Not sure about best side overall. Certainly best footballing side. Stuff we’ve been playing this year has been immense and it’s lovely seeing the opposition chasing shadows at times. Just wish we didn’t have so many defensive blips.

Don’t know why folk go so mad about other teams antics. Every team will try anything to gain any sort of advantage in a game.
More likely to get mad when the referee seems to be falling for it. It sounded like Crewe were time-wasting a bit during injury time, as you'd expect they would, I mean I'd be more surprised if they weren't, apparently a Crewe player about to take a free kick decided instead to ask the referee to confirm where he had to take it from which is as blatant as you get when you're a referee deciding whether it warrants extending injury time. It may not be sporting behaviour but you can't get too angry about it because you know your team would be doing the same if you were a goal up. The Carlisle fans on the radio, and in commentary though got more cross that the referee didn't wait more than a couple of seconds before the indicated 4 minutes of injury time to blow his whistle.

On their day maybe, but most of the top half could say that. We ran rings round Mansfield a few weeks back, although I do understand that beating the mighty Carlisle can give a team an inflated sense of quality.

FGR are one of the best footballing sides down here I have seen in terms of their play.

Happy to get the win over a difficult side.

The first goal was hilarious, was so so easy. Kirk holds it up and Miller, despite seeing Pickering coming, was still a yard behind him when the ball was played. Great cross by Pickering, easy finish for the suddenly lethal Porter.

Watching the sending off, what a brainless bit of play by Devitt. Wasn't even the ref who sent him off, it was the 4th official really, you can see the ref consult him before deciding. Idiot. Cracking finish by Carlisle's Miller, right into the bottom corner.

Lovely bit of play to set up Miller, he's such a composed finisher, doesn't score many scruffy ugly goals. Getting some varied contributions in this good run, which is excellent. 9 different scorers in the last 9 games, makes a big difference.

I can see why a few are getting optimistic. This was supposed to be our tough run, the run that decided whether we'd be in a relegation battle or not. In our last 12 games, we've played 9 top half sides and come away with a 6-2-4 record. Ironic that the 2 draws were against the teams in 22nd and 23rd.

Still got a very tough run over the next month or so. Oldham, Exeter, Northampton, Tranmere, Cambridge. Lots of difficult games to navigate through. If we can come through that lot within 6 ish points of the play-offs, we might have a chance.

Still think we'll have a dip somewhere and we'll settle into a 10th-15th spot, which would be an decent season. Just a shame we'll be sat here in May ruing those missed opportunities against so many teams away from home.

Staggered to see people complaining about the red card. I sit just in front of it and Devitt raked his studs down Perry's face. Not a stamp as such, but deliberate shithouse behavior. Pleased that the 4th official saw it, Devitt knew full well he was obscured from the ref's view.

Eh? You can't see his face being kicked or anything, you see one leg fly in but can't even see if it makes contact as the other people are in the way

Good job 3,000 saw it from the opposite angle.

So let me get this right... Crewe are better than Lincoln, Bury and Mansfield?
Yes, on our day. We beat Lincoln on Boxing Day and their manager said we were one of the better teams.

Astounded at the outrage from Carlisle fans. The main stand, 4th official and your manager all saw it. 4th official gave it and your manager didn’t seem to outraged when it was given did he? Blatant red, stupidity from Devitt. As for time wasting, we were seeing the game out, your lot were time wasting in the first half :whistle:

There’s a lovely bit of racism on the Carlisle forum aimed at Perry NG, the Englishmen from Liverpool.

Apparently the name NG isn’t English enough to be in our league? He’s got Carlisle on strings

The funniest thing about it all is how Carlisle obviously came with a really, really strange plan in those first 10 minutes to ruffle Ng (he’s a right back ffs), something I’ve not seen since Nick Powell was taking the piss out of everyone, and all that’s happened is they’ve got themselves in a tizzy whilst Ng sits there pure troll face.

We beat Bury and Drew at Lincoln but doesn't mean we are better than them... Hence they have many more points than you.

On our day anyone can beat anyway (see Yeovil who can't win for toffee winning at Mansfield who have rarely lost)

I'm not really bothered about the red card, stupid from Devitt really, but you absolutely can't tell from that footage he stamps on the face of Ng. It would've been hard enough to see from this side, and then 2 players get in the way of the incident.

Interesting comment from Pressley though: 'We asked Crewe for the footage they have from a different angle, but they sent us the same footage we’d already received from the EFL.'

I don't care what you Crewe fans think, but the fact is we are higher in the league than you and the table does not lie and we had actually beaten you twice already this season before last night.

Shit result for us but so what we learn and quickly move on to the next game.

Apparently the Carlisle manager didn’t see it? We’ll see how the appeal process goes.

I dare say your fans will all be over social media again like last season celebrating finishing a few places above the worst Vale sides in our 143 year history...

Some of them probably, however most Crewe fans aren’t that silly and know we’ve had the upper hand on you for about 15 years, before that though, you. Never used to beat you in the 15 years prior.

Really? Last year was the first season since 2012/13 that you had finished above us :S

That said I will give you the 00's when in fairness you had some fucking awesome sides.

I went to school with a lass with the surname Ng.

anyway surely if Devitt raked his studs down Ng's face, he'd leave some sort of a mark. Maybe he kicked him, maybe he didn't, maybe he was just trying to get the ball back and Ng made a meal of it. It's irrelevant now.

as for the timewasting. I already said you can't blame Crewe for it, everyone does it. It's just this ref seemed more than happy to let it slide without even adding anything to the clock.

Have to agree with Shoddycollins, it’s irrelevant now but....

Having been sat pretty much directly opposite the Devitt sending off incident and having a fairly unobstructed view it was a clear red card.
Just careless from the lad. I have little doubt he was attempting to recover the ball from under Ng, by stabbing his foot at the ball, which unfortunately for him was close to Ng head, I expect most footballers to react as Ng did.......roll around in agony or “play dead”. He was I suspect far from either but the careless act was done, Ng “played” him and Devitt should have known better. We’ve all seen this before and doubtless will again. The Mourinho incident at Chelsea comes to mind when he tried to recover the ball from a ball boy years ago. He was daft and let down his team.

I thought Crewe deserved the win even though they were pedestrian and wasteful in their play.... they did enough to deserve it in my view.
Always gonna be tough for Carlisle with 10 men though they had a go....My guess is Carlisle would have edged with 11.
Carlisle not as good with the ball as they were without. Good shape out of possession and they kept going. Gresty roads not an easy place to get a win at the moment.

No easy games, tough couple of weeks for Carlisle ahead.

Think we're still working out how to attack now that three of our key attacking players are gone. Shouldn't bother Pressley too much, as he never had them to begin with (well he had Sowerby for two games) but Wright, Murray and the players will no doubt have told him how we were playing during the six-game winning run and there's a lot of expectation on him to replicate that.

I've just seen we've released footage from the "other angle" looks pretty conclusive. Not sure how Pressley can say he didn't see it. He had the best view in the house.

We have different ideas of conclusive, I don't think it really shows anything more than the other angle, Devitt's foot is near Ng's head, contact is probably made, nobody knows whether it was an attempt to play the ball or a deliberate stamp.

It really doesn't matter now does it? Well it matters more to us because we're the ones being accused of being dirty and cowards by the opposing manager; but what's done is done now, don't get this determination by Crewe to present Devitt as a dirty player.

Isn't this the same Perry Ng who was given a retrospective 4 game ban last season for getting Jabo Ibehre sent off?

It doesn’t really matter anymore but I will be releasing my 10000 word analysis on why it was a sending off and why Devitt meant it in due course.
