Our first ever competitive match against Wolves. Looking forward to it, no pressure to win the game so a new ground easy for me to get to and hopefully a good night out.

Bloody Colchester. Get your money on an upset. Never do well against lower league sides. For evidence see

Luton 3-1 Aston Villa
Bradford 3-1 Aston Villa
Aston Villa 2-1 Bradford (4-3 agg to Bradford)
Wycombe 1-1 Aston Villa (won the replay)
Aston Villa 5-3 Notts County (AET, Notts dominated until ET)
Aston Villa 0-1 Leyton Orient
Aston Villa 1-2 Sheff Utd

I could go on, and on, and on, and on....

Fucking Portsmouth. We play them in a friendly a couple of weeks beforehand.

Never want a home draw in the first round.. and that's what we got.

Gillingham away would have been far better

Chesterfield at home, home tie is always good and definitely one I'd expect to put the fringe lads out and win the game.

My girlfriend's family are all Villa fans so was hoping for this - would have preferred Villa Park but would love us to win!

Yes Morecambe ya bastards. Chance at revenge for 2011. What a competition.

Argyle at our place for the first time in years, not bad. Has to be over 10 years since we've played them.
It will be nice to see the second biggest club in the West country at our place and, no doubt, they will bring a few to the Gate.
At least it's not Gillingham.

I've heard that Derby will be resting their first teamers in the opening league game of the season in anticipation of playing us in the Caraboa Cup in their 'Cup Final'. :2thumb:

Fucks sake why couldn't it have been Morecambe away. We always lose at home to a lower league side in the first round. Morecambe (2011 as Craig has mentioned), Rochdale, Crewe and Northampton all in the last 5 or 6 years. Sack of shite.

We'll either just scrape by you, or you'll have a nice easy win, it's how we work for some reason.

It may actually not be competitive. We've been known to put out a U-23 side against Man Utd in the League, so you may well see the gardeners, catering staff and programme sellers in our team. After all, they didn't do too badly for most of last season.

We've only got 9 players signed up so far so it might still be a close game
