A month until the season starts and the clubs future is still uncertain. Even the administrators didn’t want to touch us, so if we don’t find a buyer in 30 days the club is wound up.

Even if we do survive, we have no contracted players, and the outcome of the court case would be 3 days before the season is due to start.

We will be playing youth players all season if by some miracle we even make it to the first game of the season. Hardly any season tickets sold either as you can imagine.

:(

Makes me not hate Kassam as much now knowing there are others out there worse off than us.

Some right wankers in the game though.

Bury have today been evicted from Carrington (owned by MCFC).

Blackburn also cancelled their friendly with us last week.

So you can now add training ground to things we no longer have along with players, staff, pre-season fixtures and manager.
You missed hope from the list

You mean no one will pay for admin? Hence the reason for the CVA on July 9th?

But yes we are fucked, probably the right punishment for our constant mismanagement over the past 23/24 seasons ive been watching us.

Question from an uninformed idiot like me: How on earth did you get promoted last season?

By doing what we’ve done for years, by having players on our books that we can’t realistically afford, you can get away with it for a while if you’re sneaky... but we just made it obvious with some of our high-profile signings... non of which were successful bar maybe Leon Clark, James Vaughan and Nicky Maynard.

All funded by pay day loans, a stupid high risk strategy that was never going to work. Our ex-owner Stewart Day has now fled the country amid his business collapse.

Steve Dale has taken over a failing business and thus far made no effort to save it, rather he’s just quickening our demise.

It’s all deserved, maybe not the fans, but the people running our club are crooks.

Anyway a good opportunity has opened up for other local clubs to take advantage of the Carrington training facility... I imagine MCFC will tidy it up a bit after the mess we left it in, and then look for a new tennant. Rochdale, Oldham or Stockport even could all benefit potentially, it wasn’t costing us much to use as City had no use for Carrington after the construction of the Etihad Campus.

Re Carrington - no thanks. I believe it's rent free, but costs £350,000 per year in maintenance. I suspect we'll stick with slowly improving the facilities at Rochdale Cricket and Lacrosse Club, and hiring in facilities from Salford University as needed.

Of the others, County don't have any money to spare, either - they will get some of the biggest crowds in the National League, but struggle against some of the bankrolled clubs there. Oldham's chairman appears to be a fantasist who wants to manage the team himself as some sort of halfway house for obscure foreign players rather than invest in facilities.

I suppose Salford could move there - if they put a couple of stands up they could play there, or move in with Salford Eggchasers. Gets them further away from Bury, anyway...

Such a shame that clubs can be royally fucked over like this, most of the time you can see a way through for them with an investor or fans pulling together. This particular situation doesn’t look like there is a solution apart from insolvency.

The FFP rules aren’t fit for purpose, they were literally drawn up to stop despicable owners running our clubs in the the ground, then walking off Scot free. It’s not on, we all need to be worried and we should all be calling on the FA to sort their fucking shit out.

When money floods in to football the conmen are never far behind. My heart hopes for the best but my head, sadly, predicts the worse.

It's a very sad situation, but looking at it from 6 miles away, it's all been oh so predictable, and even preventable.

Bury's Trust must shoulder a large portion of the blame for handing over a huge percentage of the shares to Stuart Day, enabling him to own the club and do as he wanted with it, racking up huge debts whilst the fans mainly lapped it up, telling everyone that there was a mystery backer funding it all, so it would be fine.

Following the initial takeover, very few people at Bury actually questioned anything, despite numerous warnings, and sadly, those who did raise their heads above the parapets were loudly and rudely shouted down by the overwhelming majority. These people also must take huge blame for the ruination of their own club...an own goal of enormous proportions.

It's been blindingly obvious to all but the most naive that this would come tumbling down, and many local businesses will suffer as a result....something that really annoys and upsets me, as I know two such small businesses that are owed large amounts...enough to finish them and put a dozen or so hard working people out of work...not to mention all the loyal backroom staff at Bury who have been treated appallingly.

What does the future hold? Well, although the EFL are a toothless spineless organisation who pick their battles carefully, and who won't want to lose an old club from the league, I can only see a complete phoenix club coming out of the mess, starting at a much lower level and playing at a small local ground like Radcliffe or Ramsbottom.

