No surprise we lost at Salford, by far the better team until they scored from a slip from Kenny Clark, was solid until then. Second was space left with us chasing the game.

With Wilkinson going back to Gills we will now struggle to score goals unless we resign him or get someone else in. 5 wins to see us safe and some of the crap we are due to play at home will surely see us safe.

County 5-0 Truro, looked like we were heading for double figures after scoring four in the first half hour but we stopped taking our chances - we were still making them, but it looked to me like the forward line got over-confident thinking they could just take a pop at goal instead of working in better opportunities. (Particularly disappointing for me, I'm desperate to see us win 7-0 as cosmic justice for that Grimsby game, we're not going to get many better opportunities)

Got Harrogate away in the next round, a very tough ask indeed

Just to add, four for Warburton, including two very well-taken chances on his 'weaker' left foot. He's got to be the best part-time player in the country.

So then, after Solihull and Ramsbottom got through in their replays last night, the last 16 draw is:

Ramsbottom United vs AFC Fylde
Spennymoor Town vs AFC Telford United
Carshalton Ath vs Barnet
Chesterfield vs Brackley Town
Leyton Orient vs Blyth Spartans
Hemel Hempsted vs Solihull Moors
Salford City vs Maidstone United
Harrogate Town vs Stockport County

Potentially 7 of the last 8 will be National League sides. Ramsbottom have done damn well to get this far, but Fylde will be a step to far though.

An interesting tie for us against Blyth, if the game goes to a replay they will fnacy themselves against us.

Should be a great turn out for Ramsbottom United, a lovely little ground to visit next to the East Lancashire Railway line. The ground was under a deluge of water back in 2015.

Good luck Rammy!

Well after all the results and the draw, the quarter finals are:

Brackley Town vs Leyton Orient
Solihull vs AFC Telford
Stockport County vs Salford/Maidstone
Ramsbottom/Fylde vs Barnet/Carshalton

We got away with it slightly on Saturday when we beat Blyth 1-0. Made 8 Changes, but never looked like breaking a stubborn Blyth team down. Then we scored from a set play. Our bench was also very young with not alot of experience.

I would expect The Bracks to provide a much sterner test, what with them also being the holders as well. My initial thoughts are - This will go to a replay.

Will be interesting to see if they segregate this or not, we'll take 500-700 as its a new ground and only an hour by road.

With the forum being down on the weekend I haven’t had the chance to express my disappointment, nay my disgust, at Barnet for letting both Football and humanity itself down on Saturday. For shame. The only way to atone for your error is to lose your next league game to rest up for the replay and then thrash the bastards

I think you have to also look at the referee who awarded your despised rivals the softest of penalties to make it 3-3. I am confident that we will finish them off on Tuesday.

Home to Salford or Maidenstone/head/whatever

Hoping for Salford, they won't put out a first team, whereas County have put out our strongest XI each round

It was such a strange game. We must have had about 80% possession in the first half, 2-0 up and cruising, then we took our foot off the gas, made some daft subs and they brought on Ricky Korboa who absolutely destroyed us.

So the Final 8 are now confirmed:

Brackley Town vs Leyton Orient
Solihull Moors vs AFC Telford
Stockport County vs Maidstone
AFC Fylde vs Barnet

We face the potential prospect of facing Barnet or Fylde three times in the space of a week if we get through.

We will be favourites - But we will almost certainly deploy a fringe team at Brackley in a few weeks.

Glad Salford are out, didn't fancy any more media wanking over them.

Buildbase hoping its an Orient v Stockport final which would draw a 50k crowd.

Weird arrogance from Salford.

Best way to follow up a bad result is a bounce back not a weak team being thumped again. Surely for a growing club a Wembley trip is massive to boost profile

Is grumbling on their forum fans not happy at moment

Yeah, they must be furious with Pogba’s sending off.

3 Nat North teams left & 5 Nat League. Does this show the North stronger than Nat South - especially given Salford & Harrogate's performance this year?

Hope Leyton Orient puts out it's youth team ... although given their weak form at the moment may want to put out the full team. On our day we'll give anyone a tough game though...

Made the game all ticket - home fans to be outnumbered by the away?

IMO the North has generally been stronger than the South for some time. Bigger attendances, more money, fewer clubs which means talent is less spaced out.

For example I doubt Havant or Braintree would have been promoted from last season's North.

We may well just go for it now, IMO this cup has messed our form up a little bit because we’ve chopping and changing our team so much every other week.

Won’t be a youth team, but maybe our fringe players who’ve got plenty of experience will play.

Personally now, I think we need to build up some form so I’d play our strongest team with the exception of Jobi McAnuff who is 37.

Can only assume the police made the game all ticket - we should take around 600-800 fans as it’s a new ground and nobody is bothered if we win or lose.

With regards to the National leagues North & South, the North is miles and miles ahead of the south - no chance Havant or Braintree would’ve gone up last season had they been in the North.

Beebot pretty much summed up the reasons why the North is miles stronger.

Worst result possible was the draw. I’d have rather gone out. Really annoying that Maidstone wouldn’t agree to the extra time.

Imagine being drawn away at Fylde and agreeing to go to extra time and penalties?! I understand why we would have been tempted but what a terrible, terrible decision that has turned out to be.

From the sounds of it, we would have won had we been able to finish. Oh well.

Got to concentrate on staying up and ending this disaster of a league season ASAP so we can prepare for a huge clear out ahead of next season.

We got away with that a bit, we dominated the final 30mins but Brackley were very good value for their lead at half time and were playing a good tactical game. Awful defending from Sam Ling for us, truly awful, he was better second half but probably got the hairdryer at half time.

We badly failed to adapt to the bobbly pitch, too many of our players needed multiple touches of the ball and had stinkers. Eventually we brought on Matt Harrold and went more direct and it paid off.

Jordan Maguire-Drew nearly had the perfect impact as well, how he missed that chance at the end I'll never know, never a penalty though for me though - went down far, far too easily.

Brackley in the end ran out of steam, apart from their late surge at the end in the second half they offered little, but deserved more from their first half performance when on another day they'd have been 2-0 up - replay IMO would've been about right.

Decent little town Brackley as well.

Decent little town Brackley as well.

It really is a tidy little town and from what I can gather, they've sorted out any segregation issues after out visit there in the semis last season (for the most part our own doing).

I'm hilariously bitter but having been knocked out by Brackley in the last 16 and semi-finals in the previous two seasons before this year, I'm glad Orient knocked them out.

Not being bitter but why should a club like Fylde go to Wembley! They’ll take about 900.

AFC Fylde - AFC Telford what a tragic final that would be.
