We've just signed Courtney Richards, any opinions Torkee fans?

Lol. Runs around a lot. Keep him away from the ball and he might do alright. Despite being captain, I really didn't see much of a leader there.

More disappointed that Josh Rees has gone to Bromley - he was a cracking little midfielder.

Also fully expecting Zebroski to score against us, because it's the rules, isn't it...

We've signed Joe Ward on a Chester FC inspired TWO-YEAR deal.
Should be a good signing for you, that.

We didn't see a massive amount of him here because he was part of the Lincoln City B team that entered the FA Trophy but those that saw him were impressed. Lots of pace, can beat a man, didn't mind coming centrally to get involved and seemed to be a winger who wanted to get into goal-scoring positions when the ball was on the opposite flank rather than those annoying ones that never seem to be anywhere near the back post.

Will definitely be a player I'll be keeping tabs on next season because he seemed to have something, just probably not at FL level. I'd not have been too surprised if we had made a move for him as back-up if we were still down here.

"Insert - well Askey has a track record of turning these players good"

He actually just sounds shit.

Any chance you can take Luke Summerfield permanently? Would free up a space in our squad and he did alright for you didn't he?

Former Tranmere midfielder Steve Jennings has signed for Southport.
Jennings looked past it last season, but could probably do a decent job at that level. The move is a bit surprising as most people thought he was still in talks with us.

A very good player in our League One days, who was harshly treated by some of our supporters.

Reviews aren't good but I'll give him 15/20 games before making any judgement myself.

I remember when Turnbull, Halls, Moke, Rowe, Holroyd, MBH, Dennis etc. were all shit or not deemed good enough by their previous teams' fans. They all turned out alright.

Surprised that Richards ended up with Macclesfield. Not that disappointed though, he's been here for three seasons and had that feeling of someone who would be around for ages, just doing enough to get a new deal but never enough to get a better offer. He's taken a pretty sideways step but closer to home and the money will be better than we were offering.

Managers have liked him, and he seems to have a great attitude. Football wise he is appalling though, which does divide fans to say the least. Not even just poor, he really struggles with a ball at his feet.

Maynard to Salford was strange, this is just bizarre.
As said above, he got a lot of stick from our fans in recent years but on his day is far too good for NLN. Southport may have signed a gem there. He's not flashy and he'll probably get a lot of people asking 'what does he do?', then when he's missing you notice how much of the dirty work he actually does.

Anywhere I can put a bet on Steve Jennings being given a run as manager at some point next season?

I'd agree that Steve Jennings could have done better than moving to a Southport side in some turmoil and who might face a fight to stay in NL North. Rovers were in talks with him, but he wouldn't have been a guaranteed starter and the prospect of doing his coaching badges may have made up his mind for him. Mixed views about Jennings' last spell at Rovers, but I hope he's over the knee injury and it works out for him.

Yeah - I try to be as honest as I can on our players and CR is just so...plain. There isn't a feature in there that I think we will miss, which, considering we've been surviving by the skin of our teeth for two years, isn't so good.

Saying all of this, he'll probably go on to become the greatest midfielder in the Conference and you'll sell him for £1m or something daft. That happens a lot too.

EDIT: I'd take Luke Summerfield here. Wonder if Nicho is interested.

Can't see any confirmation on here of Macc's signing of our former Port Vale loanee Ryan Lloyd. We offered him a contract when he was released, but he asked if he could see if a L2 club might come in for him. Well liked by Chester fans, but along with all but 3 or 4 players was shit after Christmas. Can see him being a good fit at Macc.

Jack Payne will join us from Blackpool when his contract runs out. Orient fans don't seem to rate him too much, but I know he was excellent at Gillingham and features 40+ times last season. He is also a Gravesend boy. Well chuffed with that.

Superb signing for your lot.
Would have liked him back at Gills

Dan Jones from Grimsby. We tried to get him in January - no idea if he did the job for Gateshead or Fylde, but will be useful cover.

I was disappointed we released him last year. Will stick his head on anything, and doesn't shy out of a tackle. His range of passing can either be akin to Xavi or Ryan Brobbel, depends what mood he is in I guess.

Would like to know how he got on at Gateshead and Fylde - didn't realise he'd been loaned out there to be honest, but think he is more than capable at this level.

Just whatever you do, don't play him left back.

I think the plan is for him to partner Moussa Diarra at the back (another who gets his head on anything), or play left of a back three - we played 5-3-2 for the last handful of games of the season. I guess it depends on whether we can keep hold of our left-back Anderton.

Jack Payne to Fleet is up there with the signings of the summer. Not that long ago he was one of the best players in a Championship side!

We played him at both left wing back and left centre half in a back three. He didn't do anything wrong, but also didn't stand out and was subsequently sent back.

Yep, I'm delighted with it. Takes us up to 17 now with Kedwell also re-signing for his fourth season with us. I'd expect 3 more signings. Striker (Aaron McLean probably), a winger/attacking midfielder, and a full back.
