Played Newport, don't think they deserved to win the game but when you've got eight men in the box late on youll get that lucky bounce sometimes. Lovely scenes here tbf.

Gutted for Hartlepool to be honest, they at least play on a pitch with grass on it. Jeff Stelling must be absolutely gutted but he's still carrying on and congratulating Newport. Just a shame the refs are appalling. The softest of pens given (by the same ref who also for no reason disallowed a Notts equaliser against Donny) and we still can't defend well did it. Sorry Hartlepool

Blatant penalty for us not given too. We turned up and gave it our all though.

Unlucky Hartlepool fans, I know some of us on here had some choice words in pre-season but I wouldn't have wished that on you. Absolutely cruel game. We know what you're going through. Take solice in the fact that when we went down we had a terrible squad, but at least you're going down with a quality Conference striker in Amond.

Today is a day i wish i'd had sky sports i am guessing soccer sat was interesting to watch today, seen the clips, tough for stelling to have to do a job, yet be totally bias, then end up totally unbias.

Congrats to Portsmouth on the title, definitely the best side I have seen us play this season I think. Also thought Hartlepool were the worst side I've seen us play this season so all worked out how I saw it in the end I guess! Commiserations to them though real tough way to go.

As for us, it's taken us to the very end but the mythical "winning run" that everyone has been banging on about has finally materialised as we win 3 on the spin. Bar a stupid penalty we were totally in control of the game, great to see the Jack Marriott we all know finally coming back as well, 2 good moves finished by him.

Bit worried about James Justin though, looked a nasty injury.

Gutted.

From being sky high at 2-1 up to hearing Newport got their winner 2 mins later, total deflation all round.

Deserved to go down over the course of the season, today aside we just haven't been good enough, congratulations to Newport on a fantastic run of form to keep yourselves up, you deserve it.

Gutted about that. All the scores were filtering through and it was all positive, got to the point where everyone else needed to score twice to stop us. Was still desperate for a second goal in case we slipped up, and it came at the same time as Carlisle scored twice... about one minute of pure joy and brilliant scenes until it just completely died when it broke through that Carlisle were no longer losing but actually winning.

The fact that we were even still in with a shout after the season we've had and the insane injury list is pretty incredible in itself though, and we really must be pushing for the top three next season. That has to be the aim - I'm sure we would have done already if we'd kept a few more of our key players fit.

Damn, well done Portsmouth. I suppose this kind of makes up for taking your spot in the playoff final last year and then not even bothering to show up.

If I were told at the start of the season that we'd finish 2nd, only losing the title on goal difference, I'd have been amazed... all things considered, while the title would have been great, I will take this.

Aye, Newport deserve it but I am so proud of how they played today, we couldn't have done any more than that.

Gutted but it was the Barnet game that did it for me. I was out in Durham that night, I was 50/50 about going out after that shambles, but a couple of pints later and had to hide in the toilets in the pub to cry my eyes out. I knew that was it, then. Unfortunately, my plan to hide backfired, I got sussed and made someone else cry in the process.

Anyway, have we unearthed a Conference star in the making? Devante Rodney was quality. I think we've got the basis of an excellent team at that level, which is why our field problems are such a travesty.

I feel you proved me right when I said I'd been saying all season Colchester were promotion contenders. Just didn't bank on us nicking your spot.

Well we were never not going to win that one - we played well. That result doesn't flatter us at all; we completely dominated Morecambe who were all pretty much on the beach.

Great to see Jack Marriott score two off the bench too.

Wow. I don't know what to say other than 1. that was up there with my best ever experiences as a Pompey fan, 2. I feel terrible for Hartlepool (but congrats on your great escape Newport), and 3. I'm now going to get royally hammered.

I wish I could say I'll miss League 2, but I really won't. Best of luck to yas all for next season.

Must be so comforting for league 2 teams to have to play on that fucking sand pit again next season in South Wales.

Here is how many days each team has spent in each position this season, nicely timed Pompey!

Well there was me thinking that Donny were the best team in this division? Or so all their fans were bleating anyway. Sad to see Hartlepool go down, in one of the worst possible order of events too.

Barnet continued our trend of being fucking awful.

Nathan Thomas will rip it up in the conference, hard luck pools.

With Tranmere and Lincoln coming up theres not really any good teams left down there. Just stop FGR coming up!
