It actually started when Marc Richards scored a last minute winner after sliding in on our keeper didnt it, since then its always been a bit feisty - The whole rock throwing thing is one of those myths where nobody really knows who was to blame, - I was at that game, and I saw the Vale lot throwing stuff as some woman got clobbered by a rock, six of one and all that.

It was, which was totally misunderstood...

The invasion was never aimed to taunt Shrewsbury or as a violent/provocative move, we had been relegated, lost 6 or 7 in a row including a horror show the week before at home to Notts County and the manager had just been sacked, Vale were at the lowest ebb and it was just pure relief and elation and a build up of weeks of horror.

After that it just kicked off every time we met. Used to make the atmosphere really good when we met mind but sadly spilled over outside. I enjoyed the rivalry as during our darkest days (which we may revisit soon) it was something to look forward to over having 30 Barnet or Morecambe fans in the Hamil End's vast 4500 seating area!

I understand the hatred aimed at us from the Shrews fan, but that's quite a rational hatred given the explanation.

I have a hatred for Arsenal. Their fans are so far removed from the passionate working class football fan that I grew up around. Everything irritates me about them. Their songs are s**t, and they seem to have tried to adopt the "we're by far the greatest team" song as their own. I know everyone sings it, but it's almost become their main song now.

Crystal Palace as well over the last few years. This group of black clothed Eastern European ultra wannabes with repetitive noises hummed to the beat of a drum. Big massive s**t flags (something Arsenal do too) and then people make out like they're creating a great atmosphere. Not for me thanks.

No, I know I get that - I think it stemed from the fact us Shrewsbury folk are quite a funny bunch, and took total umbridge with you Vale oiks :P1::P1::P1: having the sheer audacity to run onto our pitch. :ffs: - The stadium was new(er) then, and nobody had done such a thing, and with everyone else we hated disappearing, we kinda thought - Ah, sod it - they'll do!

Bizarrely, even with its locality, nobody give a shit about Crewe! (They do exist, dont they?)

You were our feeder club for a good decade or so so I'd be showing some respect if I were you! :bg:

Seriously though, Chester seem to sing about us a fair bit even though the last time we played them in the league I'd just been born so I couldn't give a shit about them! We have the age-old problem of our traditional rivals being truly dogshit and in non-league (Chester, Wrexham, Stockport, Tranmere to a lesser extent) and the fact the media have generated some form of rivalry between us and the two Potteries sides over the years.

Never had a rivalry with Shrewsbury (or the original Whosebury? we used to call the one Shrewsbury fan we had at school in the yard) purely because when one of us was in the second tier the other was struggling in the fourth and vice versa. Brings a good crowd out but I wouldn't even put Shrewsbury in the Top 6 of our rivals because there's genuinely no ill will towards them.

Just them Soccer AM type of clubs with fans who sit down at away games. Reading, Fulham, Bradford, Brighton etc.
Not sure what a Soccer AM club looks like, but if it's an insult can you call us by the correct name Bradford City. Bradford play in the Conference North.

Some must like our support etc, Valley Parade was voted 3rd best match day experience in the country, can you guess who came 92nd at the soulless arena or whatever it is called?

Some Coventry fans obsession with us since Pressley called us a Dark age football team is quite strange, to the point were they kept coming on our forum to post nonsense. For some reason it stopped this season.:dk:

To be fair that was a bollocks list. We came around the middle, whereas everyone knows we're the worst footballing away day in existence. Ever.

Apart from the Withdean, obviously.

Is that at 'The Hive'? Always sort of enjoyed Underhill (once you had managed to get there) but havent been to their new ground...

Underhill was a ground with character and it had the notorious slope. Only time I went there we had both our centre halves sent off after half an hour and only lost 2-0!

The Hive is just bland, not worth £25 entry and bar a shitty bar with watered down bev under the stands there's no decent places to drink, a really poor awayday if I'm honest.

Accrington just leaves a sour taste for me! First time we played there I went up on the train on a Tuesday night, stayed in a hotel costing me around £100 only for the game to be called off at 7PM... did the same for the re-arranged game a fortnight later and we got dicked 2-0... £200 for that!

Now I live down South I'm not complaining about Accrington. 2 pints for the price of 1!

