Finally we put our Stourbridge hoodoo to rest with a late goal from Jordan Murphy securing a 1-0 win to set us up for a semi final away at Evesham on Thursday night. I get the feeling we're not taking it too seriously this year, with more trialists than contracted players starting tonight and with the final on Saturday clashing with our friendly against Doncaster.

I am not sure if it's technically 15/16 or 16/17 but AFCR&D won the Northants FA Maunsell Cup beating Peterborough on penalties. I say I'm not sure as to which season it is part of as we are in it due to winning the Hillier Senior Cup 15/16 and the final for that was late so this might have been played at the end of last season.

Game was 2-2 with Peterborough taking the lead first, Diamonds going 2-1 up and then going straight to pens after the equaliser and FT whistle. We dispatched all ours and they didn't.

Very much treated as a preseason friendly which is the best attitude for these things IMO, nice to win something after terrible ground news this morning.

We won the Cheshire Senior Cup last season beating Tranmere in the final.

Seemed to galvanise the squad so certainly worth competing in.

We beat Evesham 3-0 last night to go through to the final against Redditch on Saturday. Academy player George Taylor got the first goal after Trialist Jordan Murphy ran past a few players and cut the ball back to Taylor, Murphy then put us 2-0 up after a defender missed the ball and Murphy ran onto it and put the ball into the bottom corner. After half time Murphy then put us 3-0. Then Jono Brown saved a penalty and the rebound to keep it 3-0.

It doesn't seem we're taking the competition too seriously as we are just playing academy players and trialists but if they win the cup shows that we have a good future with these players.

Kingstonian will be entering the Surrey Senior Cup as usual. Not sure if we ever plan on going back in to the London Senior Cup though.

I disagree that these cups should be pre season though. I guess it differs from county to county but the Surrey edition is still meaningful to the fans (most clubs do treat it as an exercise for the fringe players & youths up until the later rounds). I suppose it also depends on the make up of the competition in terms of what level the clubs come from. A good 70% of the Surrey Senior Cup participants come from the Combined Counties League, so those clubs have a decent chance of coming up against your upper non league sides like your Wokings or Kingstonians (yes or your Suttons I suppose) of the world.

There we have it. Kidderminster Harriers have won the 2016 Worcestershire Senior Cup, beating Redditch United on penalties. Thought that what was predominantly our youth team played well, mostly dominated the game, had two goals disallowed and triallist Jono Brown saved two penalties in the shootout. Especially pleasing against a team that was at the top end of the Southern Premier League last season. This hopefully shows some of our youth players may be able to make an impact for us at some stage this season.

After returning from holiday I went to both Evesham and Redditch to cure the football fix so not had the chance to see any of our new senior players.

I'm sure the club will be working out something with Murphy as he does have something to offer and I hope we offer Jono Brown a new deal, he has really impressed me in the two games and think he could challenge Hornby for the number 1 spot. He has been tested to some degree in both games and has coped with everything which has been chucked at him.

Number 7 trialist looked handy yesterday, as has Forsyth and Hancocks who I suspect will have some part to play during this season. Future is looking bright.

Number 7 trialist is former Cheltenham player Omari Sterling-James apparently

We played our first round game last night at home to Sheppey United. Didn't go, but a fairly entertaining game by all accounts. 10 of our 16 were academy players while the rest were made up of fringe players and club management, with both Daryl McMahon and Stacy Long starting.

266 crowd with around 80 odd from Sheppey, which is more than most teams bring here in the league!

Ramsgate away next up. Doubt I'll be going to that one either. Only been there the once, a 7-0 win in a pre season game with then trialist Jai Reason bossing the show. Was hoping we'd sign him after that!

Apparently we've got Herne Bay away next month, not heard anything about it. Wasn't even aware the KSC was happening.

Could do without it, stupid pointless competition. Remember beating Margate 8-0 a few years ago, was bored stiff watching Bakare get the easiest hat trick of his life in front of 250 fans.

Think that was the season we lost the final to Ebbsfleet just days before we beat them in the play off final

Don't remind me! The KSC means that much, Daryl McMahon actually gave his winners medal away! Not a bad day out that mind.

Our teams in this are mainly youths anyway, so not too fussed. Apart from the final, nobody shows up, although the crowd the other night was quite respectable considering.

Barrow's squad was made up of 6 1st team squad players, 1 loanee and 9 under 18's, Bury played their youth team + 2 1st teamers.
Hannah warmed up for the Tranmere match with a hat-trick and Akil Wright (loanee) got the other.
Hannah and Howarth also hit the woodwork.
crowd was 331.

that's Harrison (6) Bennet (6) and Hannah (5) goals now... nice to have options for the weekend :)

Considered stopping up for this one but made the mistake of being drawn by the England (U21) Glamour. Enjoyed a great match at Walsall (for £1) but spent an hour getting out of the £4 a pop car park. As a result, missed the FA Vase replay at Histon. Evening is getting better.

We beat Cheltenham 4-3 last month, with Fabien Robert getting a hat trick. Bristol City away next.

Our kids (and I mean kids, think they were all 17 or below) beat Hythe Town 3-2 last night to give us a mouthwatering tie against VCD Athletic.

We play Stockport Town away who ever they are. Got a feeling they are Woodley Sports ?????

I believe Stockport Town are an entirely new club set up a couole of years ago, although the senior team don't actually compete in any league. Woodley Sports became Stockport Sports not long ago too. I think they both play at the same ground however.

Like any sane supporter I don't really care how we do in the Cheshire Senior Cup. However last year's final was quite a fun day out and a decent game to which we took 500+ iirc. At least it was something mildly interesting at the end of the season when we had had nothing to play for for a couple of months.

Cheshire Senior Cup night tonight. We go to Winsford having signed 11 new players this week especially for this match. I guess we can work out our priorities this season.

Eventually won 4-3 at Winsford after extra time. Sam Madeley scored a hat trick. Other than that, awful game.

We beat Stockport Town 6-0 in the Cheshire cup. We were forced into playing a pretty strong side with the youth team playing in the youth cup the same night.

We've now been thrown out of the Cheshire Cup after 1 of our 11 new players last week wasn't eligible to play in the competition. Obviously all part of our master plan to get ourselves out of these needless cup competitions.
