Notts have had their momentum halted in the past week after an unlucky draw against Crewe and a subpar performance against Luton.

Luton probably still need a win from their last 3 to secure a second leg home play off tie. Can see Notts given a couple of youth teamers a chance and I'd like to see Nolan himself have a game at some point. Hope Notts can take 700 or so.

I'd go for a 1-0 Luton win if notts don't have Ameobi, 1-1 if we do because he practically makes Stead good when playing.

.................I know wrong thread but couldn't resist a little jab.

Could do with a win. Nt sure I want to go up as were far from equipped to do much but battle relegation. But on the other hand I want us to do well and nobody stands out in playoffs right now so if we are to give it a shot we could do with some momentum to get/go into PlayOffs. Whoever finishes fourth will for sure. Can see us slipping up along the way tbh and not getting 4th spot

Luton (much like the rest of the playoffs pack) have been stumbling recently so it is a chance for Notts to take some points (even though it doesn't matter). I suspect Nolan will be casting an eye over a couple of those who he is unsure about but would still expect a professional performance, he doesn't strike me as the kind of person to put out a deliberately weak team and use it as a friendly as all three of our matches left, the other team has something to play for

Without Shola we are bang average, especially as Nolan doesn't seem to fancy Forte at all.

I can't see us picking up anything here. Luton have to win really and we are pretty much on the beach

Albeit probably unlikely, if Luton win today, they can mathematically guarantee a play off place, if results go our way.

We need 4 points probably from our last 3 games.

Notts County are the only team in the division who mathematically can't go up or down this season. Should be the absolute perfect opponent with Luton really needing just one more win for the playoffs.

Can't say that Luton selection fills me with confidence though, so mich dross in there.

That Hylton has got to be the thickest player in the league.

Other than that, fun game. Chances at both ends, think we did more than enough second half to get a point but we know we're a few players short anyway even without the injuries today.

Luton looked to have some good individuals but miles away from a promotion standard team.

Err no pretty smart actually he got himself sent off on purpose! So he's banned for 2 games so he's available for both playoff semi final games.

Yep, very smart (perhaps not very sporting but who gives a shit!).

Had he not picked up the 2nd yellow he'd have been on 14 yellows, meaning a single booking in the last 2 league games or either play off semi would mean a 3 match ban. His second yellow today means he misses two games but resets to 13 yellows. Winning.

Well, he's available for the first playoff game, then he'll get a booking and be out for the rest of the season.

Have to say, County are the worst team I've seen this season (I did miss the Hartlepool game). That Luton let them hang around with the whole game says everything you need to know about Luton's promotion chances.

Nope he is back at 13 per what was said on the local radio just now, so he just has to avoid being booked in one of the semi final legs and he is available for the final should we get there of course.

Ok I thought the first booking would still count to his tally.

If he gets booked in one semi then gets booking 15 in the final would he then be banned for the first 3 games of next season?

I think so yes. Really the accumulated bookings thing should end after match 46 but oh well, I'll take a three game suspension next season if that's what it takes to get up!

Booking conspiracy aside Hylton was absolutely immense today yet again. On another day he scores a hat trick.

Yeah, I know. That's what I mean - the fact it was that obvious what he'd done that I clocked it straight away without knowing owt about Luton means that the FA are bound to. Pretty sure they've given extended bans for it in the past.

By the way, absolute blessing that Macey got recalled by Arsenal, Moore has been a massive upgrade now he's over the nerves or whatever blighted him when he first came on loan.

Today was a real battle, against a team that seem to try and play to our weaknesses, but our defence were like warriors up against Ameobi and Stead.

From one to eleven they were outstanding; they were right up for it, especially in the second half when they were under the cosh.

Danny Hylton is a cult hero - he could've had four goals today; certainly two at a minimum. I'd have put money on him to have scored a couple of the one on ones. He gets a deliberate sending off and a nice rest prior to the play offs.

I'm partially surprised that Notts are as low as they are - perhaps it proves that there isn't too much between all the teams in the division. That said, their attacking play outside of set pieces was pretty woeful.

Jones is a good actor because he actually seemed a bit pissed off about Hyltons sending off on the radio!

Hylton shenanigans aside, quite enjoyed the game today. Quite open really from both sides but think we deserved the win overall, we missed a number of good chances.

On another day Hylton gets a hat trick possibly more, that run he went on and beat half the Notts County side was ridiculous, his shot for the equaliser that Palmer followed up equally so. Not used to seeing him miss those 1v1s at all!

Potts had probably the best game I've seen him have from an attacking stand point also, was clear he was at least trying to be a bit more positive than his usual check back inside routine.

Like the look of Moore in goal now, looks really assured, some good punches and held on to a few crosses, looks a lot better than Macey did IMO. Feel even more sorry for him about the whole situation with his debut! Cuthbert MoM though, had a good battle with Ameobi and Stead which he won.

Notts County were ok, but who the hell was that playing right back? Absolutely useless, I think he thought he was playing rugby the amount he was kicking for touch.

We're as low as we are because we lost ten games in a row in the winter when the players weren't being paid and the club was generally fucked. We were a play-off side up until the end of October and have been since January.

The right back is Josh Clackstone, kid on loan from Hull. Both of our usual full backs were out injured and it showed, Hull gave him a new deal the other day but he's been utterly hopeless whenever I've seen him.

Anyone else seen the stats from yesterday's game?

Apparently Notts only had 1 shot on target, despite they scored one and forced Moore into two outstanding saves at a minimum.

And we only had 36% possession. Whilst they had a lot of the ball in the second, they didn't have it for nearly 60 minutes out of 90.

Collin has to do better with the second goal. It's a proper daisy cutter that rolls in

Have you stopped feeding Ollie Palmer? Where's the belly gone?

I'm still a bit baffled by all the stick Palmer has got at Orient and Mansfield really - He has looked at the very least competent and is able to make himself a nuisance to opposition defences. Technically he looks a bit limited in some areas and for a big man his heading isn't all that great but he is clearly a capable enough League 2 player.

I was expecting a warm body and that's about it from the way he was talked down before arriving.

Agree with this. A mate of mine is a Boreham Wood fan and researcher for Football Manager and was scathing of Palmer when he signed for us. Every time I've seen him he has influenced the game and offers us something different to Hylton, Vassell and Marriott. If we go up we need to be looking at a higher quality of player however if we are in League 2 next season I'd be more than happy to take him permanently.
