Winger?! Darren Gregory is definitely a defender
Sorry you are right, I did all of my research on Wikipedia and the BBC website like any decent mainstream lower league pundit.

I think we’re in the poo enough for me to start properly posting in here now, our current squad -

Richard O'Donnell - Under contract, prone to a howler but should be one of the better L2 keepers
Ben Wilson - Not sure if he only signed for one season but purely back up, I think he has a howler YouTube vid from previous teams

Joe Riley - Under contract, on big money by the sounds of it as has barely kicked a ball, try get rid
Adam Chicksen - Out of contract, release
Paudie O'Connor - On loan, reasonable chance he'll resign
Anthony O'Connor - Under contract, awful but I can't see anyone taking him
Nat Knight-Percival - Out of contract, get rid
Kelvin Mellor - Under contract
Connor Wood - Under contract
Calum Woods - Out of contract, will leave
Paul Caddis - Out of contract, a must keep but not sure if he will

Sean Scannell - Under contract
Jake Reeves - Under contract (even though he's not played for 15 months)
Jack Payne - On loan
Tyrell Robinson - Under contract but currently suspended pending a rape allegation
Jacob Butterfield - On loan
Jermaine Anderson - Out of contract, terrible, get rid
Hope Akpan - Under contract
Daniel Devine - Not sure, never plays so get rid
Jordan Gibson - On loan at Stevenage who are welcome to him
Luca Colville - Under contract but never plays
Lewis O'Brien - On loan
Josh Wright - Under contract but please please someone take him
Shay McCartan - Under contract (currently at Lincoln), up in the air a bit depending on how much Lincoln want him

Eoin Doyle - Under contract
George Miller - On loan (Signed for Barnsley already)
Billy Clarke - Out of contract 50/50 if he stays, a bit past it but could do a job down here
Alex Jones - Out of contract, will presumably stay with Cambridge
Omari Patrick - Under contract, dire, try get rid
David Ball - On loan

The loanees will all go back, but there's so many over paid under contract dross that we're ladened with, getting rid of as much as possible will determine our chances of going back up.

It's not as simple as we are making it, though. As previously mentioned, if Hannat is one of our top 3 earners does he justify a deal given the general consensus is that he isn't an automatic starter. With him, it's a two year deal if he's earning less than Oyeleke, Worrall etc. I wouldn;t want him earning more than a Conlon, for example.

Same with Legge. Assuming he's one of the top earners, do we keep him based on the theory that if we managed to sign Howkins, Legge would not be first choice. That's an expensive contract for a bit part player. If we're looking for a backup centre half, I'd rather keep Rawlinson if he is on (guessing) 1k a week as oppose to Legge on (guessing) 2k a week. It woul;d make more financial sense and could mean we could keep Angus and Turner.
A lot of our players are on a lot less than those figures above, that is why with Smurf at the helm we have only attracted non league players or youngsters released by clubs.
I would be very surprised if Luke Hannant is one of our top earners so don`t let that sort of gossip cloud your judgment.

Yes it's my actual name I messed up when registering .
I was a midfield maestro with no penchant for a tackle whatsoever.
As weak as piss but a decent football brain, served me well in my days playing for The Plough and The Waterloo, where you had loads of time on the ball !!
Sadly hung my boots up last year after getting run ragged by a kid my son's age.

I'm honoured to get a mention on here , almost propels me to SERNWA status

I can’t disagree with much of that. We need to reduce this years wage bill - believed to be in excess of £5.5m. Mind, we’re paying £10k per week for Jack Payne, so when he returns back to the terriers, that’ll reduce it by a silly amount.

I still believe we have some very talented individual players - so, strangely, it’s difficult for me to distinguish which players I’d like to see depart. I wouldn’t like to think how much money we’re paying the three RB’s on our books (Mellor, Riley and Caddis). I don’t think Caddis has been strong enough defensively (mind, who has). Mellor has a recent promotion from this league under Bowyer, so for me he will be our RB next season. Caddis and Riley will leave. The likes of Chicksen and NKP will leave. It would be amazing to keep Lewis O’Brien, David Ball and Jacob Butterfield (the latter being very unrealistic). I’m hopeful to see Reeves and Robinson being back in the frame - both would be fantastic at this level IMO. Clarke will re-sign - he loves the club. I still believe Alex Jones has something in him too, if he can shake off these niggling injuries - unlikely.

GK: Richard O’Donnell

RB: Kelvin Mellor
CB:
CB:
LB:

RW: Sean Scannell
CM: Hope Akpan/Jake Reeves
CM:
LW: Tyrel Robinson

ST: Eoin Doyle
ST:

So, of the players we have contracted, we have the spine right here - providing they discover their finer form.

