Anybody else got this?

Mine arrived a day early so I got it today and have played a fair bit of it. Very impressed with what I've seen so far.

I really liked Mafia 2 and felt that it was probably a bit under rated. Even still, for some reason I never really took any notice of Mafia 3, and only really preordered it because I found it cheap and remembered liking the last one so it was a bit of gamble... but, thus far, it's looking like a great decision. Loving the story and the setting. I was never really into this New Bordeaux setting, but now having played the game I feel like an idiot. It's so different, both in the city and the era, and it's really helping the game stand out.

So yeah, really liking it so far. Anybody else got it/getting it tomorrow?

I loved Mafia 2 and noticed they've really gone to town on Mafia 3 with regards to adverts etc.

I'll give it a go pretty soon.

Should arrive today (Friday) for me. Will give it a go when I'm back from gym probably.

Shopto dispatched it for me Wednesday but not until like 7pm so didn't make the delivery then. Annoying for a preorder from them.

Does look pretty good tho. Also got a 2month pass to NowTV Cinema emailed to me from shopto for ordering the game so gonna use that

I got a major problem with this game that I might have to start again!

I'm in the chapter 'Delroy Hollow The Way Of Flesh' All objectives are ticked off but I still have £5000 worth of damage to do remaining, but no way to do it other than killing Dixie Mafia guys which only takes off £50 per death lol.

Frustrated is not the fucking word, Jesus christ it's putting me off this game forever.

It must be a glitch or something, I literally have no Objectives on my map.

I've got the family kickback code from a pre-order. I've entered the code and the weapons are not there when the arms dealer shows. Couple of things that disappoint in the game, the enemy AI are stupid and the police are easy to shake if they come after you.

A few hours in. The presentation of the story is superb, seems completely redundant as an open-world game though - it's a bit L.A Noire in the sense there's no reason to drive around/explore other than to trigger the next mission. Gameplay doesn't feel particularly 'next-gen' either as the movement, gunplay and AI are all underwhelming. Willing to forgive that all if the story holds up though - just feel like they could have benefitted from making it a linear game instead and the typical open-world game elements are awkwardly shoe-horned in with little thought.

Played a few hours and new things are constantly being introduced. I enjoy the sneaking element, you can take down entire compounds with just a knife. Story is decent enough thus far. I'm hoping there are good things to spend cash on rather than weapons and cars.

Completely agree.

Anybody a bit disappointed with the overall graphics? The cut scenes are fantastic, but the actual city lacks character in my opinion.

Remember Mafia 2 driving through Empire Bay at the start of the game, the roads covered in snow having a conversation with Joe while several B-29 Superfortress bombers flew overhead? That was a gaming moment I'll never forget, I doubt this will produce anything near that.

Also, I just had a glitch where I was driving around the city 40 foot in the air.

I've gotta say, I still really like the game but the game actually looks like shit for the most part. Especially the sky. It's fucking terrible.

Makes Mafia 2 look ahead of its time don't it?

Had several lighting problems and the game keeps crashing on XB1. Considering getting it on the PS4 in the hope it's more stable!

I really like this game. Admittedly I'm only at the part where you give Cassandra the hollow but it reminds me entirely of the two Godfather games last-gen which I irrationally loved more than probably anyone. I can already see it will get repetitive which might get to me later but so did those games and the story's intriguing enough to offer motivation to do so.

Only issue I've had is the previously mentioned lighting, I mean fucking hell 2K, how much testing did you do? I understand the realism of not being able to see when it's dark but it's a bit too much. Just done the great amusement park level with Doucet but I don't think I spotted a single enemy unless I used the red outline vision thing. Driving at night in certain places is impossible too - sunrise in this game is what I imagine the apocalypse will look like.

 Too right. It's fucking awful.

Yeah, that amusement park mission is brilliant, probably the highlight so far.

You know, the game seems to get some slack for its shooting mechanics, but I actually really like it. Every shot seems to land a real punch, I love the way guys react to being shot. And also, I pretty much elusively use a shotgun on this game... which is weird, because I usually don't use them much on games.

I've not got a problem with it either, I do like how enemies are bullet sponges but it just trains you to aim for the head, hit recognition seems fine to me too. Also using the shotgun mainly as invariably everything ends up with you going into a building to get the top geezer.

One thing I've noticed today is that there is no point in dealing with enforcers - when I started I thought it might be a Shadow of Morder type shtick where they were tough bastards but you rock up at the racket and they're there and, to be honest, they seem to be as easy to kill as regular enemies. You can still stealth kill them and a shotgun or sniper (I love using snipers in this game, especially on the construction sites) deals with them easily.

Loving the silenced pistol. Does anyone bother hiding bodies? I have on a few occasions, but rarely.

Just downloaded a patch for it. Assuming it's just general glitch fixes?

Had a funny gaming moment last night. I had to interrogate this bloke who was basically leaning against a wall with one other enemy. This was outside, not in a building. I took his mate out with the silenced pistol and was just about to interrogate the target when a member of the public made a run for the phone to grass on me. Then, for some reason another enemy showed up beside the phone box that the woman had just got into. He was one of the enemies that has a molotov. I shot the enemy just as he'd let go of his molotov killing him and causing the phone box with the woman in to explode, killing her too.

I feel like the number of cars you need to steal for Burke's side mission could be fewer.

Game's taken a slight jump once you've offed the Lieutenants - I'm finding myself running out of adrenaline shots and calling the hit squads in for help far more in Frisco Fields and Southdowns.

Frisco Fields is a pain purely because the police are everywhere.

They really have based this game off the Godfather ones haven't they. Repetitive and dull majority with some truly brilliant main story missions. Luckily I've only got 2 more rackets left to secure (unless the Bayou unlocks as a district as I suspect it must do).

Vito's inclusion is genius, especially his side missions - good ode to Mafia 2.

The Ferrari knock off is awesome once you buy the vehicle modifications too, actually removes the annoyance of having to drive over 2000m to the next checkpoint too as you can do it in no time in that beauty.

Santangelo...the most pointless character in any video game ever? I do love how much attention they've put into all the Marcano underlings - I think I've found every one of them very interesting despite the fact they're all basically only in one cutscene before you kill them.

I only have 1 racket and Olivia Marcano left now and then I assume it'll be time to take down Sal and that will be that. I've done the Vito side missions but really have no interest in doing the other two's, especially Burke's car stealing. Then I face the dilemma of whether I hold onto the game for any DLC or not. Probably not - I have enjoyed this game far more than reviews indicate I should have though.

Completed it last night. The final encounter with Sal is really good. Interesting ending too. I've got mixed feelings about Mafia 3. Like Bish said some of the side and main quests were repetitive, which just becomes tedious, however, the atmospherics etc were really good. There's only 5 games I've ever held onto because I still play them over and again, but Mafia 3 won't be the 6th. 7/10 for me.

Oh, and Feb 1966's Playmate is lovely
