This is the non league section.

Also it is against forum rules to promote your website. Therefore I have deleted the post.
Okay I didn't get that about the non-league, but I wasn't sure why was this thread here and not in the Cup competitions, but now I get that it is about non-league teams that play in the FA Cup.

Also I understand that self-promotion is against the rules, but it's not like I was spamming I just saw that there isn't anything about the draw and I put the link. It is no difference if I put a BBC link, cos it is the same news. :p

However, I apologize for the off-topic, but I guess that is not a reason for the other guys to be rude. Cheers.

Thank God that's over so we can go back to discussing Manchester United's draw against fierce local rivals Chelsea.

In all seriousness, a cracking game and long live the FA Cup.

What a night, what a game, what an atmosphere!
That was even better than the Gateshead match that won us the league in 2015.
I could watch Dan Sparkes’ free-kick on continual loop for eternity.

What a faboulus game of football. Well done Barnet and good luck in the replay. How on earth we beat you 4-0 just a week or so ago just shows what a great game and sometimes leveller football us.

You won because Cousins had a moment of madness after 2 minutes and our team didn’t have the right mentality to deal with that. We were indeed able to show something else tonight. Thanks!

There’s something very circular about selling a stand to Exeter to do them a favour and then one of their youth products coming along and diving to kick you in the teeth.

Anyway, wiki seems to have the right idea: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ollie_Watkins

I don’t even blame him for diving really. It’s embarassing for him but it’s a competitive sport and that’s unfortunately the culture these days. But that was directly in front of the lino, no players blocking the view. How he missed it god only knows.

As for ‘PL standard’ Andrew Madley... he had an absolute shocker of an evening.

Was at the game and enjoyed it immensely: a proper cup tie that could have easily gone either way with a massively impressive Barnet performance (particularly impressed with Sweeney, looks like an absolute rock in that defence).

As for the penalty, at the time I thought it was pretty stonewall from my angle (though I did think it was strange for the defender to be tackling there), but there's clearly no contact whatsoever when you see the replay. However, when you see the referee's angle you can kind of understand why he's given it, as from the front it does look like there's contact there.

Also, that free kick from Sparkes was great to watch in the ground, but it just gets better and better with each replay I watch.

Glad you enjoyed it.
The thing is that the ref should not be making a call like that from his position behind the players. How can he be sure beyond reasonable doubt that a foul has been committed? The assistant referee could see it clearly and did not flag at all.

Wow, just wow! What a night that was and Currie and the players can hold their heads high after a superb performance.

Brentford were of course desperately unlucky to hit the inside of the post three times but the penalty decision was a shocker and we played our part in a thoroughly entertaining and absorbing cup tie that will live long in the memory.

And of course for those 10 incredible minutes or so at the start of the second half we were rampant and dreaming of a first ever appearance in Round 5.

I wouldn't give us much chance at all in the replay but you never know. More heroics from the woodwork, desperate defending and quick counter attacks and we could end up with the glamour tie away at Swansea in Round 5... :bang:

Is that because of the time it takes because in theory it should cut out the clear and obvious mistakes made by officials which would be good .

VAR ruins the experience of attending a live game in my opinion.

I'd take conceding a shocking penalty, as we did yesterday, over every remotely contentious decision being reviewed whilst the crowd have no idea what's going on.

If it was instant, and someone watching a tv can direct the ref to make a decision, that might work. But what does "obvious" mean? And which decisions will be made by VAR?

The vast majority of controversial decisions are subjective. Was it a penalty? Was there contact? Was it offside?

It might help avoid decisions like the Brentford penalty last night but it would also risk ruining the game for the fans in the stadium. Stick to using technology for factual decisions - goal line tech is superb, for example.
