I disagree Steven, I think our youthful team will want to prove a point, what about you?

I don't think it's quantifiable, really. I jokingly brought it up in the Wales match day thread and Jockney was right to mention that it is the English press directing the narrative as they are ones asking the questions - Bale is just playing his part in the whole thing. Hopefully when we face each other Wales show all the pride and passion and we score the goals, though!

Can show as much pride and passion as they want, if we keep Bale quiet, we keep Wales quiet.

The English fans at least are showing plenty of 'passion' in Marseille just now... :fish:

It's a little bit like a newly promoted side against an established top 6 Premier League side for want of a better analogy. Wales are over-excited just to be there, will raise their game and might get a few digs in, but ultimately England should have enough to see them off. Pride doesn't win a game.

Wales have that as well with Ramsey and Jesus Allen running things. Can see Wales beating England by a few I reckon.

What do you think to Bale, mate?

They could well beat us. I think it's our hardest game of the three and IMO a draw would not a be a bad result.

TBH, I would be surprised if we managed to beat Wales. It really doesn't matter who has the strongest squad on paper, they'll probably be well up for it, much more so than our over rated prima donnas.

So, we need to beat Russia and Slovakia to go through I reckon. And that's why I can't agree with those fans who're saying a draw tonight will also be a good result.

I hear that phrase a lot, but would you mind saying exactly who in the England squad are 'over rated prima donnas'? On the contrary, I find the English perception of the national side to be quite grounded these days, whereas the Welsh are the ones bigging up average players (No Robbie Savage, Dave Edwards really isn't that good).

I like this current England team, they are young and motivated and we'll match the Welsh's work rate and passion. Remember when we played Scotland? Yes Wales are better, but we matched the Scots for desire and won comfortably.

Wales press very high so if we can wear them down and match their attitude, I'm hopeful we'll win.

Wales side right now is a passionate bunch, probably more so than our side.

Some of the comments he made about Wales fans had me pissing myself though, go back a couple of years they were barely mustering 10k home fans for the World Cup Qualifiers.

That...and the off chance that his comments might entice one of the feistier members of the England team (Rooney, Wilshere, Alli) to lash out.

I think he's right about the passion thing. I don't think it's unreasonable to claim Wales, by the very fact it's their first ever appearance in the European finals, will show more passion as a team, although whether that equates to quality is a completely different matter. His comment that no England player would get into the Wales squad was purely said to get a reaction. He doesn't believe that to be true for a minute, and neither does anyone else.

If this were still 2010 Bale would have a point about England "bigging themselves up, while doing nothing".

The current side and manager are different. We don't approach games with a condescending air of arrogance like we used to. Which has fed through to the public and the media has followed suit.

This England team is a humble, yet good group of players. For the first time in a long time I feel the immeasurable pride that comes from watching the national team.

p.s. since 2014.

Mate, try being as bad as we've been for the last 58 years and see how many England fans turn up and watch.

I've been going to watch Wales for years, and even when we've been beyond crap, the Welsh support never jumps on the players backs, and support the team loudly and proudly, even when the team haven't deserved it.

Even when Slovakia equalised on Saturday the Welsh support was getting behind the team...

You're not genuinely telling me that your support is something special because you back the team when drawing, in your first tournament for 58 years. Deary me.

No, obviously I wasn't, but it seems as though you skimmed read a short post. Deary me indeed.

To put it into words so simple you may understand, despite the occasional/frequent crap crowds we've always backed our team, even when said team has been crap for 58 years.
