Alexander, Robson, Reynolds, Adams, Sparkes and Bettamer (all Still signings) should all be offloaded, but we weren't able to pay any of them off (I have heard that we tried) and I doubt NL South clubs (bar Billericay) can afford to take them, except on loan.

Some are fine for bottom half teams at this level, but chances are they can't afford them either. We have a mid-table squad on a top 3 budget, which will be a mid table budget once they are out of contract.

Tarpey has already left and he was the highest paid player in the squad (I think), so there will be some of the budget free unless the chairman wants to cut the wage bill, but otherwise Currie has his hands tied.

To be fair, 5 of the retained are youth players who have been offered pro terms but have very few (if any) pro appearances. They’ll be on very little per week and I have little problem with them being there.

Another 5 of them had very long term injuries and came back at the end of last season or are still recovering now over the summer - some of these are very decent players and will definitely improve us on their return.

However there’s another 5 (seems to be the magic number) that John Still signed that are just absolute dead wood and I can only presume we are trying hard to shift out, but our hands are tied as they would be on decent money. JS really has screwed us over - I reckon without those 5 on the books it’s atleast £4.5k p/w freed up. Which is huge at this level. We’ll be trying to shift them out on loan but the power is definitely in their hands for the next year.

Fuck you John Still.

If Still had any faith in his own signings he'd surely have taken at least a couple of them with him to Maidstone. The fact that he hasn't speaks volumes.

I'm still convinced that some of the Dagenham signings were more about doing his old club a favour and keeping them out of administration than they were about improving our team. All of the players we signed from Dagenham were contracted there.
