Thought I'd get this started with our goals from today against Torquay. They're in the match thread too but they can go in here as well.

There will also be the BT highlights show tomorrow which should be on here by Monday.

Wow impressive, that's how you do it! I'll pass these clips onto Mark Cooper

Not quite the same quality as the two goals above, but here's Norwood's brace from yesterday.

Cook, Jennings, and Norwood linking up well for the first. Good signs.

Highlights of our seven goal thriller against Stockport yesterday -

Well worth a watch, just to laugh at the defending and to marvel at Dan Bradley stunning strike.

Two fantastic goals from Macclesfield there, that Alfreton game looked a cracker.

Who is Lincoln's keeper? He doesn't look very good at all. Big weapon with that long throw and Marriott took his goal well. Neither were penalties though, especially the 2nd one, he was outside the box.

Farman prob a little at fault for the Woking goal but he was exposed by poor defending from the corner. Don't see what else he did wrong, he made a couple of decent stops? Think the first was a penalty as the Woking defender definitely bundled him in the back, Margetts made enough of it though and agree on the second, contact started outside the box. The long throws came in from Habergham.

Marriott and Margetts with Rhead look very sharp, add on Muldoon and Arnold supplying and you have a potent goal threat. Still want Woody back as RB and get Raggett in alongside McCombe because we still look a bit like we will concede from set pieces.

Woodyard is one hell of a player, going to be mega important.

It was the corner I was talking about, it's never good to have a keeper flap (? Struggling to find words for what he did..) when crosses come in, it will cost you loads of goals.
The first penalty was a bit soft, Margetts just dragged his leg back, clever, although I don't like that.
Habergham has a great throw then, real weapon.

Some great goals by Macclesfield.

I'm not sure who looks fatter in those highlights, Rhead or Cook.

I somehow completely missed that! That's terrible from Cook, how can he start when he looks like that?!

Rhead has lost at least a stone in pre season too. 25 goals in 44 starts isn't too shabby as mostly everyone else we play against fan wise thinks he is shit.

Speaking of fat players

York fans, has Richard Brodie always been that overweight?? the sight of him waddling up to the ref was absolutely comical. For a full-time ''professional'' he looked a right state.

You should know by now that you don't need to be at peak fitness to be good in this league. Our best player is about 2 stone overweight and has every striker in his pocket each week.

to be fair to Cook if you look at him closely his backs not straight... so he always looks fatter than he actually is - Michael Johnson the old USA 400m runner was the same - the top half of his body is pushed forward a bit - but he still (I think) holds the world record... Cook does however start every season actually overweight - just not nearly as much as people think

Strange lack of urgency to close down the space from Torquay there. The last few touches are good, but the rest is just Torquay sitting off letting Macclesfield pick any pass they want.

Older conference fans will remember Colin "God" Cowpethwaite who played for Barrow - he wasn't exactly a stick insect - but got over 250 goals for us - you can't "muscle" defenders off the ball if you've got no weight to throw around ;)

have they changed the rules on throw ins this season?? - because every throw in by Alfreton in that video looks like a foul throw to me.....

The modern game is strongly focused on fitness though, it's a different game now. I can guarantee that if Tranmere lost yesterday, fans would have been pointing out that Cook was overweight.. ours definitely would have if he played for us.

We won though mate, and he played well, so we're all pretty happy.

I take your point but Johnson was barrel chested. Unless Cooks back is bent in at the lower part he's just got a big belly.

I suppose Cook being the player he is it shouldn't make any difference. He's just a big awkward sod wih an unerring ability to score goals.
