When somebody told me Rooney was going to Guiseley, I thought they were taking the piss.

He was bang average with Mills in charge, improved under Keates, and since Penn joined the midfield, he's been great. Would he remain great for the rest of the season? Who knows. I'm not that arsed about him leaving, apart from him being one of those players with matchwinning tools in his locker, like Dom Vose was.

Do we need a part-time matchwinner/part-time passenger attacking midfielder, or a 40-decent-games-a-season attacking midfielder? As our budget is strictly limited to the money we actually have, I'd probably go with the latter.

Either way, I trust Dean Keates' judgement on this one. Seeya John.

His move to Tranmere was one of the most pointless transfers ever.

It always felt like recruiting Almond was a panic buy from Brabin, who was sacked at the same time. Mellon has given him little game time and clearly doesn't rate him.
BUT we've just lost Tollit for the rest of the season and Dunn for 6 weeks. It seems odd in those circumstances to ship out someone like Almond who can play out wide. Especially when the manager is talking of playing Mangan on the wing.
