Looks accidental to me. Zlatan's elbow though, tut tut.

The Mings bit looked like it could have been accidental, but I agree with Nilsson's point that he wouldn't run away if it was. Surprised Zlatan didn't stay down, the studs to the head looked awful in the replays.

Zlatan's elbow, on the other hand, was quite clearly deliberate but didn't do nearly as much damage as Mings could have done.

If there's evidence found that the stamp was deliberate, I'd be surprised if Mings is suspended for less than 5 matches.

A stamp on the head is far worse than an elbow. The former is even banned in MMA and that is without studs. I can't definitively say whether or not Mings meant it, it looks much worse in slow motion and he wasn't looking at Zlatan's head during the jump - it might have been a misjudged jump. Either way it was reckless play and deserved a straight red.

By MMA I'm assuming you meant UFC, it was the other way around in Pride FC. God I miss that promotion, far better.

And just for the record I didn't say an elbow was worse than a stamp.

Did the assistant not see any of these incidents?

Even the red card only came about because Rooney pointed out ithr player had already been booked it seemed.

Looks accidental but extremely careless to me. Should have apologised.

Pride was great, but under unified rules of MMA today (not just UFC) kicking a downed opponent in the head is illegal. I think they allow it in Glory kickboxing and ONE FC mind you. I don't recall many stamps in Pride either, though there were a lot of head punts. :gr:

You didn't, but you took issue with Scruff's comment stating that Ming's should be given more of a ban because of the severity of the challenge. Elbows I guess could be life threatening if you really used your imagination, not really in the same realm as a stamp on the head though.

From what I gather / is being suggested: If it wasn't for the FA's prejudicial statement yesterday asking for Mings to be handed an extended ban, before the case had been reviewed , we'd have accepted the charge.

However we are now appealing in order to get a hearing for Mings and club officals in person. In which to argue about why the FA has seemingly already decided it's preferred outcome before a review, and to argue that an extended ban is disproportionate, presumably given Mings' defence being to persuade the panel that it wasn't intentional.

Could all blow up in our face and result in an even longer ban again. But I can't fault us for asking a few questions about what was a very strange situation / game.

Good to see united accept the ban with good grace. After seeing the official discuss the incident for a few minutes I was woried we might try a city and sling mud at the ref to try and get off on a technicality.

He elbowed somebody and was rightly banned, I wonder if silky will come in this thread bemoaning the inconsistancy like with Aguero.:fish:

Looks like a 5 game ban for Mings in breaking news, although the details and reasoning are yet to be made public. AFCB have just released the news along with a very peed off statement.

Baily Cargill, step on up lad.

Presumably they didn't believe it was an accident.
