In other news, sounds like our First Team coach Joaquin Gomez is joining Macclesfield to become their new manager.

Quite surprised about that.

Since Bradley officially signed its all seemed to have gone very quiet. Theres been O'nien linked on twitter which seems tenous at best (at least Bradley had paper talk to go with it) but other than that not much going on. Even Outlaws hasnt had much going on!

Might be my memory playing tricks on me but cant really remember a summer where there has been such a paucity of rumours for us. Still early I guess.

So far then, who do we think have been the stand out signings?

Town are reported to be one of four clubs, Pompey, Lincoln and Blackpool being the other three, who are interested in signing Posh midfielder Anthony Grant.

From what I saw of him last season, he had regressed as a player from the previous year. That said, I guess if he's playing in a more confident team, it might rekindle his form.

Injuries have done him some damage, he's lost a yard of pace. He'd still be useful in L2, but he's now a 15 goal per season (max) striker at that level.

L1, nothing better than impact sub any more.

I think we'll be a lot less active this summer than in recent times and the lack of rumours probably reflects that.

Last summer we brought in 11 players and had several relatively big money sales (McGeehan, Marriott, Vassell). 9 players in the previous summer, 12 in the year before, 10 (11 if you include Doyle in September) the year before that which was our first back in the FL.

I think we're probably looking at 5 or 6 max this summer including the two already in the door so less fire = less smoke I guess.

Its nice not to have such a turnover of players for a change. Must be the first time under the 2020 regime... not that I'm blaming them for that.

Dieng leaving would make sense given we signed someone last week who plays pretty much Dieng’s role.

If Mantom can get fully fit, he is one of the best midfielders in the league. It's just a shame we won't give him another chance to see that.

‘Bit of a ‘meh’ player is Dieng. Solid enough L1 midfielder, who doesn’t contribute much.

Though we only had him on loan for half a season and he was injured for abit of that it was clear to see when he did play he has quality. As you say it's all about keeping him fit. Thoughts on Hopper who has also joined us?

Josh Wright and Dieng sounds like a very fair trade then.

Aye, some would argue that Wright has far more experience and has contributed more than Dieng in terms of goals and assists.

I understand that his time with you lot was frustrating for both parties, largely because he was seemingly played out of position - so I’m not sure if that’s a fair assessment.

Plus, I don’t expect him to leave due to what I’ve read on Twitter.

I really liked Hopper and so did most of our fans. He works his socks off and does the dirty work, enabling his strike partner to get the goals. He doesn't score many but he's very good at what he does.

He had a good goalscoring record season before last because he was on pens one game he actually scored a hat-trick of them. The first pen he took for us he missed lol summing up his time here. The Gills fans on here will tell you he is nothing special but take my opinion how you want.

I don’t mind Dieng, hasn’t started much here because he’s so inconsistent but he’s a 100%er effort wise and on a good day he covers every blade of grass and pops in the odd goal too, just on his off days he’s not worth having and too often this has left him on our bench.
Don’t think anyone would miss him that much but I think he’s a good squad filler, Ryan McGowan (Aussie centre half for us) joked he’d see him back in training after they were chatting about the France Oz match last Saturday online.

You're right, I think most would say exactly that. He scored a few pens and tap ins that season, but I think I'm right in saying that after the bizarre penalty hat-trick he missed every other one he took for us, including what could've been a fatal miss in the last game 0-0 at Northampton when we were a Port Vale goal away from the drop. He was massively on an ego-trip that season too, which meant that rather than hold together the midfield as he was on the pitch to do, he decided that he wanted to instead spend most of the game getting into the 6-yard box so he could get his name in lights. I've seen a few comments from Bradford fans suggesting that his goalscoring year was his first year as an attacking midfielder rather than holding, but no - he was just tactically and positionally inept. We had Bradley Dack playing attacking midfield at that time.

I assume he's already told the Bradford fans how much he loves Yorkshire and all it's associated by-products?

Harry Lennon set to sign from Charlton. Anton Ferdinand is going to be totally frozen out the side this year and that's great news, the further he is away from the pitch the better. Be nice to get him off the wage bill but cannot see that happening.

Yeah Harry Lennon is pony but unfortunately we need him as we have no players.

Club is fucked.

20/1 for relegation is looking like a pretty good bet at the minute.

Seen that he's not rated by Charlton fans but Powell will know this kid from his time there and must of seen something in him and he is only young I guess. Can't see him coming straight into the startling line up anyway so will have to prove himself to get on the pitch.

Yeah nothing against him and hope he does well but whenever I’ve seen him play he’s been very error prone and gives away fouls where he struggles to get on the right side of attackers.

He needs a lot of work.

Rumour we might be looking at Peterborough's left back, Andrew Hughes?

Any good Posh Hammer?

A league One club has also enquired about Ben Pringle supposedly.

Big Mick Harford was in Derry over the weekend scouting the Derry vs Dundalk game. Local journos reckon he was scouting former Celtic Winger Michael Duffy who by all accounts had a stormer and is soon to be out of contract. Some of the fake Twitter transfer accounts have picked it up and some suggestion Bristol Rovers also interested.

We do need midfielders however would be an odd one as we don't play with wingers. That said Jones does love trying to do convert wingers into central midfielders.

Any possible truth in the probably fake rumour we're after Kevin O'Connor?

I've no idea, saw it mentioned on our forum but don't know where it came from.

He gets a lot of stick from our fans as he's very naive and clearly not ready for Championship football but I actually think there is a decent full back there, potentially. Although maybe not in the second tier.

Didn't impress at Fleetwood but that's not to say he couldn't do a job elsewhere.

I saw it on one of those twitter accounts that's a day old with about 15 followers so treat with all due caution, but we do need a pair of fullbacks. Hopefully he's playing football for enjoyment after his lottery win so he wouldn't expect anything as vulgar as wages.

You only got them because they were supposed to be starting work at the Keepmoat until you poached them. Don’t worry your recruitment campaign will start once we have a manager and a list of targets
