Usually root for Germany when they play you guys, but kind of gone off them after the Shane Long fiasco.

That's understandable, Saltire. I was very disappointed that we let Scotland down in this Ireland match. Although we were already qualified we shouldn't have lost that. I learned in another forum that this Shane Long Goal already qualfies for one of the greatest goals in Irelands football history /i
On the other hand it was Scotlands own fault that they didn't qualify. If you rely on others..

Well it wasn't the best performance we've ever mustered up but can't complain with the result, 3-0 flatters us somewhat but plenty of positives to take from the game. Scotland are absolutely shite though, can't see them getting anywhere near 2nd spot in the group. As for us a nice 10 points from 12 and 2 points clear at the top. Happy days.

I think Scotland were actually quite good first half, we faltered second half after spurning a good chance and our opponents scoring their second goal with their second shot on target.

I'm actually feeling more positive about Scottish football than I was prior to the result, and that is despite us deservedly losing. They was some fight there, especially after our Slovakia capitulation.

We won't quality, I didn't ever think it was particularly likely. If we are getting rid of Strachan then that will only work if we bring in a foreign coach. I don't trust the SFA to do this, however, look how badly they have bungled our youth performance director role.

I don't really agree with the criticisms of the squad, we are no worse than Ireland (in fact our recent record against them is P2 W1 D1) but they got an excellent result in Austria - why aren't we able to do so with comparable or better players? I think it's imperative the likes of Phillips is brought into the squad, even if Adam has surrendered his chance now.

Wales are beginning to falter now but, despite one or two really good players, the majority of squad is bang average and not as good as ours. HRK would have no chance getting into the Scotland squad. We need to ask how they are doing better with a pretty average manager in Chris Coleman.

Plenty to ponder, time for calm heads and reasonable assessment. But this is Scotland so I expect none of the sort, a knee jerk reaction and "ripping everything up and starting again". Because that is our reaction to every game we lose. And it seems to really work.

Also, I think Griffiths starting ahead of Martin was indicative of weakness on the part of Strachan. It wasn't the correct decision and he only did it to avoid fan backlash. That is a worrying sign, and the move didn't work at all. I'm always of the opinion fans and managers should be at loggerheads with regards to selection as most fans - especially the vocal ones - are idiots.
