When you have less talent than Peru, what can you do really? I can understand Klinsmann was part of the problem but losing Donovan and eventually Dempsey were always going to be huge losses. I can struggle to name any players on the USA that are actually of decent quality.

I like Bobby Wood but that's about it.

Pulisic will be a hell of a player if tutored correctly - which he will be - at Dortmund/Liverpool ( ;) ).

That's about it though, and unless he's world class which I'm betting he's not, then you don't want to be saying that a 17 year old is your best player.

At the moment, every South American team except for Bolivia is more talented than the USA.

Funny how his name hasn't come up in the latest England job betting!

I personally don't know any world class 18 years old. But both Tuchel and Klopp seem to rate the guy so that is good enough for me.

I would agree the current generation of USMNT isn't good but what has Klinsmann done to improve it? No difference from Bob Bradley. Having said that, I am sure US will have quite a few decent players in the future.

Skip Football (Soccer for you) and concentrate on Baseball or Basketball.

A German coaching the Three Lions? That would be fun. The opposite, (an Englishman) coaching Die Mannschaft is unthinkable here.

@Pulisic: A very talented young player who is well advised to play for Dortmund for years under Thomas Tuchel.

Why? Only a matter of time until the kids poached from other countries will shine for us. Seemed to work pretty well for Germany.

I missed the irony tag /i in my post. So don't take my first sentence seriously (it was meant as an irony answer to Libertadores who thinks that even Peru is better than the US Team).

I'm sure Messi was world class at 18. Maybe even Neymar.

Yes, and Pele was world class at 17 too. But these are the exceptions that prove the rule. Normally teenagers at 17-19 aren't world class in Football (with exceptions). And Pulisic with his 18 years isn't worldclass yet but he begins to improve and is very talented and in the future (2-3 years) will be a player of international format, maybe never worldclass, but a very good player.

.

I don't think it would be that popular with some sections of our media and support either but Jürgen is one of those well respect Germans in this country.

Klinsman outstayed his welcome by a couple of years. He would probably have been remembered quite fondly if he left after Brazil 2014. He's not a bad manager, but he failed to transition the squad after the World Cup and has probably held back a couple of promising careers as a result.

I didn't mean it disrespectful that the German FA would never even consider to hire an English coach for our team. It's only because we never had a foreign manager.

Jürgen Klinsmann is no club coach (in fact he was really shite when in charge at Bayern) so he has to find a job as national coach or maybe he will "end" as TV "pundit" (and here he's okay, he made that for the German TV at World Cup 2002 and that's where he impressed some people at our FA it seems that they gave him the job in 2004 although he had no valid coaching licence (but Franz Beckenbauer hadn't one either back in 1984)

Going back to an old manager is never good. What could they do though? I mean losing 0-4 at home to Costa Rica...

Interim manager. He's there to steady the ship and ensure 2018 qualification. Biesla has been rumoured with Donovan as an assistant. Not sure it's the right fit, but they'd be more entertaining. Pulisic and Wood are both excellent players, particularly the former. Brooks and Yedlin and Green a tier below.

Hypothetical 2018 (Biesla) lineup:
Wood
Pulisic - Green
Johnson - Bradley - Zelalem - Yedlin
Brooks - Miazga - Carter-Vickers

The likes of Gooch, Morris, Jameison, Zardes, and Kitchen to be involved. They need more consistency than Klinsmann offered. He never seemed settled on system or personnel.

It was in Costa Rica...but all the same.

Those Bielsa rumours are lazy. He's been linked with every NT in the last 5 years (Peru, Mexico and now the USA)
