Could we lose our 3rd place in the table and thus our 4th champions league spot
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_coefficient#Country_coefficient

I'd assume something crazy would have to happen to allow Italy to go above us this season, as you'd expect only Lazio of the Italian clubs to be left in Europe soon as Juve and Roma will be likely to head out of the CL (Juve could turn it around but I'm going to assume not)

While we will be left with City and either Liverpool/United and maybe Spurs

But next season we lose our 2011/12 record, which exceeds Italy by 3,900 as such

based on current performances
We are on 73.909
and Italy are on 70.272

Which when you exclude 2011/12

We will start with 58.659
Italy will start with 58.915

Again this assumes neither country scores any more points so realisicatlly both numbers will be higher than they are. But I wouldn't expect it to change too dramatically

So it is almost inevitable next season will be a straight fight out between the countries for the 3rd, 4th spot

I haven't seen many others discuss this and all the sky coverage defaults to talk about the race for top 4. It would be a huge shakeup for the league if this happens especially if next season we are represented by what would traditionally have been viewed as weaker squads in Leicester and Spurs

Leicester will fuck PL over in terms of coefficient, no doubt. But I expect other teams to do better. Spurs will be better than this season. So will City under Guardiola. Arsenal should be fine unless they meet Barca again. United will be much much better under Mourinho. West Ham tough one to call but if they can keep Payet and add another very good player or two, they will do decent. Of course, I am assuming these teams make CL and EL. Chelsea and Liverpool should do as well if they make it to Europe.

But I agree, it will be a close contest between Serie A and Premier league after 11/12 season is removed.

Both Juve and surprisingly Lazio went out so any rounds City and United/Liverpool will hopefully make a difference

Definitely. It's not like the coefficient is made up from the last 5 seasons and that all the teams that have failed miserably from the Premier league should be held accountable, no no, it'd all be down to Leicester.
And y'know what's to say Leicester can't make it out of the group? The same mentality that said we couldn't stay up, couldn't get top 4 and couldn't win the Premier league.

Contribution to England's coefficient this season:

21.0 ManCity
18.0 Chelsea
15.0 Arsenal
15.0 Liverpool
15.0 ManUtd
12.0 Spurs
3.5 West Ham
2.5 Southampton
0 Leicester

Lets see how many Leicester get next season. I will be happy if I am proved wrong.

Probably depends on where they are they are seeded - bottom 2 and they might be in a very tough group but as top or 2nd seeds they could be ok if the players and managers all stay whilst adding to the squad.

You'll be crap chimp. Real proper fucking garbage.

There are very few sides I'd prefer to draw with PSG in next season's group stage. Maybe Berlin but that may not happen. We'll meet up and get pissed while PSG tear Leicester a new one. It'll be fun.

Assuming we win the league we could only meet in the knockout stages. I'd be ok with that.

Any fucker we can beat!
Not really arsed about the top sides. We'll be playing them (or variations of them) in the Summer in that pre season tournament thing. I'd like to see how we fare against sides like Zenit, Benfica, Monaco.
Only 1 side I'd like to avoid though, and that's Atletico Madrid. We've only qualified for Europe 3 times in our history, and we've played them twice and lost both.

Interesting. I thought you'd want a glamour tie or two.

The Russians and Ukrainians are the ones you want to avoid. Fucks the players up travelling and then having to play league games soon after, especially if your squad's thin.

Not a given that Monaco will be there. They may finish 3rd which means play-off defeat.

Pretty much. Ribolovlev lost a lot of money with the divorce and the strategy is basically buy cheap and sell high. It worked last summer with Ferreira-Carrasco and will keep happening with the likes of Bernardo Silva and Lemar. Monaco in the CL is a waste of time of the French coefficient. Lyon have much healthier ambitions on the pitch at least.

What are your owner's plans after the Qatar World Cup? Is this a long term thing or just a massive PR exercise?

Bit like Roman and Chelsea. Maybe he'll get bored maybe not. My guess is no as he also bought all the other sports club around and wants to make Paris attractive again.

This thread's a gem for comments about Leicester. "Will harm our coefficient", "will be garbage in Europe". Anyone would think the other English clubs hadn't been a total embarrassment in Europe this season.