Will people gloat? Of course there will be the usual pisstaking by supporters of local and national teams (especially those who have been denied a promotion place by Bury's overspending) but deep down there is an overwhelming feeling of sadness and a realisation that in the main, outside owners who promise the Earth are not generally to be trusted.

But for the grace of God; there go plenty of other clubs, including my own.

If Bury were to go down the phoenix route, they'd struggle to get above national league if there was no investment. Similar to Chester who rose pretty quickly, but stalled once they hit the hell that is the national league. With crowds of 3/4000 Bury would be no bigger than a few clubs in that division.

All very hypothetical of course.

It’s a very sad state of affairs. It happened to us in the late 90’s unfortunately most clubs and their fans took the piss instead of heeding the warning sign. I can’t see anything but Bury folding but I hope that it doesn’t happen

Without meaning to seem insensitive, what happens to the football league pyramid if Bury can't start the season?

L1 goes with 23 teams and it balances itself out next season with one less relegation, I think.

Yeah if any club goes under now, its too late to move teams to move teams around and change fixtures, so whoever has been relegated will remain relegated.

Well we have got a manager now. Paul Wilkinson, 6 games at Truro and won none of them.

We currently have 6 players who reported for training yesterday, where they trained I have no idea.

Anyone remember Doncaster in the 97/98 season. I think it could quite easily be worse than that if we make the start of the season.

Are Semi-professional teams permitted in the EFL? We haven’t even got enough money to pay the water bills, the club has been shut indefinitely since May.

Can’t see a way out. Might as well just fold, re-unite as a fan base and plan a club going forward ready for the 2020/21 season with an aim of sustainability.

As for the Dale fan blaming us fans for ‘not seeing warning signs’... we did... I’ve been moaning about Day for years. Don’t take the vocal minority of idiots to take the whole fan base. As for preventable? Well tell that to Coventry, Blackpool, Stockport, York, Chester, Hereford, Wimbledon, Leyton Orient, Chesterfield, Boston and Halifax fans as well.

It does work but it requires alot of work. Your fan base would have to be very motivated.

I can see issues regarding people pulling together in unison. Fans although passionate, aren’t always business minded enough to run things in a proper way.

I feel at AFCW the motivation to start a-fresh was quite easy to find given the injustice the supporters faced with the club being relocated.

I don’t trust Bury fans to communicate enough or share the same vision enough to make a successful go of it. Our supporters trust for instance is beyond useless, infact it’s been basically dormant for the last decade until they’ve seen an opportunity to gain more members in the last few months by finally acting as a voice for the supporters regarding recent issues.

They did not train as no insurance, now Dave Jones has appeared on the scene as a consultant, though for who is anybody's guess.

What would you do if the worst happened and no pheonix club was formed?

I’d support Ramsbottom United most likely, what you could class as my second team.

Would always support a Phoenix club though, and I’d be quite passionate about the need for sustainability. I don’t care if we never see the football league again, just give me a local side I can get behind that is ran by fans and represents it’s community.

IF we start again and grow the club in a sensible way, I see no reason we couldn’t be successful, as in self-sustaining... up to a point of course. It would require a LOT more transparency than we’ve had from our previous useless owners, much more cohension between the fans and board regarding the direction of the club. What we can’t have is a Northwich type scenario where two Phoenix clubs were created due to disagreements between factions of the fanbase. That would be a disaster.

I’d like us to remain at Gigg Lane but whether that is possible remains to be seen.

One possible advantage for us, is that fans of Bury don’t follow us for the success or glory, those types of fans are busy sat in the pub with their Man U and Man City shirts on. So whatever league were in I don’t think it would damage our hardcore too much.

I can see a few fans defecting to Salford though should we fold but I hope not.

The more clubs that go this way makes you think that in the whole the business model outside of the premier league is unsustainable.
After Bury it will be somebody else
Then someone after that

Whilst the football set up in England is unsustainable, in our case we haven’t even tried to hide the fact we’re spending beyond our means. So I still think the fault lies entirely with ourselves rather than the state of the game itself

The last time we bounced back we weren't tipped to be even up there but this time we are tipped to do well so it's how we handle the expectation.
I was more confident last time around tbh

Bring back the salary cap with increases on which division of club you're signed for.

Football has become obscene , the players & agents hold all the power these days & they know it , a couple of bad apples can upset the cart.

So back to 1961? We were still hanging people back then, too.

Not sure those two things are completely related, unless we were hanging them for breaking the salary cap?
