It was always going to be a two year project to sort out our bloated squad. It wasn't all John Still but for whatever reason, his signings on the whole were extremely disappointing.

However, let's see who comes and goes between now and August. We will definitely be in the market for players but I would hope it's "one in, one out" to limit our excessive wage bill.

The return of Santos and Vilhete will make a big difference and keeping a settled squad can have significant advantages. And let's not forget, until we imploded at Maidstone, it looked as though we might finish reasonably close to the bottom play off spots in spite of a pretty disastrous league campaign.

Confidence is vital at this level and in my view, if we got off to a reasonable start, it wouldn't take a huge improvement to see us properly challenging for top 7.

Liam Noble signs new deal at Pools :woo:

Has he reduced in character over the last couple of years? I remember him being a right bellend when he played for Forest Green but seemed quite reserved in our games against Pools.

I've not seen owt unduly dirty or snide from his first season at Pools, he's just a wind up merchant and opposition players and fans get suckered in every time by him.

If Still had any faith in his own signings he'd surely have taken at least a couple of them with him to Maidstone. The fact that he hasn't speaks volumes.

I'm still convinced that some of the Dagenham signings were more about doing his old club a favour and keeping them out of administration than they were about improving our team. All of the players we signed from Dagenham were contracted there.

Nothing to do with that at all, it’s because he is now a dinosaur at this level and thought some of the players he signed were decent yet only got us to mid table the season before.

Let’s not forget the moment it went wrong with us he jumped ship like a dirty rat as he knew he was not getting paid his £100k a year salary.

Would you (or anyone else, for that matter), stay in a job out of blind loyalty when your salary is either not being paid at all, or you are faced with a substantial pay decrease? What a ludicrous comment.

Our physio has announced he's leaving the club this morning. This means we have zero coaching/management staff. Shambles.

Seems like a ludicrous comment his salary was paid on time throughout our tough times, the last time with fans input, not once did he ask to defer it despite being a millionaire. When you’ve listened to years of this bollocks about it being his club his dead dads club and being his last job the moment the money run dry he junmled ship. On top of all that he was paid a huge wage of £100k a year for 10+ years, plus percentages of transfer fees from players he unearthed (Dwight Gayle got him a huge sun) which afforded him a very good lifestyle. Never wanted him back the second time around, dinosaur of the highest order. Thought he retired but loves a pound note too much, Maidstone will be paying him about the same otherwise he wouldn’t do it. Poor bastards.

Bugiel always seems to score goals, so I’m surprised you’ve let him go.

Indeed. I remember him scoring a penalty against us though, so maybe that helps his goal tally. But definitely thought he was a key player in the midfield.

Not sure where he’s scored them but they weren’t at Bromley. He’s had a very very poor season, struggled with injuries and looks a player on the slide. Wish him all the best but feel he’ll find himself in the National South before too long.

Linganzi was very decent a few years ago, is he past it now?

Mafuta got a red against us, but seemed like the hard-working midfielder we could do with. Might be keen to stay in the Manchester area and sign on with us.

Always rated Mafuta. He looked quality at Gateshead, so not surprised to see him be a big part of their promotion. Although someone just pointed out on our forum that he only scored 1 goal last season, so definitely not good enough to play defensive midfield..

So he should work for free because of his financial standing?

I have no time for John Still but this feeling that in football, players and managers should show complete loyalty regardless of the wider circumstances affecting the club is completely unrealistic in my view.

It was more than that though, guess it’s just hard to get across some of the rotten lies he told everyone the night of his departure, despite us all knowing him very well for many years. No one was asking him to do it for free, just a little deferal until things evened themselves out. Looking at where he is and where we’re at now does make me laugh.

Your fans seem very happy with this. I don’t think I’ve seen so many negative comments on a twitter announcement, and I support Wrexham.
