Love to see Douvan stepped up to 3m to take on Thistlecrack, that'd be a race worth seeing.

Just the 22 winners for Willie Mullins since the Christmas break at Leopardstown and Limerick, the bookies must hate the guy.

ITV off the mark with their coverage.

Caught a bit of it...not a fan of Matt Chapman making the step up from ATR. The on screen graphics need a bit of work as well.

Doing the Cheltenham festival for the 1st time on Tuesday the 14th. We play swindon away that night so straight there after, should be a cracking but long day out.

I'm hoping to watch a meeting at every racecourse before turning 50, so better get a move on with that one (although I'll have until at least 2021).

Re Kempton....heard on the news that the remains of that warrior Desert Orchid will have to be exhumed and re-buried.

They'll be fighting it.

I do understand the move if it goes ahead, but as someone who doesn't like to see sporting traditional trampled upon, I hope they fight and Kempton remains.

Shocking news coming out of Cheltenham that 2015 Grand National winner Many Clouds has collapsed and died following victory over Thistlecrack there today.

Very, very sad news indeed :(

Shame.

What a way to go though, straight after beating one of the best horses of this generation.

Just saw that it won and checked gold cup odds and it said non runner that will explain it. I'd hardly class a horse dying as very very sad news though.

Depends how you view the sport and the horses themselves I suppose.

I love horse racing and find myself getting attached to horses all the time. I hate seeing them die, sad for everyone connected to it and for the sport, especially when they're great horses like the likes of Vautour and Many Clouds recently.

If you're only interested from a betting perspective and trying to make money, it probably won't have much of an affect on you.

Faugheen and Min out of Cheltenham as well.

The way we're going Douvan will be the only big name left!

Vroom Vroom Mag has entries in 6 races, at this rate he'll try running her in all of them.

Yeah, not looking to be a classic festival at this point. Shame.

That was a rather close race in terms of the odds on the dogs, 3 3/1 co favourites and a 7/2.

Don't think there was anything in that race which will have worried team Tizzard for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Do any of you lot have favourite horses? Ones that you'd back blindly but aren't 'big' names?

Empire of Dirt and Opal Tiara are my two.

Can't say I have. The only two I backed fairly regularly were Denman over the jumps....God, that day he won the Gold cup & demolished the field is some memory.....and the other one on the flat was Hawkeyethenoo.....out of all the times I backed him I think I only had one fairly big win which was a big sprint race at Ascot.

Some guy's at work back a horse called Captain Scooby every time he runs, which is a lot, 20+ runs last year getting on towards 200 career races.
One of the guy's also backs every horse with Oscar in his name, which seems to be a hell of a lot.

I know someone that tries to do that with 'Droopy's in the greyhounds.

Isn't backing the same horse repeatedly the epitome of mug punting though?

Of course it is, unless your backing the likes of Douvan who has never lost but starts at odds-on every race so you'll never win much.
Looking at Captain Scooby as an example his record is 182 starts 18 wins 35 places. I'm not sure how long the guys at work have followed him but they're surely well out of pocket. Sometimes I think it's a case of thinking if they stop backing him he'll win loads and they'll miss out.
