Shame two relatively big clubs got to the final to be honest, am sure the figures will be warped in some way. Mind you, the Final attendance will probably match the total attendance for all the other matches in the competition, so we've done okay. Hard to convince people to stay away from watching their team at Wembley.

EDIT: Particularly Cov, the Oxford lot I have less sympathy for. The Cov atmosphere will be strange, especially if they're relegated before the final.

Problem is they aren't actually coventry fans. It's just an extra 20k plus pretend football fans who never go.

So the 30,000 that were at the Gillingham game a couple of years ago, the 30,000 that were at the Crewe game a year before that aren't fans?

They may not go anymore, they have more reasons than any supporters, but they are still fans.

Fuck me anyone would think you had 30k every week. You got 2 30k crowds in how long? 20k is about your best average I've known, they are fans who go week in week out, or at least make a few games a season. fans aren't people who go to 1 big game a season they are just pretend fans tagging along to a big game. Plus you mention 30k so what are the other 10k who will go to Wembley are they true fans too.

When we sold out the Ricoh for the return game, the club admitted they could have sold 10,000 more. There are reasons people do not go and this is my whole point.

Take your lot for example. You get fantastic crowds, but there are some reasons that help that. You had a year in the Prem 10 years ago, you have flirted with promotion the last few years, you have had how many giant killings? Then you compare it to us, we have done fuck all in this century.

You could also look and Pompey and say that they have had problems but still get big crowds. There are again reasons for that, they've had time in the Premier League, won a trophy got to finals, been in Europe. They have managed to attract fans and keep fans going. The fact we managed to get 9000 last week is incredible in the scheme of things.

Of the 40,000 going, there may be a handful who haven't been before, but you will find a lot of them are like a few of my family members. Ex-season ticket holders 10 years ago who have barely been a game or two a season for the past few years. I would never criticise them for not wasting money on a dying football club.

You had 30 or 40 years in it won the FA cup and came down and averaged 16k. Moved to a new ground had 2 years of decent crowds then went back shire. I fully sympathise and discount the lot since SISU ruined you so that doesn't count. Good luck at wembley

So the famous CCFC against Oxford in the final. Should be a good game but I will not be attending.
I was going with my family, five in all, but no way I'm going to cheer on that incompetent twat Slade play hoofball on the hallowed turf and cheer on a team of cowards who have won just five games all season.
The owners, the manager and The players haven't shown any passion or fight all season so why should I, and I haven't been to one game in this cup, so haven't supported it in any way financially.

2 Questions

A) When did attract over 27K after that?

B) Apart from the Crewe game, when did you next get closest?

We didn't.
The biggest attendence since that was 19,000 in the league against Port Vale.

Before that we sold out against Chelsea and had a number of crowds pushing 30,000 against Leeds, Middlesbrough and so on. Since moving to the Ricoh it has been down hill. Unlike Leicester, Derby and Southampton who have moved to new grounds, we haven't had anything to attract the new fan that the grounds were built for.

The problems with the season we return was the fact people had moved on and found new things to do on Saturdays, some didn't and haven't returned at all because of SISU and the shocking football that year. Originally I was shocked and a little frustrated by the poor crowds following that sell out, but now I fully understand it.

Before I say this I must clarify that I do not mean this to come across as an attack on any particular football club, but...

In 2013 Coventry City was hauled out of our home town for the first time in our 130 year history. The overwhelming majority of CCFC fans boycotted Sixfields. Away fans didn't.

When we needed help from the "family of football fans" not many stood with us. Yes you all sympathised, but you all still went and supported your team at Sixfields. Supporting your team was more important to you than helping Coventry City. Completely natural as a football fan, and I hold no malice against anyone who entered Sixfields.

Now Sky Blues fans are being asked to boycott a trip to Wembley in order to protect the integrity of a Micky mouse cup that has only existed for 30 odd years.

Many of us fear our club will no longer exist in a few years time. You really expect us to boycott one final big day out with our beloved club?

So looks like a 75,000 attendance with hospitality and extras. Oxford about 30,000 according to their fans and Coventry 40,000.

I won't be going though by choice. Will be watching in a pub in London.

Approximately 21,500 sold after the 1st day of general sale. Some are waiting for the upper tier to be opened up which will happen over the weekend or on Monday.

Our owner and Chief Executive have both said we will vote against continuing the B team experiment in the Trophy (and if they were to try to join the pyramid). That said I won't be going as I don't trust Shaun Harvey at all after his track record at clubs, the B teams farce as well as changing one of the most recognisable brands in football, The Football League to the anonymous EFL.

The crowd that night was 27,306. Well below capacity due to safety restrictions and empty seats in the away end.

Tickets were reduced to £10 and heavily promoted to try to fill the stadium. Official home sell out of 26,811 with 495 away fans.

My point is that low or high admission prices can skew the stats
No doubt at £10 prices many there that night will have been the type that only turn up to one-off "big" matches. Are they really CC fans or generic fans that want to be part of big historical events?

It does demonstrate the impressive potential fanbase though but if CC don't turn things around then you could become another Plymouth Argyle. I.e. Hardcore support of 5K then have 30K+ home ticket demand when you draw Man Utd in the cup.

We have now sold very near 43,000 which I think will get close to 45 with a week still to go and the fact we have actually beat two teams in a row which will go to some fans heads I'm sure.
Oxford have sold just over 27,000 so unfortunately it will be close to the record for this tainted trophy final

70k could actually be more than all the other games in this competition put together

Harvey is an absolute fucking ballbag. We all know the majority will vote for this because of greed. That's all it is these days and the majority won't give a single fuck about what the fans think.

So much for some of our supporters saying the Football League won't make a big deal about the crowd at Wembley due to the earlier poor attendances. Well they were utterly wrong, Harvey had it front and centre in the interview.

All that article does is make Harvey look even more of a clown.

People really thought that? It's doubled the total attendance for the competition.

Sorry but all the fans going to this farce of a final have betrayed every other club in the lower league, you have given that muppet Harvey all he needed to prove he was right that the draw of a day out at Wembley means lower league fans will ignore all the shit that is thrown at them. I hope you enjoy stabbing the rest of us in the back cheers

The same would of happened with any club it's just gone about as bad as it could with coventry getting there who have sold 10-15k more than any other club would of sold and oxford who also have sold more than many other clubs would. We needed an all u23 final and that would of been the end of the competition.

And Bristol Rovers wouldn't have taken any fans there if they'd made it to Wembley?

Honestly think we would have taken around 60% of what we took last time, so around twenty thousand. The attendances for the competition were down around 65% and the forums were very active in the boycott. I wouldn't have gone, seriously believe this is the thin edge of the wedge and opens the door to 'second' teams eventually entering the lower leagues. It was pretty meaningless before the u23s, now it's completely pointless.

If you believe the clubs will vote in B teams on the basis that the final of this competition was well supported then you are a moron.

The only reason the attendance will be so high is due to the circumstances of Coventry and the fact they've been through absolute hell, so fans see this as a sort of 'deserved' opportunity to relish. Oxford have made the final for the second year in a row so probably want to right the wrongs of last seasons defeat to Barnsley and think they stand a decent chance of silverware.

If Harvey really wanted to see fans true perceptions of this farce of a competition, then hold the final at the Stadium of Light or somewhere similar, and then see what the attendance would be. Guarantee it wouldn't sell out whatsoever. It's down to the lure of Wembley, and that's it.

It's such a shit day out too although I suppose it's not if you win a big game I can't say I've had that pleasure. I wouldn't of gone to this had we been in it this year but everyone can do as they please. It's a shame we didn't get an u23 final like I said earlier as there might not of been 10k there.
