It’s best 11 individuals put into a team, regardless of whether the team would work or not.

Nice to see Danny Mayor getting officially recognised as the best player in the league though.

Is he out of Tom Hamer’s pocket yet?

I didn't even notice he was playing against Mansfield until his shot went out for a throw-in.

Guess i'll get to have another look next week.

Odd considering one of your own fans said this about the same fixture... he’s scored numerous goals against the Stags over the years.

Odd, we were saying how annoyinous he was against us, that said maybe the fan must have had a few lol. Maybe he can impress in the league on Wednesday.

He’s an alright player though, no argument there.

He is statistically the best player in the division according to the article posted in this thread. I’d say that’s pretty good evidence for him being the best player in the division.

I chuckled at the Bury fans bigging up Mayor in fairness as bias... then we played us and was easily the stand out this season.

Statistics can be skewed in many different ways.

Surely they’ll be big money offers in for him in January given burys latest financial catastrophe on this basis?

Our new owner has just injected £3M into the club. Not sure there’s a financial catastrophe imminent.

They dont need to be big as he's out of contract in the summer!!
And as for this L2 team, whatever they are basing it on is well flawed, Aimson included as a sub? bloody hell.

Never too far from a financial catastrophe at Bury

Bury is the perfect club to throw millions away and mess about for a bit, it's like theres a group of millionaires taking turns.

Not called the shakers for anything.

Better off following Rochdale, safe pair of hands, good manager.

That 3 million is to pay Day’s debts off and keep us from going under.

Oh good, it's almost Saturday. Means Alex fans can witness another drab performance and another defeat, probably to nil, against FGR.

To be fair, I think we match up well with them, they play a slightly less physical brand of football which we usually cope well with. Thankfully the weather seems to be favourable, so no standing in a torrential downpour. Also no drama with FGR being a bunch of misreable fuckers and not giving our fans half of a mostly empty covered stand either.

Not holding out much hope, reckon we might score, but we'll probably lose. We'll definitely lose if we fall behind at any stage. Come on Crewe FFS, prove me wrong for once!

Home to Newport for us,

Some big games at the top of the league this weekend so getting a win could really open things up or bring everything in again.

who's Danny Mayor? Seriously, never heard of this guy.

Mayor is essentially an FGR player in all but name, we've already agreed to sign him for £50k + Fabien Robert but he'll stay on loan at Bury until the summer to let him get some more experience before stepping up into our squad. Bury will keep this deal quiet as they don't want their fans to think that they're becoming our feeder club (they are) but the facts will come out soon enough.

Don't worry about not knowing about him, once he plays for us he'll become a household name. Hard to get noticed playing for Bury.

Got the offer last week of a lift to support Barrow at Solihull today. My immediate reaction to the choice between a trek up the M6 to get turned over by Bentley's Battlers at Morecambe or a trek through motorways and the West Midlands wasteland to Damson Park was to check if City were at home.

As it is they are - and I'll pop down the road for a few beers and City v The Rouslers (Bromsgrove Sporting FC), whilst listening to Jonno and Doug on the wireless.

Our new manager's first interview suggests that we'll be parking the bus and kicking lumps out of the opposition for our next few matches - so unless the weather's acting up I'll probably give MK a miss as well and go looking for some fresh air and beer on New Year's Day. That just leaves Crawley and Lincoln at the Abbey to desparately seek out some comfort before the transfer window opens and disappoints.

I'm not sure our lads have it them to stand toe to toe with low scoring Morecambe, so I'm hoping the interview was bluster and we'll give it a go and seek some goals. I can see 2-1 to Morecambe and a start to a long and painful Xmas/NY programme.

Danny Mayor to give our brittle travelling defence a hard time, but as it’s the time of the year for miracles, maybe we’ll come away from Gigg Lane with a point.

I wonder if his mind will be fully on helping Bury's promotion push though. He may instead be distracted by thoughts of FGR's own promotion push, and that fact a draw between two of their challengers would be no bad thing.

We should be 3 or 4 up here.

Bury pass it around ok but we’ve looked like scoring every counter, Norwood and Jay Harris have had some poor misses.

I was looking for a good, solid performance from Crawley today to repair some of the damage done from the Northampton game.

I'll carry on looking. No pattern of play, no game plan and no idea from dead ball situations.

The penalty sums our defence up. Bad cross, going out for a goal kick. Our right back decides he needs to make sure by pulling the forward back. Then he has the nerve to complain about the decision.
