Highgate School is considering mix-and-match outfits for pupils after head teachers said that growing numbers of children were questioning their gender.

The way that they link it to Marx is actually the best compliment you can ever pay Marxism, which in some of its various disciplines hasn't always been great on the gender question. Essentially: "Marx wanted to end the sexual division of labour, and this where we've ended up!"

Communism was all about class warfare. Destroy Western society - kill the people that have machines / food / land, etc. The poor against the rich. Then take over. The oppressed versus the oppressor.

But the Marxists behind pushing communism in the West didn’t have success everywhere. Nationalists fought back in defence.

Marxists realised that to push Communism (the destruction of Europe) they needed to change society first. They flipped the oppressed versus the oppressor. It was no longer poor versus rich. It was stable, traditional society versus minority views. Their plan was to take away religious beliefs, attack the family unit, destroy gender, race, borders. Culture warfare instead of class.

And that’s where we are today – and it’s where we have been since the end of WWII. The weapons aren’t guns and tanks anymore. They are words and TV sets.

It's equally wrong to suggest that there are two biological sexes though. Science isn't really able to classify people into male and female - they have a number of different measures, but they don't always stack up nicely. How do you classify someone with male genitals but XX chromosomes? How do you classify someone with both XX and XY chromosomes in different cells?

Here's a paper from Nature from a couple of years ago that argues that no-one is fully male or fully female - but we all exist on a spectrum. It's really worth reading the whole thing, but I've picked out some bits of its conclusion.