That said I'd much prefer to go Stockport, Wrexham and Tranmere any day of the week, but it's not bad compared to some of the bland Southern aways like Crawley, Stevenage and Colchester.

Colchester is literally the epitome of new build ikea stadium... dull, nothing there and on a roadabout off a main road. Liked Layer Road better in the town with pubs around it.

They're all pretty shit for varying reasons. Crawley is easy to get to for me though so that instantly makes it far better than Accy.

I went to the old Roker Park in the mid 70s. Boxing Day, 0-0 against Burnley. God that was grim - but the pubs were great.

St Andrews - the worst away pub ever, dilapidated stadium, locals tooled up - but we won 6-4 after being 4-1 down with 30 minutes to go

Originally it was Bradford FC, we've always just been Bradford City. I think they changed the name to Park Avenue when they started again, we basically get called Bradford because of sky, and the fact a lot of people don't know Bradford has two teams anymore. Personally I'm not arsed either way, but if you've going to give us a dig do it right.

I think 'hatred' is too strong a word..

But I've grown to dislike Burton Albion. Is it jealously? who knows but they seem to constantly remind us how well run they are (which they are to be fair) but they've had a fair slice of luck over the last few years.

In L1 and L2 they just ground out endless 1-0 wins and ended up in the Championship, bandwagon fans who've only known success. Hasslebank could have been a flop, first job he had in management but no he turns out to be great.

Favourable cup draws regularly etc, they beat Bury 3-2 in the EFL cup and then drew Liverpool.. typical!

Since I've got older (in my 30s), I don't hate teams like I used to. I don't even mind Darlington now and quite happy they're on the way back. I think I'll base my list on how comfortable I'd be to talk about football over a pint with any fans of teams listed below.

Would pretend I didn't like football: Celtic, Rangers, Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs.

May mention football but would quickly change the topic as my blood begins to boil: Real Madrid (I lived in Barcelona for 2 years), Middlesbrough

Can talk about football but would rather not due to a mild to severe intolerance of their club: Carlisle, Oxford, Man City, Bristol City, Newcastle, Sheffield Wednesday.

I also still have an irrational dislike of small clubs of roughly our size who go up to the Championship and hold their own there. We came so close to doing that a couple of times and I feel bitter and jealous when someone like Burton/Yeovil/Colchester/Scunny etc do it and secretly feel happy when they go down to L1 again so I can forget about them. Then they are removed from my grudge list.

Any particular reason why you've thrown Bradford in there? They remain the loudest set of supporters I've ever seen at the DW when they took 5k to us in the League Cup. They were the best we had in L1 last season as well. I agree with you on those other clubs though, throw Ipswich and Swindon in there as well.

Any team that yo-yo's between the Championship and the Premier League. I like to see new teams playing in the Prem not Hull, Burnley, Reading, QPR and Norwich in intermittent spells, just make up your mind a stick with a division lads.

And Wigan more than any of the teams you just mentioned in that post.

To our gas brethren, I'm a bit pissed off that you haven't mentioned the bigger club down the road, the one with the sparkling stadium and 20K crowds. Maybe we're just a echelon too high for you now?
I was pulled up tonight by one of you bastards, drinking in Dandos in gas country slagging me off for showing respect.
I despise your club, with a passion only reserved for people I really do not like. The gas fans on here are sound, it's not their fault that they follow the really crap club in our beautiful city.
I respect what the gas have done in the last few years, hated it but respect it but the majority of gas fans are knuckle dragging f**kwits tbh, full of jealousy and delusion.
Sound lads on here but I can't f**king stand Bristol f**king r***rs! Swinedon can f**k off too but they're the aftebirth that nobody really gives a shit about TBH!
No offence fellas but you would expect nothing less!
OTIB.
To those outside our fair city, this is the crap we have to put up with, c**ts!

Here's another one, please go to 2 minutes, it's a killer!
'Bristol city and Ashton Gate will be our training ground', we're the biggest (no), richest (no) etc etc'? F**king braindead f**kwit! The son's okay but the father is why we f**king hate your club!
Even his son had to wear a seatbelt in their driveway as his dad is a braindead knob FFS!
We're not great but....?

You'll need bigger bait than that to hook me in sunshine. Back on topic, I have an irrational hate for clubs that bottle back to back Wembley cup finals. You wouldn't know any teams that fit the criteria would you? :pmsl::pmsl::pmsl:
