I really like Martin Allen, he had us playing some good football when we won league 2. He also has a habit of getting his teams to grind out wins when they need to. Knows this league inside out too, great appointment.

Chesterfield were in the L1 play offs three seasons ago. Now in NL.

This is the ideal appointment for them and I'd expect Allen to get them challenging when they might otherwise have found life very tough.

In all seriousness, I think we're all well aware of predicament. We've been an absolute embarrassing shambles in all aspects a club could be since Paul Cook left. We've lost every week, playing dire football while we're at it. It's just this 'oooh just you wait' doom-saying by just about every single fan in this league. We know it's hell, we know it's dire, and we know we're going to have to get used to spending a good few years down here. I think most of us are expecting it to continue to get worse before it gets better (and by better, I mean the current CEO and owner out of the door) and we've no doubt we'll be massively turned over by some backwater village we didn't even know had a football club. No one is expecting any highs at this club any time soon, so trust me, you're well and truly preaching to the converted.

Still now 1/5 to be our next boss. Might still be the bookies making an assumption, but it's a fair one to make, and Still was pretty clear that he's not retiring just yet.

Mixed views if it is to be him. Clearly knows this division as well as anyone, and has got teams out of here better than anyone. He'll inherit a team that has the foundations to challenge and will have money to spend to add to it.

There is an element of our supporter base that will make it difficult should we not get off to a good start. The football was poor for long periods in his previous two spells and that sticks in the minds of some. I can only think of Mullery and Fry that had supporters as vocal calling for a dismissal, although Fry turned it around in the end.

One thing you can say about him is that he is a gentleman. Brilliant gesture by him to resign at Dagenham & Redbrigde to take his wags off the clubs overheads. If he is on 6 figures a year, I doubt we'll be paying him that.