I trust Bowyer to build a side around Doyle, and he should score for fun at this level.

I think we're in a good bargaining position with him in the sense that he's not been that important a player for us this season so he's not one we're likely to push the boat out for.

From the outside, it doesn't seem as though either side really want each other, although I think you'd do worse than keeping McCartan around. He's clearly fine at L2 level as his spells at Accrington and here show.

I think it’s fair to say he’s a good ish player for this level so should you not want to pay what we’d want, he’d be one of the better squad players, I wouldn’t be fussed either way. Add to that the reason we loaned him out was his lack of impact in L1 so that’d be another thing for you guys to consider.

McCartan, Jones and Doyle is a very decent trio of attacking options for this level, in my opinion.

No offence Bantams, but I kind of groaned when I realised you lot were coming back down. Having been living in Leeds when we were both last in the same division, I went to VP for all our away matches and there were some absolute dross games between the two sides. Hopefully it'll be a bit more entertaining this time round. Genuinely can't remember the last time we beat you, either.

I would imagine it’s dross full stop - it’s L2.

Where to start?

Glen Morris, the only reason we are still in the league. Not great on crosses and punching but he will be the player of the season by a mile.
Yousef Mersin, back up keeper. Last seen punching the ball into his own net. Millwall sold him to Liverpool for over a million! If nothing else he needs to leave for the sake of his own career.
Lewis Young, under contract. We've converted him to a right wing back. Trouble is his crossing is abysmal. Someone at the club loves him.
Joe McNerney, stopper type centre half under contract. Kewell didn't rate him but he keeps plugging away and has played a lot of games this season.
Tom Dalison, under contract. Better than Cambridge fans said but ... Meh.
N'Gala, big tall only plays when other players aren't fit. Sorry Bondz but let go.
Francombe, better as the right side of three central defenders. Under contract. Keep.
David Sesay, forced himself into the team as a left back. Has a tendency to pull out of a challenge. Only young so I'd keep.
Jon Doherty, under contract, left back. Good delivery but not much else...meh.
Joe McGuire, on loan from Fleetwood. A Liverpool lad so I doubt he wants to be down here permanently.
Matty Willox, on loan from Man utd (no idea how). League one standard midfielder. Doubt we will see him next season.
Panutche Camarra, we have converted him to a midfielder. Runs constantly, has a trick. One of the few bright spots of the season. Keep.
Dannie Bulman, hugely popular. 40 year old midfielder whose energy levels put people half his age to shame. Plays most games so a definite keeper.
Felipe Morais, definite quality there but has a tendency to flit in and out of games. Under contract.
Josh Payne, missing the end of the season with an ankle injury. Our first choice midfielder. Under contract.
Brian Galach, 17 year old winger who couldn't get into Burgess Hill's starting side. About five foot nothing. May be our seventh man on the bench next season.
Luke Gambin, on loan from Luton. Small and energetic. Sign him if we can but he needs to up his goal tally.
Dominic Poleon, we paid money for this man to sit in the bench and take the piss out of us (literally did on on Instagram). Under contract so unless some club decides to take him he will be here next season.
Olly Palmer, as such the best season he has ever had. Under contract but rumours Southend want him. Also took the piss out of the club and fellow players on Instagram so I doubt he will be here next season.
Nathaniel-Grant, young midfield/winger. Has a habit of being hard to disposses and likes a long shot. Keep.
Ibrahim Meite, signed after his release by Cardiff. Under contract. Meh
Ricardo German, lots of goals for Hendon. Were taking a chance on him but he needs to get fitter.

Who have I missed?

We have a lot of dross under contract. A lot of dross we will have trouble getting rid of.

Cioffi, manager. Not good enough, under contract.

Listening to an interview with David Worrall today sounds like he’d like to stay at the club which would be great if could get it done. He’s been absolutely crucial to our turnaround in form. A lot however is dependent on if/when the ownership of the club gets sorted but would be a very good start.

Worrall is a class act at this level when on it, thankfully now Askey has got him back in the fold and is treating him right we are getting the benefits, when we are playing the likes of Mark Harris and Dan Elliott wide over him it makes you wonder what Aspin saw at times!

Brilliant post but I am a bit disappointed to not even make your undecided list, though grateful I'm not on the get rid. I feel like one of those players who has gone out on loan mid-season, probably to a team a couple of divisions below, and is forgotten completely...going out of contract at the end of the season and not even making the released list.

It’s a shame the manager is staying, but I’ve just got to hope and prey that over the summer he miraculously gains some tactical nous.
Anyone who’d been at the away games I’ve been to since January would not be wanting pressley in charge next season.

He's been brilliant since coming back - just needs to be played up front and nowhere else.
