Renzi to lose the referendum and step down?

Austrian Freedom Party to become first far-right party in the EU?

Could be a pivotal day for the EU.

If Renzi steps down I'll throw a party, but I don't see the connection with the EU.

What's that supposed to mean? The FPÖ was in government with the ÖVP before (until 2002), they are already in the EUP.
Today they voted for the Austrian "Bundespräsident" not the government. Like our Bundespräsident he doesn't "govern" that's the job of the chancellor.

No. The leftist candidate won comfortably.

Thank god for that! The majority of our southern friends have common sense and don't want to be represented by a populist. Kudos, Austria

What's that supposed to mean? Being populist isn't the issue with the freedom party.

I know that being Populist isn't the main issue with the FPÖ and I mentioned it only because here in Germany we call the FPÖ a right wing populist party.

Anyway, it doesn't matter, (the populist) Hofer won't be representing Austria as Bundespräsident, that's a good sign.

Renzis gone.

Further instability for the Euro likely with Italy's raft of non-performing loans.

5 Star Movement or Northern League likely to make gains in the next election?

But anyway the Democratic Party will win also the next election, they are still supported by a good 40% of the voters.

tfw you can't figure out whether the phrase "the will of the people" only scares you because you disagree with the 'will' or whether it's scary in its own right

It's scary because democracy thrives on the ignorance of the masses. Look no further than the fuckwits who blamed the housing crisis and the NHS being on its arse on Johnny foreigner and voted accordingly in the referendum. Who will they be blaming when we still have a housing crisis and the NHS is still on its arse after we've left the EU? They haven't got the intellect to understand that successive governments refused to undertake proper social housing building projects or that the NHS has always been underfunded. Yeah, democracy, scary.

Hard to argue with the move to the right politically across Europe. My fiancee is Dutch and she never even got a vote on the Euro currency, confirmed by many of her friends regardless of their political persuasion. Her government claim they did, she says they just included it in with another vote which was totally unconnected. She never even knew about it. She got a welcome letter from the Dutch government which stated 'Thank You for voting to choose the Euro Currency'. She has absolutely no recollection of such a vote. Namely because it was in the small print and attached knowing most people don't read the small print.
Likewise. My fiancee's friend is scared to go out on her own since this 'illegal immigrant' open door policy has been allowed. I won't call them refugees when they clearly are not. There have been many rapes and assaults by 'immigrants' in her village since they arrived and the authorities cover them up.
Likewise again! The Dutch voted against the 'Ukraine Deal' last year in a referendum. The government totally ignored the vote and signed the deal anyway. With governments like that across Europe. No wonder people are voting right!

Labour should rename itself. It used to represent the workers and it was a noble party. Now they represent the benefits scroungers.

How so?

Because it suits the Right agenda to have someone to blame, they're winning the blame war on immigrants, now they need someone else to target, and the next easiest target is those who can't/won't work.

Put a bet on Le Pen last week. Think she'll comfortably get into the final round. How she fared in the final round, not so sure.

I remember in 2002 there seemed to be a real groundswell of support to ensure her father didn't win. Wonder if that will happen again?

Given that most of the electorate don't give a shit about people on benefit, (evidenced by apathy towards benefit cuts), why would Labour forsake workers for people on benefits?

Substitute the scapegoating of one vulnerable group with another? Why doesn't this surprise me?
