Nominations are out:

Izzy Brown (Huddersfield) - 5 Goals/Assists
Jota (Brentford) - 7 Goals/Assists
Aiden McGeady (Preston) - 7 Goals/Assists
Kenneth Zohore (Cardiff) - 5 Goals/Assists

Really hard month to choose from, all been fantastic. McGeady tore us apart.

McGeady was disgustingly good in February.

Managers are;

Benitez - 4 wins, 3 draws
Wagner - 5 wins, 1 draw
Jokanovic - 4 wins, 1 draw, 1 defeat
Grayson - 3 wins, 2 draws.

So if it's based purely on points return then it'll be Wagner.

Newcastle drew 3 games last month, QPR, Bristol City and Norwich.
4 of our wins were against Brighton, Leeds, Reading and away at QPR so it should be a cakewalk for Wagner.
Player of the month is always a bit random by them unless there's a real standout performer statistically.

Think POTM is especially hard this month, and most of them would walk it any other month of the season.

From our side, Jota has completely turned our form around since he came back, considering he hadn't really played for 12 months before coming back in January, to already have 7+ goals since then, from midfield, is brilliant. He's the main reason our form hasn't dipped post-Hogan (it's actually gotten better). I definitely think he deserves the award, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone else got it, as they are all equally deserving really.

Aiden McGeady says he would swap any individual honours for a successful end to the season with Preston North End. The Everton loanee is the Championship’s player of the month for February after three goals and four assists helped the Lilywhites go through four weeks unbeaten.

Boss Simon Grayson missed out on the managerial award to Huddersfield’s David Wagner but McGeady’s performances could not be ignored as he hit top form. “It’s a great honour to be recognised for your form but personal accolades are just a bonus,” said the 31-year-old.

“The main thing is that the team has been doing well recently aside from the Fulham game. “It’s been a good season so far and the play-offs are within sight.” The Republic of Ireland international had only been on target once before the start of the month but scored score twice in the win over Brentford and also in the
victory over QPR, showing his penchant for the spectacular along the way. “I’m not a natural goalscorer but I like to chip in,” said McGeady. “When I was at Celtic and when I was in Russia I’d get my fair share of goals from midfield.

“The manager gives me the licence to express myself and as a creative player that’s all you can really ask for.” McGeady’s form means there is only one thing on the mind of PNE fans – whether he will be staying at the club beyond the end of his season-long loan. “The main obstacle is going to be Everton and what they say to me in the summer,” said former Celtic and
Spartak Moscow man. “I’m guessing they probably want me to leave but I don’t know if they’ll sell me or what. “I’d like to stay if everything can be sorted.

“The last couple of years I’d forgotten what it was like to be a footballer. “I’m enjoying training during the week and looking forward to Saturday. It’s bringing the best out of me.” An impressive February set up a big week for PNE, Grayson’s side bouncing back with a 1-1 draw at Derby on Tuesday night after losing 3-1 to Fulham. The third game in seven days against clubs hoping to make the top six comes at Deepdale this Saturday with fifth in the table Reading in town. “Nine points is a big gap to make up but it can swing and change very quickly with 10 games to go,” said McGeady with North End ninth in the Championship. “We go into the game wanting to win and doing everything we can to win but I wouldn’t say it’s ‘must-win’. “I don’t think we’re thinking that way.”

What a man, i'd sell half of our squad to get him back next season.

Considering he made his full debut for us at the start of the month, I'd be shocked if Barkhuizen didn't win this after banging in 5 goals.

Jota has 9 goals now in 13 appearances as a winger after not playing any football for 12 months, and numerous assists as well. Need to get this guy a new contract asap.

Swap for Dallas? Would love someone like Jota here. We can't quite sort out our wide players. Lots of them but nothing special. Pedraza looked good at times but he's only here for another couple of months.

Unless we go up then we buy for 10 million euros on his performances so far might not be a bad deal not quite sure he's prem quality yet though

He'll go to a PL team in the summer, he's got 12 months left on his contract but unless we can get him on a new deal we'll sell. Would hope for something around £10m, would want more but obviously you have to take less with less time on the deal

He's looked class from the highlights, especially against Reading the other week. Went right under the radar that signing when everyone was talking about Bogle

He's looked very good so far since coming into the team, he can finish and he's absolutely rapid. We signed him in the middle of November when Morecambe where in trouble financially and he looks like he might have repaid his fee already.

Thought it was in Jan, explains why that passed me by! How much did you pay for him?

He didn't officially sign until January but the deal was announced as done a few months before.

We paid whatever Morecambe's monthly wagebill is, so probably less than £100k. We signed him before the window so they could pay their bills.

Judging by Jim Bentley's comments they might have not got a sell-on clause either, or if they did, it's a small one.

Started off at shitpool where Lee Clark played him at right back

Imagine Barkhuizen's main competition will be Chris Wood who has bagged 4, although one was a penalty.

Don't know about assists but imagine they will be taken into consideration.

Somebody told me on saturday that we'd paid 50k for him, I don't know how true it is but it wasn't much.

Nominated along with Chris Wood, Aden Flint and Luke Freeman.

Surely got to win with 5 goals and an assist, especially considering the first game of the month was his full debut for us.
