Fillon has been charged by the courts. While this is not entirely surprising, he did say that he'd step down if that happened. He refused to do so (honestly, I don't blame him; we're witnessing his lifetime aim which is to become President) and a lot of big guns of the party have resigned their posts.

Frankly, this election is fascinating. Fillon was destined to win after his success in the primaries but his wife fucked everything up, Hamon is unpopular because he's of the same party as Hollande (who hasn't done that bad all things considered (I certainly expected worse)), Macron won't get the vote of the old people because he's neither right nor left while Le Pen is a name associated with fascism.

Le Pen may make the 2nd round but she won't win the whole thing. We're not as stupid as the Brits and the Yanks.

When May wants to attract inward investment to Britain the post Brexit trading partners' terms and conditions for it will be more de-regulation of employment legislation. This is why the likes of Nike set up their sweatshops in the Pacific rim, because there is next to no employments laws to protect workers there. Long hours, shit pay, kids on the payroll and no fucking windows. Obviously it wouldn't get that bad here (well the longer hours and shit pay will), but the principle is the same. Businesses are competing in a market and if they can save money in countries with low wage economies unfettered by employment legislation that protects workers then that's where they'll set up. Consequently, a post Brexit Britain which de regulates employment legislation will be a lot more of an attractive proposition than one that before was regulated.
