What is going to happen first? Luton appoint a new manager or Stoke sack theirs?

Darren Moore's replacement at West Brom will apparently be in place before Wednesday's game... watch this space.

Just fuck off.

https://www.skysports.com/football/...-neil-high-on-west-broms-managerial-shortlist

Preston North End manager Alex Neil is a strong contender to fill the managerial vacancy at West Bromwich Albion, Sky Sports News understands.

Albion's bosses have already made contact with the representatives of Slavisa Jokanovic for initial discussions, but Neil is also high up on their wanted list, though so far no formal approach has been made to Preston, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports News understands that the club were still considering a number of candidates and that they're unlikely to appoint a new manager before Wednesday's home game against Swansea.

Chief executive Mark Jenkins is on a plane on his way back from China, where he's been holding talks with owner Guachan Lai.

According to Sky sources, the club's board are real admirers of Neil.

The 37-year-old won promotion to the Premier League with Norwich in 2015. In his 18 months at Deepdale, he has helped them to a seventh-placed finish last season with Preston 10th in the Championship, despite a limited budget.

Looks like Mclaren is out. Rumours going around that he has been sacked today. No idea who I want to come in. Jokanovic probably but no chance in getting him.

Ainsworth?

Been linked with him as a QPR legend, but I am not sure how good he is. I heard he plays hit and hope football which isn't what we want/need. Not sure if any Wycombe fans are on here to give a bit more insight, but he'll definitely be a early front runner.

Can't say i know loads about him as a manager but imagine his budget is low down there, possibly just playing to his squad's strengths.

Don't agree with employing someone just because they have links to the club, same as when PNE fans mention Graham Alexander. But to be fair, Ainsworth has done well at Wycombe.

Oh god, some of the names mentioned scares me. Tim Sherwood is favourite apparently. Even the prick Redknapp has been put in at 12/1

Odds for Alex Neil getting the West Brom job are pretty frightening right now.

I know they're small markets but it doesn't look good.

Have a bad feeling we would replace him with Rowett.

You'd be lucky to have Rowett.

Whilst he may be a bit of a prick he's evidently a very good manager, if he joined Preston he'd probably realise that despite having a decent reputation in the game if a little tarred by his time at Stoke he needs to get something on his CV, rather than jumping ship if a better offer come half way through the season.

You wouldn't be able to attract a better manager.

He's a twat and I think you're over-hyping him massively.

The job he did at Stoke was abysmal and he was a failure at Derby.

Birmingham record is good but who's to say how that season would have panned out if he stayed.

I don't, name me a better manager Preston North End could attract.

He did a poor job at Stoke, mainly down to recruitment. Monk did the same at Boro, got giddy when he got handed some serious money and made a balls up of it. Would you not have taken him after Boro either?

To say he was a failure at Derby is ridiculous as well let's be right, they finished 6th under him after they'd finished 9th the previous season and had his two best players sold.

The available options are that poor that he probably would be the best bet, hence why I said I think we would end up with him. Doesn't mean he's a good manager.

Don't think his ego would allow him to buy into our transfer policy, so maybe he wouldn't be an option.

You just said it yourself, he's the best out there currently and there's no guarantee he'd even join you.

Neil would be a decent appointment on the face of it for WBA but the dressing room is similar to the one Rowett walked into at Stoke, lots of "experienced" players on big wages that run the dressing room and aren't particularly arsed about the club. I'm not sure he'd fare well there.

Not sure how he gets another job above our level though to be fair.

After his fuck up at Stoke, I think the likes of PNE, Reading, Hull, Brentford & Blackburn are his only real options at this level. He won't get another money job without replicating what he did at Birmingham in a similar situation.

Also, I think Neil is an outstanding manager at this level but he'd need more freedom than he would probably get at West Brom.

I'd have him here if Johnson goes so long as there's some daft compensation buyout in his contract so he can't just fuck off the second a bigger club come calling, and I think he'd probably buy into it.

Far too much smoke now, not really sure how the club can let him be in the dug out on Saturday if the interest is real.

I'm warming to the idea of Steve Clarke, think he would come here, good coaching pedigree and he's done well at Kilmarnock, plus we love a jock. His spell at Reading was pretty bad I think but they seem to be a club that has had a big turnover of players and managers for a while now.

It wasn't at all. He was sacked when they were just outside the top six from memory, a bit like Clement at Derby where they started like a house on fire but tailed off a bit then they pulled the trigger. He had Blackman firing from all cylinders and they were well in contention, I know Stam did well eventually at Reading but they must wish they'd have stuck with him for a bit longer.

Just remember him getting sacked, presumed he did badly.

Just read this article on him - https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...es-kilmarnock-dark-age-sectarian-abuse-still/

Makes me think he would be a good fit.

I think it was just a case of an ex PL side getting ahead of themselves like WBA with Moore. They were battling relegation 14/15, then 15/16 they were playing some good stuff and were right in the mix yet still sacked him. Just looked it up and he was sacked in 9th, 1 point off the playoffs - they ended up finishing 17th.

Would be a smart appointment, hadn't considered him as I don't really follow Scottish football closely.

Hadn't considered him but he looks like he'd be a good fit.

It looks inevitable that Alex Neil is on his way, like you say I'm not sure how he can be in the dugout on Saturday. I'd be putting Steve Thompson in charge now until the end of the season and then making an appointment as early as possible.

Good interview, hopefully the owner follows through with any promises.

He said "I do a lot of talking to the players in terms of convincing them that this is the best place for them. That I am going to make them better, that I am going to get us or them into the Premier League at some stage.

"I think if I then upped and left at the first sign of interest from elsewhere then I would be a complete hypocrite. They understand my thoughts about them and they know how much I believe in them and what I think they can achieve here."

And the North End boss is confident that the club will keep hold of their key players during the summer to ensure they can challenge next term with Neil excited by the prospects at Preston.

"We are moving from a very solid base," he said. "If you think of who is in the building then we are only going to improve on that.

"I am very hopeful that we are not going to lose any of our players and we are hoping to maybe start work on training grounds and different things like that and we are hoping to attract more and better players to here to help us on our journey.

"When you take all that into account what is there not to be excited about?"

Fingers crossed the Robinson to Bournemouth deal is in doubt and we're in talks over a new deal.

Still no idea who will be taking over at QPR. The idea behind sacking Mclaren was so that we can have a new manager in to see what he is working with and that hasn't happened so may as well have stuck with him.

I still want Bowyer from Charlton but the fanbase is really split on who they want. Some want Holloway back, some Warburton, some Moore and some Bowyer.

The only thing we can agree on is that it shouldn't be Sherwood.
